Most attentive and friendly service. Meal very good though not outstanding. Wine seems very pricey. Could have done without the background pop music. But a pleasant introduction to Birmingham.

Attended one Friday lunch time. Although not too busy the restaurant had an easy ambience and the staff were friendly and attentive. The lunchtime specials were extremely good value for money, well presented and very tasty. Highly reccomended.

Wonderful experience. Beautifully presented food, excellent service (attentive without being obtrusive), pleasant atmosphere. Half price 'sale' on wine in January too! Not the cheapest, but worth the price for a special evening out. We will return!

Great food, excellent wines,, a classy restaurant. The menu offers a great choice with my all time favourite fish cakes topping all starters. Lobster was very good as was the steak.

Food and service very good only detractor was one of our party requested scrambled egg rather than poached egg with the fischcake starter. Advised chef could/would not accommodate, which was not an issue until we were settling the bill, when asked if everything had been alright, we mentioned that the chef would not provide scrambled egg, to be told "this is a restaurant not a cafe" which we felt was offhand and a little rude and put a slight damper on what had been a pleasant evening.

Friendly and attentive but not over familiar service, excellent food and an attractive environment combine to provide a dining experience that offers value for money.

This is the third time we've been to Opus and it never disappoints . Gaby is an excellent host and can't do enough for you . The cocktails , food and wine were perfect and the service was attentive but not in your face . Three of our party had never been to Opus before and they all said they would be back for more

The staff were very courteous and the food and wine were delicious. The meal was worth every penny and exceeded expectations. Would definitely recommend to others. Thanks.

My wife and I wanted a special meal whilst staying in Birmingham and Opus certainly delivered it. We both had monkfish for main course with a macaroni cheese and chorizo sauce. It was extremely tasty and was everything we expected it to be. The side of buttered kale complimented the dish and the pot of Chips ordered between us was superfluous but great. We were too satisfied for dessert and the coffee and petit fours were quite sufficient. I would recommend Opus to anyone.

Engaging service and mostly good food (creme brûlée a little disappointing). The place was much enjoyed by all my guests and we are likely to return.

A solid performance from dependable Opus. Watch out for the desserts, though. The crumble was more like "fruit sprinkled with oats". Pleasant, but missed the mark.

Pleasant surroundings, polite and helpful staff, and a very good meal. Rather a quiet night though, and we felt a little lonely at times. A good place for a special treat!

The food was amazing and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The musicians playing in the bar created a lovely ambience. The whole evening was fantastic.

We thought Opus was superb, the menu had several dishes I would have chosen , the cocktails and wine list were also just right and the staff were attentive but unobtrusive. My venison was cooked to perfection, I'd definitely go back

This is a decent restaurant. The service was good but not overly-attentive. The food portions were pretty big and standard of food decent but nothing mind-blowing.

Genuinely great value fine dining, attentive staff and chic atmosphere. The menu choices are diverse and the vegetarian options are equal to anywhere we have been.

We were very disappointed with our visit to Opus. On arrival we were asked if we would like to have a drink at the bar and we agreed. However, there was absolutely no ambiance - very bright lighting, a huge area behind the bar (like you would expect in a busy high street pub), inexperienced barman who produced fairly unsatisfactory cocktails and generally not at all as one would expect when being offered a pre-dinner drink in a nice restaurant - not helped by a particularly raucous group of six seated next to us who screeched with laughter every 30 seconds or so and who were not asked to tone it down. My food was very nice (I had the cauliflower soup followed by blade of beef) but my husband was disappointed with his (he ordered fishcakes and a filet steak) but they do a far better steak that the one he was served at our local Ember Inns pub. The staff seem to all be training (possibly from the local College of Food) and they are far from polished. All-in-all not a great experience.

Fantastic restaurant in Colmore Row area of Birmingham. Very upmarket, very friendly staff. The food was incredible. Not cheap but worth it for a special occasion.

Enjoyable evening, good food and wine combined with nice atmosphere. Service was first class, prompt but did not feel rushed. Only slight cripe was that the round table was too large for just the 4 of us. 6 or 8 would have been perfect. Overall though really enjoyed it and would recommend to others for a special occasion.

Food was delicious and the atmosphere and service was attentive and not over-bearing. Some options on the market menu were rather limited, e.g. a seafood dish or mushroom risotto; not being a great fan of either I would have rather a wider variety. However, it is value for money and will definitely return,

nice refined dining , the January sale meant that the resteraunt was full but the service was very slick. The resteraunt is expensive so an amuse bouche would have been apreciated.

We meet in Birmingham for lunch twice a year, and have made several visits to OPUS, usually going a la carte. Always a warm welcome, good food and great choice of wines; service very competent at every stage, and we can talk easily because there is NO MUSIC in the main restaurant-- very much a plus point for us. I do hope that they keep it that way. We shall definitely visit again, perhaps in 2016.

Great food. One of the better places in town. Worth a visit. You won't be disappointed. We went lunch time so it's a bit quieter but their lunch menu is very good, and cheap in our opinion at £18.50 for 3 courses! You can collect their loyalty points too which build up to a nice discount.

We understood as visitors to Brum that this was one of the cities finest. Overall it seemed to lack the aire of quality we expected. I think that maybe because although the staff were helpful they were not dedicated restrateurs. Food was good but lacked pizazz. Wine list was interesting but not outstanding for the restaurants reputation yet pricing was OTT generally and curious in respect of some vintages .

The food was delicious. We had a starter and then the lobster. Both starters were a perfect size to then eat a main. The lobster was amazing value. The staff and service was lovely and helpful and friendly! They ordered me a taxi at the end of the evening. We shall definitely be going back!!
