Wouldn’t recommend, food was cold, my order was missing items which took 10 minutes to come meaning I had finished the rest of my meal. The staff were really not friendly and we felt judged the whole time

Was a little concerned after a visit prior to lock down where the service was very slow and food not great ! But pleasantly surprised - everything back to previous visits 😀

Warm welcome, lovely waitress food was very good. Prices were reasonable although the desert was a bit disappointing

Service was a bit haphazard eg no drinks order taken on arrival, water brought to the table but had to ask for glasses, no drinks menu given and wrong drink delivered. Fillet of beef was expensive for the size of the steak and pork belly was not good, fat not rendered down. Starters were nice though :-)

It was a lovely evening, I was intrigued about how a meal out during covid19 would be like, but I was pleasantly surprised, the atmosphere, the food and service were all excellent. Sadly the cider on tap wasn’t working but that didn’t matter - excellent would happily recommend and return!

Positives Perfect location for Swan theatre We made easy online booking for given time of 5.45pm Good choice and value pre theatre set menu Food WHEN it it arrived was superb Negatives We waited 10 minutes for 2 glasses of wine to be served and 45 mins for main course. I burned mouth trying to eat hot dessert too quickly in order not to miss start of theatre performance Temperature of dining area was too cold. Conclusion Our first visit to this cosy restaurant. Food was so good and well presented we will probably try it again. However not pre theatre and when weather is warmer

Had the pre-theatre menu - beetroot infused salmon starter with cod loin wrapped in parma ham on herb mash potato. The food was excellent - really delicious. Timings worked out perfectly arriving at 6pm and leaving at about 7.15pm for a 7.30pm show down the road at the Swan Theatre. Highly recommended.

My first time at this restaurant and i would definitely go back, good value, excellent atmosphere and the service from the staff was very good. Food portion size was just right so that all 3 courses could be eaten.

This was a pre theatre meal and they were informed of the delays and issues at the previous visit and the fact we had to be at the theatre, seated before 7.30. we booked the table for 5.30 to allow 2 hours for a 2 course meal. Guess what? we had to rush our desert and got to the theatre just as the show was starting. It ruined the evening as it did the previous visit. It seemed like there was some inexperienced staff which didn't help. The waitress asked if she could take the main course plates whilst I was still eating. There was no bread and dips which used to be provided whilst the meals are prepared. The 4 of us will never return again and nor will friends.

Very slow service. 25 min wait for drink, 1hr and 10 mins for food. Main course was excellent, pudding awful. Wine (white) warm. Felt really sorry for the waiter. We were given a reduction on the bill , Such a shame .

We arrived at 6:55 for our 7pm reservation. It was obvious from the word go that the restaurant was in disarray. The bar was overloaded with packs of drinks that had not been put away. There was a crate of glasses on another table and boxes everywhere. Our order was taken at 0715. Others who arrived after us got served first. Our starter arrived at 0745 after complaining about the time taken. A party of 2 who arrived at 8 pm were served their main course before us. Only 3 tables (7 people) were served their main course in 90 minutes. Our main course arrived at 8:45 pm

Normal standards not quite there.. ordered a Sunday lunch although most of the food was delicious we were missing Yorkshire pudding and broccoli (broccoli) did come out half way through meal. Roast potatoes didn’t taste fresh either. Lovely place just lacking on this particular dish.

For our anniversary we visited Ostlers for the first time. It was a lovely relaxing experience with very friendly staff. Scallops were excellent and steak was cooked to perfection. If you want to enjoy your meal in full I would skip the bread with olives. Would definitely go again

Most of our party were very pleased with the food. However the belly pork had been overcooked and was very hard. The front of house was run by young people not sophisticated as one would expect and the young man taking the order shouted at us as he went round the table a very laud NEXT!!!!! I’ve never been asked like this in my life. Food good service poor

Delicious meal in a restaurant with a really pleasant atmosphere. The waiting staff were a little rushed toward the end of the meal but it didn’t spoil the evening. The highlight was the chocolate fondant as it was a sensational dessert.

Been here many times but this time didn’t quite feel the same. Food was great but not busy and atmosphere lacking, service was friendly but not great - waited to order drinks, had to ask for menus!! then messed up on our sides. Overall it was a good evening though just not a great one.

Very efficient & courteous waiter. Had a great evening with excellent food & service, including a couple of small courses between what we ordered free from the chef. Highly recommended, excellent quiet atmosphere so you can hold a conversation & good value.

The service was excellent, the restaurant is comfortable and welcoming, we had great starters (smoked haddock risotto, some really nice wine, and my companions enjoyed their mains - duck and pork belly. But my tandoori lamb shank was disappointing; The spicing was lacklustre and it was drowned in shiny thick gravy, as were the accompanying Bombay potatoes, so the predominant taste was of the gravy. The meat was very tender, but I felt that what could have been really interesting was pretty mediocre. I'd be happy to give Ostlers another chance because it was a lovely place, but I can't give it full marks this time, sadly.

Heard great things about Ostlers, so decided to go for a special birthday meal. Very average experience throughout. Waiter seemed very inexperienced and nervous/clumsy, needed to be prompted to bring steak knives, food was tasty but not presented as well as expected.
