Bienvenue and welcome to Market Kitchen, a French restaurant in Ashton-in-Makerfield that is making more than a little of a name for itself. Their menu du jour is ever-changing and what we list below is but a sampler – understandably for a restaurant called Market Kitchen, they go to the market, buy what they find freshest and most appealing and then take it to the kitchen, cook it up howsoever they see fit and serve it to you at your table. Thusly, the plat du jour is always the option, ensuring that only the most seasonal, most organic and freshest ingredients are used. You can find them at Numero Un, Rue de Warrington – OK, Warrington Road, as this still Ashton after all – and when you go, you can feel like you’ve moved from Wigan to their more illustrious twin town of Angers. Indeed, amid all the seasonal veg and ingredients, when we last checked there was still a pie on the menu. After all, what else would Wiganers put on a stick and call a kebab? Book a table now.
Delicious freshly prepared food, good quality wines and a nice menu choice. Lovely friendly attentive staff and in a cosy country cottage type setting. A very pleasant evening.
We went for the very reasonably priced lunchtime special. The food was very tasty indeed. The service was friendly and efficient . i would highly recommend.
Booked this restaurant today having heard good reviews both personally and online. We were not disappointed. The food was superb and the service was excellent.
