Great meal. wonderful service. We always use the Mela as our go to resturant.

It was a nice atmosphere but the food we ordered wasn't quite up to our liking - the muttar paneer had some sugar added to it and the Naans were very thick in various regions. Spoke to the waiter afterwards and he said the chef can make it to our liking, next time. Sounds hopeful...

Food good but took over an hour to arrive despite only 2 out of 25 tables being occupied. Waiter seemed to have never handled plates before.

Excellent service. Brilliant food . We go here for curry every time. Always excellent. Would highly recommend. We think Mela is the best curry restaurant in area.

Mela Christchurch has been our favourite restaurant for years and years. We have moved now and don't get to go that often, but did manage to go for a meal last Friday evening. It was extremely disappointing indeed. I don't know how a restaurant can go from being outstanding in every way to being terrible! The curries had very watery sauces and were served up individually on plates instead of putting them in dishes in the center of the table, where everyone can share and try out new curries that they wouldn't normally order. The waiters had terrible attitudes and it was apparent that one young lad really didn't want to be there at all, let alone serve us! We ordered a second round of drinks, which never arrived and we were then charged for them. We were challenged about this when we asked for the drinks to be removed from the bill. Shocking overall and unless someone that we know tells us that things have drastically changed for the better, we won't be going back! Real shame.

Only ones in restaurant, although food was nice we were meant to be having a meal including coffee , the waiter bought us the bill when we asked about coffee he said he was shutting it was 2 pm and table was booked at 12.45 said he had to go home as he was back at 4pm we were dunfounded! He did take some money off bill, parking was not explained correctly wouldn't go again.

This was a pre booked table made 5days before - Service , none existent , waited 1hr 30min for starter , -only one senior waiter was pleasant , we had to remind waiters several times we had not had our starters after 1hrs wait , - main caurse served on our plates not in hot individual side bowels as customary done . -Extra requested cutlery delivered in a napkin dumped on the table for 6 persons one a child of 7yrs , to sort out ourselves . Main problem observed - too many takeaway orders given priority over resturant clientele. -Compensation offered , a bottle of white wine only . So disrespectful for a 3hrs 15mn wait for two courses a bill of over £200 for 5adults one child 7yrs .

Service was very nice with friendly waiters. Food was served up on a plate instead of our normal dishes and I was happy with this. Prices were reasonable and the food was just a little bit spicy. Overall a nice place to eat, clean tables and table clothes. I would like the owner to paint and modernise the toilet which I thought required cleaning up.

Food was good but nothing spectacular. The service was very good and very friendly. The restaurant is a little dated but is very clean. For a meal out with friends it is ideal but doesn't have a wow factor of other places such as masala bay

Very tasty food. Nice service. Was quiet on a Sunday night but that’s probably normal with people ordering takeaways. We just needed to get out for the evening. Service was fast. Good price. Will defiantly go again. Food Seems to be better in restaurant then having it delivered.

The forth time of eating here and the service is excellent and food of the highest quality. we are a group of approximately 10 people when we visit and the meal is delivered in a timely fashion and always hot. fantastic selection of food on the menu too. Will always eat here. Many thanks.

Good service Andalusia great menu. Food extremely tasty , could just do with some background music,lacks a little atmosphere, but that’s just a personal thing.

Fantastic food and service. The owner could smile a bit more. Waiters so helpful and know what they are serving and can offer advice on strengths etc if curry.

Great food and pleasant,attentive staff. Attractive venue for small and large parties. Very roomy and good location.We will definitely revisit in the near future. Highly recommended.

Service and good were great. Sauces for all dishes were flavoured to perfection. Lemon wipe at the end was a good and refreshing to clean dirty hands :-)

Loved the sweet and sour chicken in the chef's recommendation -best ever. Good ambiance in the restaurant enjoyed the evening. However we like to share dishes bit difficult as the two dishes came already plated didn't like that.

Booked a table for 4 turned up slightly late no problems. We were sat quickly offered drinks straight away!! Food was served quick and was of a high standard. All around a great experience! I would of given it 10/10 rather than 9/10 if we hadn't of had to wait for the bill .

Fab food, friendly service! Good times all round, couldn't ask for more. Definetly a good place for a casual meal out on a Friday and didn't seem to mind us being drunk and a bit rowdy!

Our prawn puri starter was not what I expected. It was covered in a sauce more akin to a Chinese 'sweet & sour'. Main course and side dishes were fine but can't understand why the main dish is served already in your plate which makes it more difficult to share around the table.

Fantastic restaurant! We had the onion bhaji, mixed kebab and then the chicken tikka Ceylon and Korma for mains and it was absolutely delightful! Would definitely go there again!

During a busy Saturday night, it was a while before we were served, offer of drinks would have softened the wait. However the meal was tasty and we shall visit again

Very pleasant atmosphere with a warm welcome and excellent service. The main meals and side dishes were extremely good and we would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Went to Mela on Friday night, the restaurant was fairly busy (in a good way). The service was quick and the food was good. The portion sizes were good as was the quality, the flavours were nice but very mild even the 2 chilly dishes lacked any bite. We have found this to be a common problem in this area, having moved from London where curries can be both hot and tasty. I don't think throwing a couple of chopped chillies in just before serving counts so prefer not to go down the please can you make it hotter route. I know everyones tastes are different but all three of us enjoyed our meals but would have liked more heat.

Great food, friendly staff and a great experience. The best curry house in Christchurch, never had a bad meal the 20 times I have eaten there.
