Combining the two into one big, succulent, and rather luxurious favourite is The MPW Steak & Alehouse, right in the middle of the City of London’s square mile. Just off Bishopsgate, at 109- 117 Middlesex Street, Marco White Pierre (the godfather of modern cooking and mentor to celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay) has gifted us the jewel of the steakhouse scene. Here, prime cuts of beef are personally selected for head chef Stefan Brodin and The MPW Steak & Alehouse’s kitchen by master butcher Aubrey Allen, who has been running the game (permit us to add running with the bulls) since 1933.

Marco Pierre White and team have taken the initiative of providing customers with a cut of the month, a wine of the month, and even a recipe of the month. Well, one can only try. This all indicates that City of London’s MPW Steak & Alehouse are a generous lot, with far too many ways to conjure a stellar steakhouse experience than they know what to do with.

The MPW Steak & Alehouse are quick to inform patrons about the various cuts at their disposal – ribeye, T-bone, fillet, sirloin and rump – and, while they respect diners’ diverse tastes – are sticklers for matching a particular cut with a particular degree of doneness. That the MPW Steak & Alehouse insist on serving only the perfect steak is, naturally, to be applauded. Just 5 to 10 minutes from much- frequented highlights of London – Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market, the Globe and the Tate Modern – The MPW Steak & Alehouse’s elegant interior can also accommodate parties of up to 200 people.
