Centrally located in The Shambles. Prompt and efficient service with authentic Italian food and a friendly atmosphere. Would suggest phoning to book table rather than on line.
Four of us dined here on 9 December 2017. All the staff were cheery and pleasant and we had some banter. All the food went down well, especially the ravioli, ribs, calves liver and steak. We will go back next time in York.
Great food and service but the restaurant was decidedly chilly! Good menu and choice of wines which we enjoyed and friendly service from the staff.
Beautiful food as alwsys, this is our favourite restaurant ! The fillet steak is the best we’ve ever eaten! It’s like being in Italy with the quirkiness and great tasting wine. All staff are lovely with awesome customer service. You need to eat here-you won’t be disappointed.
Great food with a good menu and lovely atmosphere - upstairs is very cosy and Christmassy. The waiting staff very friendly and amusing. Highly recommend!!
Staff were drunk and inefficient and food was basic and not cooked correctly. Overall bad experience and will not be returning. I think this may have been their last night before closing down.
Score would have been higher but meal was slightly on the cool side. Service fine, food very good. Will be giving this restaurant another go on our next visit.
Great food and lovely ambience. Will definitely visit again. Both of our pastas were very good and tiramisu one of the best I've ever tasted.
No lunch time special. Expensive for what I had. Wouldn’t go back. Quite disappointed really. Only 2 other tables occupied I so felt like we were being watched!
Enjoyed our evening but thought Starters and Desserts overpriced - four tiny slices of bread and ten olives at £4.95!! Mains, service, ambience were excellent.
Amazing food, lovely staff and building. Went here on the Sunday and then again on the Tuesday because it was so good. Would highly recommend. Gets booked up easily, even midweek so would recommend booking first!
Poor service, extremely slow! Confused waiter. Small portions - leaving hungry. Over priced feeling ripped off. Charged for extra bread. Overall a very bad restaurant!
Nice and cosy restaurant. Good and tasty food - authentic Italian. The very large and tender steaks were done exactly as we had ordered them (medium).
Average food and slow service but area, location and atmosphere great. Used to be great, may have been a one off but would usually recommend
The restaurant is small and intimate and has a lovely homely atmosphere. Food excellent, service good value for money and authentic Italian cooking. A must
Brilliant! So authentic awesome food and atmosphere, price was really good and specials menu really got me excited, key for me was the atmosphere and quality of food
Lovely intimate restaurant with nice view of The Shambles, especially with a window seat upstairs. Good home cooked food at reasonable prices with good friendly service. I had the Lobster & Prawn risotto which was to die for. Highly recommended, what's not to like!!
Very disappointed - we have been to this restaurant three times before and the food is sublime. Arrived on Saturday and was made very welcome by the waiting staff who were friendly and efficient. so what was the problem? the Manager was at first friendly and then became annoying. He had made a new desert which we didn't want to try but felt bullied into. Two of us were served the desert which we made clear we didn't want. He then made personal comments about other people on other tables. Food was beautiful, waiters tried hard, but the manager is a liability. Very disappointed.
Fantastic little restaurant with main dining room upstairs overlooking the Shambles. Great wine list (had the vermentino) and superb specials. Cosy candle-lit atmosphere and very good service. We'll be back.
Our favourite restaurant in York. Rustic, authentic and friendly with superb food! We came back to York from Kent on a mini break and planned our visit around eating at L'antica Locanda. Great value for money is a bonus! Already planning our next return!
