Thai food is all about flavoursome and fragrant dishes made with skill, passion and produce that’s super fresh. Here in Edinburgh you’ll do extremely well to find a finer example of fine Thai cuisine than that which is on offer at Noks Kitchen. This restaurant – well-located on Gloucester Street in the Stockbridge district – not only gets the flavour of its food absolutely bang on, but the presentation on the plate rivals any that you’ll find in a restaurant much higher up the price ladder. Noks Kitchen is, therefore, an absolute gem and one that wows revisiting diners on a regular basis. It’s definitely best to reserve a table way in advance.
We’re going to go ahead and say it: you won’t find more beautiful-looking Thai food in Edinburgh than at Noks Kitchen. You’re also unlikely to find Thai food that tastes better, or a Thai menu that’s as pleasingly far away from the norm as this one is. As you can tell, we really like Noks Kitchen and we know that you will as well. You’ll find Noks on Gloucester Street in Stockbridge where the restaurant itself small, intimate and well-decorated with a combination of exposed stone, dark furniture and a few homey Thai touches.
In terms of what you can expect from the menu, on the Noks Kitchen lunch menu you can pick up two terrific courses for £9.95, whilst the dinner menu is laced with further quality. Begin with a vibrant Thai salad or soup before moving onto a curry in the way of a classic massaman or panang. The grilled duck red curry made with a variation of fruits is also a sensation, while the pad sam sa hai from the wok, prepared with asparagus, king prawns, scallops and monkfish is an absolute must try. Diner of Edinburgh and Stockbridge can also look forward to plenty of fresh seafood, done just right on the grill.
Excellent find in Stockbridge for very tasty Thai food. Great value fixed price lunch menu. Now open 7-days.
Beautiful food amazing presentation and friendly staff .Saturday lunch time on a beautiful sunny day .we had chicken satay .scallops to start and beef green curry and crispy chicken and cashew nuts
Definitely recommend. Great food, good value. Small restaurant, recommended to book.
The food was lovely and was very well presented and the staff were very helpful despite the restaurant being extremely busy on a Thursday evening.
Noks Kitchen is one of the most delightful dining experiences you could wish for in Edinburgh, if you enjoy Thai food. This family run restaurant has authentic Thia food prepared I believe, by the grandparents of the charming young staff that work front of house. Nothing is too much trouble to them. If for instance you cannot manage a full main course they will happily provide a smaller portion. I never need to be asked twice if I want to eat at the Noks Kitchen. Max Cruickshank
Love this little restaurant, delicious food and wonderfully helpful staff. It was my friends birthday and they provided us with a glass of prosecco each on arrival and a birthday ice cream for my friend free of charge. Lovely touch which makes all the difference. Only thing I would say is that as I booked it online I didn't know they needed the table back 1 hour 45 mins after we arrived, it would have been helpful if we had known this beforehand, or even at the start of the meal rather than the the staff trying to hurry us up when that time was approaching (but in a very polite way as always), we would have been happy to go when we needed to if we had known about it! but aside from this I only have great things to say about this lovely little gem in stockbridge. Will definitely be back soon!
This is definitely the best Thai restaurant we have ever visited and we have visited a fair few. The food is exceptional, we were blown away with the taste and presentation. The service was fantastic, the staff are very friendly and polite. If you like Thai food I cannot recommend this gem of a restaurant highly enough! We came to Edinburgh for 3 nights, we visited Nok's kitchen on our first night, it was so good we immediately booked a table for our 3rd night too! We cannot wait to visit it again next time we are in Edinburgh.
We went for lunch. Its a lovely cool calm sophisticated blue inside and the staff are lovely but i think they could have done with an extra person on the day we were there (we ended up going to the front desk to pay our bill as we waited so long at the end of the meal). The lunch deal is superb - 2 courses for just under a tenner. The food was delicious. I would definitely return for another lunch or dinner with a group of friends so that i can try more food.
Food was excellent and reasonably priced for the quality provided. Better presented than your standard Thai offering. Service was very friendly and helpful. Decor and ambience was better in reality than perceived from photos on website. I would have no hesitation in recommending Noks Kitchen.
Read about Nok's on TripAdvisor - it was absolutely Fabulous..... the Beef in a basket starter was phenomenal, and the Scallops starter, my partner Bob had was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had nutty chicken for the main, Bob had Seafood Pad Cha both accompanied by sticky rice and were superb. I couldn't quite finish mine and Bob only just managed to clear his plate..... staff were faultless - we cannot recommend the place enough... 5*
