Fabulous place. Fabulous food. Fabulous staff. Cannot be faulted. Visited today and sampled the 'hanging kebabs'. Beautifully cooked and excellent value for money. Can't wait to return on our next visit to York

Plonkers is in a great location, has been decorated really nicely and the food was lovely. Staff were really friendly and helpful, would visit again.

Very accommodating waitress who arranged a larger mezze starter to share and made us welcome. The fish mezze starter was very good and the main a hanging chicken kebab was also very tasty. The only negative was a male staff member who served the food and appeared defensive bordering on aggressive when asked a couple of questions I. E. Have you forgotten the glass of wine? This was asked because the rest of us had received our drinks several minutes earlier. His unfortunate manner resulted in a reduced tip.

Went here today for Mother's Day meal. It was beautiful. Service was great, the waitress was very helpful and pleasant. She suggested the steak and ale pie, we all ended up with it, and it's the best pie I have ever eaten

Visited plonkers after a recommendation. Was very pleased we went .nice place .good atmosphere. Food was very nice and service was good. We would definitely visit again next time in york .

The service was lovely and the place looked great, but the food was pretty awful. I had a veggie bean chillie and rice. When it arrived I got a waft of a sweaty smell. Then I realised it was a powdery smell of possibly cayenne pepper. It destroyed the taste and when you got past the heat, there was no flavour. I love very hot things and enjoy getting past that and then being to taste the meal. This was terrible. They need to use chillies like jalapenos, sweet chillies that are sharp and/or scotch bonnets. If heat is what they are going for, scotch bonnets should do the trick. Also, there was a lack of beans and other vegetable substance. So it was effectively just cayenne pepper paste. Such a massive shame.

A great welcome from the staff who provided friendly and attentive service throughout our visit. The chilli was hot but very nice and the lasagne was lovely. I can totally recommend Plonkers and I would definitely visit again.

Really great atmosphere and brilliant, attentive helpful staff. We arrived later than expected due to traffic but staff were aware we were seeing show at opera house and got our meals cooked to order and with enough time to eat comfortably before show. Returned back after show and atmosphere still good with good music being played from the dj behind the bar. Saw some of the crew from show and enjoyed people watching and a good few gin/ tonics. Will definitely recommend and return when back visiting York.

Nice, reasonably-priced food in a nice place, friendly and efficient staff, and a good atmosphere. Would definitely go again, and I can recommend the hanging kebabs!

Great food and excellent service. We were off to the theatre so appreciated the fact that we didn't have to wait long for our food.

We've dined there a few times and we loved it as always. The food was good, the service was excellent and the music they have playing is always to our taste. We'll eat there again.

Great! Fabulous, attentive service. Great beers, great food, lovely 'ambience' .. Can't fault it! This will be our new lunch-time venue... We are not evening people.. Well done Plonkers!!!!!

My friends and I had a very enjoyable evening at Plonkers. The staff were friendly and looked after us well. We all enjoyed our food and the atmosphere was very good.

It had Good food and good beer. Friendly staff and nice chilled atmosphere (not stuck up). All for a reasonable price. I Would go again.

Excellent service, excellent food but the music was just a little loud for us. The restaurant ambience is good and the menu is a delight

Having been to Plonkers a couple of weeks ago for the Sunday carvery I treated my husband and granddaughter. It didn't disappoint. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday. Will be back very soon

Realising I was on my own for the weekend as hubby was away with work I made a reservation at Plonkers for Sunday lunch just for me. A little later I had a phone call to check that my table was for one and not 11. This mistake had happened before apparently. I arrived just before 1pm. My table was waiting with menu so I sat down and immediately was asked if I would like a drink. The lady explained the Sunday carvery was also available with a selection of meats. I chose the beef carvery which came with a selection of vegetables potatoes stuffing gravy and an enormous Yorkshire pudding. The meal was delicious and the service fantastic. I have been several times to this restaurant on an evening but never for Sunday lunch. I will definitely be back and next time maybe take my husband

Plonkers is a very wonderful experience in York. Good food, lively atmosphere, great staff. Great ales and wines. We visit every time we're in York.

Lovely steak and ale pie! Quite noisy with children running up and down and music speaker above our head! Couldn't hear our own conversation.Staff friendly.

Very nice food, excellent portion sizes and good value for money. Will certainly be eating here again in the future. Only reason did not score full marks was the fact that dogs were allowed in the pub when food was served.

Another gorgeous meal at a fabulous restaurant. I had the prawn red Thai curry and although quite hot was delicious. My friends had a burger and a green Thai curry and they enjoyed their meal as much as I did. Won't be long before I'm back again

Excellent food, service and draft beers. The home made steak pie is the best I have ever had and why we always make a bee line for Plonkers whenever we visit York.

Great value food and nice service by a lovely waitress. All food delivered on time and hot. Six of us had different meals all good!

Best pub I tried in York. Great food with a variety of offerings. The chicken with green curry was very well prepared. Wonderful staff, very accommodating.

Waited an hour for food and was not hot when arrived and expensive for what we got rather eat at our local Mason's arms Hotel and restaurant

We dined as a couple, had great food and found the service friendly and it was a good atmosphere. Stopped for the quiz which was on the night we dined. We would recommend this bar for a night out in York.
