Ounce At Worcester

Lovely food, and have eaten at ounce many times. However last night, it took along time to have our order taken, which wasn't an issue, until we had, had our meals. We then seemed to be rushed out the door, bill arrived before it was asked for, and table was being cleared and cleaned before we had finished our drinks. I understand the restaurant was busy and tables were required, but we were made to feel we had out stayed our welcome. I will stress though food was excellent and the rushed exit hasn't happened before,and I will book again, in future.

Sunday lunch for birthday celebration. Food excellent except for a couple of very overdone Yorkshire puddings (unsure why these would have been released as acceptable by the kitchen). Didn’t get requested table and upstairs was freezing cold with no atmosphere - just one other table of 2 occupied.

Everything was perfect. Drinks a little expensive but everywhere is like that

Amazing, as always. I went with a friend for the chateaubriand for 2 and the food was great. We had dirty ounce mash, cauliflower cheese and butchers jus as our sides. All were perfect. The dessert menu is a bit uninteresting, but as there's so much in your main course it's OK to skip dessert.

Took over an hour for the food to arrive. Very little service in that timeframe from the staff. Table for 2 by the bar with a constant flow of traffic past and nowhere to hang our coats. Also a foul sewerage smell. Food really good, Guinness was awful.

I was a restaurateur for 20 years and the name of the game is 'consistency' - this place has it with bells on - cow bells!! Chateaubriand for 2 for £30 is bonkers! Exceptional value and quality to match. My Scallops with Pork Belly starter was worth the 20 mile trip on their own. Servers - always with a smile and a cheerful disposition. Great selection of beer and the best Gin display ever! If you live in Worcester and you haven't been then you're nuts!

We come to ounce every now and then as a treat for special occasions. We went for the cote de boeuf- a special they had on- £110 for 2 to share. Myself and my partner always go for medium rare, as did the couple we went for the meal with. The sharers came out and ours was so rare, I’d argue parts of it were blue. I had to pick parts that looked the closest medium rare, but unfortunately I couldn’t enjoy it as it wasn’t cooked to our taste. We were really disappointed as we’ve never had this issue at ounce before. As a steakhouse, especially when you are paying so much, you really expect it to be spot on with how you ask it to be done. Our friends’ sharer however did come out medium rare so I don’t know how they cooked our orders so differently. The waiting staff were really busy and we couldn’t get their attention- they didn’t check how our food was until far too late to send it back. The manager came over and she did take all of our drinks off the final bill. We just can’t help but feel disappointed with this experience. The starter, sauces and sides were still really good so it’s a shame the main piece couldn’t match it.

Whilst we accept that Tuesday nights are busy, our anniversary evening was totally ruined by the location of our table from which we were not offered an alternative. It was at the bottom of the stairs and the last table before the bar for incoming diners. It was like Clapham junction with gangs of incoming diners queuing up right next to our table with their coat sleeves almost in our food. Plus the never ending traffic of waitresses going up and down the stairs with food. On the credit side the food was amazing. If we book again it will not be on line but by personal visit so that we may avoid the table allocation that we suffered tonight. Beware !

The food was good/ ok but I just don’t think it was worth the money that it cost. I wouldn’t rush back due to value for money issue.

Took the mother in law and she loved it just as much as we always do. There was a little delay in service.
