We stayed for 2 nights at the Red Pump Inn with two other couples and two dogs for our annual walking weekend. From our very warm welcome to our very friendly goodbye we all felt very satisfied with our stay. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, tea and coffee making tray (and a winner for me a cafetiere), bathroom stocked with toiletries, fluffy towels...... Bed was great, we both slept well! We had booked in for a meal on the Friday evening and decided very quickly to book in for the Saturday too (be warned they do get busy so if you want a table get it booked early) The dogs were allowed to be with us in certain areas of the bar and snug room which was great for us as they were able to settle while we ate. Menu was varied with enough choice for us all, they even adapted a meal for one of the party who likes her meals plain. I had the fillet steak (medium rare) which was cooked to perfection, hubby commented that it was a little underdone for him which was fine with me as I wasn't about to share!!! :-) Everyone else in the party enjoyed their food too, we all loved the cheeseboard (good variety and quantity - one of my biggest gripes is a stingy cheese board - this one is definitely not that.... ) wine is reasonably priced and a good selection of ales for the men to choose from. Plenty of walking to be done from the Inn, Fran provided us with a print out of a walk which was a little challenging in places due to rain washing the path away, but it was manageable, we did feed this info back but none of us would have missed it, views and peace time to breath from our busy lives. Jonathan, Fran and their staff are all great, very friendly and accommodating, saying goodbye to our friends in the carpark we all said we will return and soon and we haven't felt like that about a place for a few years. (ha ha sorry gang we will be back ;-)........ A little gem in wonderful countryside.

Warm & friendly inn. 6 of us went for my birthday and we could not have had a better time. Went Friday evening, cold and dismal outside but warm atmosphere inside with roaring fire. Candle in my dessert and all the diners sang Happy Birthday, very embarrassing but lovely touch. Would like to go back on a summer evening to look at the views.

We timed our visit to the red pump well, it was our 35th wedding anniversary and st Patrick's day which gave us a taste of a live band playing at the pub which was amazing. Fran and Jonathan are the perfect hosts and no request is too small, the restaurant is cosy and warm especially when the fires are lit, with amazing food and staff that certainly know what they are doing. All in all a fantastic place to eat and stay.

We had a very enjoyable experience for our group of seven with vegan options provided for one of our party. Great beers, food and friendly staff encouraged a second visit during our weeks stay in the Forest of Bowland.
