We travelled a long way to eat based on recommendations that the food was excellent. The steaks we ordered were absolutely superb. However, we were seated opposite the chefs lift where the staff constantly access because the cutlery etc is based there. This meant that we were permanently looking at someone's back side leaning over and the constant clatter of cutlery being thrown (not placed) into the containers which was noisy and unnecessary. Because of this we will not revisit, but the food was good.

First Sunday booking and the food was lovely. Went for the Butchers Board and was filling. Don't feel it's as good a value as the pound an ounce.

Nice place, welcoming staff and efficient service. However, the rump roast (main Sunday meal) was disappointing because much of it was very chewy and so tough it couldn’t be cut. When this was pointed out the waitress only apologised but no reduction in price was offered!

The steak was nice, service was ok. The price for sitting in a tight corner like a dog kennel sitting on wooden benches was robbery.

Great steak as always, pity the salad has been dropped. Please resume normal play - Fries, steak and salad included in the £ per Ounce, thats what we come for.........

As always the food was fantastic. It's not cheap but similar prices to Miller and Carter, however I think that the steak is of much higher quality and the restaurant is more intimate

As always great food. The team were very friendly and the Butchers Cut option for rump steak was competitively priced. The fries were nice and hot and the staff attentive.

£1 an ounce on Tuesday’s! Cant go wrong and you would be wrong to think its bad cut’s. Quite the opposite actually. Up there with the best steaks I have ever had. The truffle chips are elite! I enjoyed every trip made here and the staff provide a good service. Other than parking issues, theres nothing I can really pick out that has the slightest negative effect. Equally on a busy high street so, it’s unfair to slam it on the parking as, you can find spaces on side streets easily.

The restaurant was very full our table was squashed against the wall upstairs. I had made the reservation in good time. The meal is to mark the anniversary of the death of my husband my sister and I come every year

We arrived about 5 minutes late but table wasn’t ready. We were told to wait at the bar but the bar was full of dirty glasses and waitresses squeezing past us. Food was amazing as it always is. But service was disappointing. Our plates were cleared but we weren’t asked if we wanted a dessert menu. We waited about 15 minutes but eventually had to wave across the restaurant to ask for a dessert menu. Which was disappointing as it was the end of the evening and we could see staff chatting at the bar. And then again had to wait at least 15 minutes after our dessert plates were cleared to be bought the bill. I even put my coat on to get someone’s attention but again had to wave across to the bar to get the bill

As usual great steaks but the coating / dressing on the steak was something we hadn't experienced before. We've been many.many times. Respectfully, I wish we'd have been told what it was or even been given the choice. It was a mustardy dressing. Not everyone wants their steak dressed with a mustard vinaigrette. Despite this the meal, service and ambience was still top notch. Thank you

This was our first visit and we will most definitely be back - amazing steak and the chateaubriand deal on a Thursday is great value.

On arrival we were seated by the door which was drafty. We asked to be moved but there was no space downstairs so we were seated upstairs where it was cold. Another waitress offered a different table downstairs. We felt awkward about moving table twice but the staff were very accommodating. As usual a great steak
