Tucked away in the quiet Howden Street in Old Town is the cosy and elegant La Sal, a tapas bar offering a variety of fresh and authentic dishes inspired by Spanish cuisine. The cosy restaurant creates a plethora of creative and unique dishes that pay homage to various regions in Spain, and are the perfect delicacies to share among friends. The Edinburgh restaurant and bar is passionate about creating quality food and providing a truly unforgettable dining experience. La Sal is open seven nights per week, and open for lunch on Saturdays. Reserve your spot ahead of time before this Spanish treat is fully booked.
Spanish cuisine is famous for sophisticated tapas made to be shared among close friends and family. Edinburgh’s La Sal has taken inspiration from this by creating a cosy and elegant space for guests to indulge in high quality Spanish tapas and an extensive wine list. Nestled on quiet Howden Street, the heart of the Old Town, La Sal has an array of dishes that will tantalise the senses. We recommend sampling the selección de vegetales de navarra (a platter of artichokes, asparagus and piquillo peppers), tortilla de berenjenas( a delicious cheese and aubergine omelette) or paying homage to both Spain and Scotland, the huevos rotos con morcilla de burgos(layers of potato, onion and peppers topped with egg and black pudding).
Walking distance from Arthur’s Seat and the National Museum in the UNESCO heritage listed Old Town, La Sal also caters for large groups and offers a set shared menu, perfect for sampling all they have to offer. With an enticing wine list on offer, this Edinburgh hideaway is a must-visit destination for foodies and Spanish lovers alike. Book now to secure your spot today!
Excellent food, excellent service and a great atmosphere. Small friendly authentic Tapas restaurant tucked away in a back street but a great find - definitely go back.
Excellent tapas, especially the pig cheek cooked in white wine. Good range of tapas available - plenty for veggies. Don’t miss the churros and chocolate for postres. Friendly and efficient service.
Lovely restaurant Great food and service! Highly recommended to anyone on a trip to Edinburgh. Make sure you book as it’s only a small restaurant but well worth the visit
It’s a small and cosy place with amazing food, tapas and great service! We had a really good time and I would recommend La Sal to anyone!
My husband and I think La Sal is our favourite restaurant. It's intimate, friendly & provides excellent food. So, if you want a romantic meal out, you can't do better than La Sal.
If it was not for the Fringe Alba FLamenca having a show I would never have found you, Lasal. Fantastic non stop show well done to all. Great authentic Tapas restaurant. I found you on Google booked a table you confirmed by Email and reminded me on the day by email. I will be back fantastic service, great food and not enough time to try all dishes. I will spread the word you are tucked away in Howden Street have great character and loyal customers well done to your team
Food fantastic as always. La Sal serves the best tapas in Edinburgh in our opinion. good service, lovely wine. Our only gripe was that the serving of jamon and manchego was very small for the price. That aside, we highly recommend it.
We had tapas which were delicious & food authentic. Star of the dishes was the garlic & chilli prawns. We had 4 tapas dishes which was ample for two ladies & left enough room for divine marsapone cheesecake & tart. Wine selection very good & staff very helpful. Definitely worth a visit & the 10min cab trip from st andrews square. Definitely recommend & look forward to another visit.
La Sal has friendly service with a great range of authentic Spanish tapas. I particularly like the Pimientos de Padron and the Fabada Asturiana. We will definitely be going back!
The service was friendly and efficient and more importantly the food was authentic Spanish and delicious. La Sal feels like eating in a family's home in Spain.
