After years gaining experience in a number of prestigious restaurants across the country now, at only 24, head chef Michael Carr has fulfilled his dream of opening his own. At Restaurant 92 on Station Parade in the tourist hotspot of Low Harrogate, not far from the central station, Carr shares his passion for food with lucky diners, injecting each dish with his creativity and putting exciting new twists on British cuisine, all created with the finest, locally-sourced produce. Begin your meal with some Orkney hand-dived scallops with baby gem lettuce, caesar aioli and smoked bacon, or some smoked eel and chicken wings with mustard and mushroom carpaccio. Main courses include Yorkshire beef Wellington with pomme puree and garlic kale, halibut with smoked garlic, cocoa nibs and salsify, and sweet tooths will be more than satisfied with the range of desserts that includes blackened cheesecake served with wild honey and charred figs, and banana mille feuille. Went for lunch. Prompt meet and greet. All menus explained. Drinks and meal choice taken by very friendly staff. Food tasty and beautifully presented. A lovely dining experience.
This must be the best restaurant in Yorkshire. The food is Michelin star quality, the staff and friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed. It is the perfect spot for a relaxed meal or a special night out.
This is our second experience of Restaurant 92, the first time we had the tasting menu (amended for my none fish eating tendancies) and that was phenomenal. This time we visited on a Saturday lunchtime and I had the two course lunch special whilst my fiancé had a mix from the a la carte and lunch menu. Service was excellent, I was never without an empty glass - be it of water or wine, and each course was explained to us. The food was served lovely and hot and tasted great, appearance was beautiful and a feast for the eyes. The lunchtime menu is an absolute bargain. We came away very happy.
Visited Restaurant 92 during the lunchtime. We started with the lunchtime set menu x 2 courses. Each course was such a delight, well presented and very tasty. The staff were very knowledgeable and passionate about food. The menu was explained to us and any questions were answered without hesitation. The staff were all very happy in their work which clearly came across. We decided to have a sweet too and this again was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to visiting again next time I am in Harrogate.
Harrogate has no shortage of good restaurants,but 92 is up a MichelinStar if it continues to cook and present such a high standard of cuisine. The welcome on arrival is warm and friendly and if you enjoy your wine you are in for a treat, because they have an extensive and really interesting list of wines from all over the world, chosen and supplied by a MW. The menu is well balanced with some old favourites re vamped and some interesting and different dishes . Languistine of pig jowl to the chefs' signature dish,Beef Wellington.,crispy pastry, a tasty but not overpowering stuffing and perfectly cooked ,tender pink filet of beef.This is a substantial dish so much so that a dessert was out of the question on this occasion. Great staff and all credit to the owner who keeps a close eye on detail. We'll be back soon to taste the desserts. Booking essential.
Wanted fine dining but with a warm relaxed atmosphere. This restaurant certainly fits this bill while retaining a special night out feeling. Warm relaxing bar on the side for pre drinks. Greeted with a friendly smile and professional manner. Served with a very innovative tasty amuse-bouche. We had the french onion soup for starters which was delicious and very imaginatively presented. Main of Free Range Roasted Truffle Chicken (for 2 persons) was excellent. I tried the new Rhubarb and ginger desert which was very cleverly constructed and most delicious. Thoroughly recommend the desert wine that is paired with it. Our head waiter was extremely charming, knowledgeable and friendly. A delight to talk to. Restaurant Website Gallery does not do justice to just how lovely the restaurant is with such a warm ambience. Can't wait for our next trip to Harrogate and a return to 92.
The restaurant and staff are great, the food was well presented and the staff explained the menu well. We were served with a platter of canapés before we ordered, we had scallops and French onion soup to start, very tasty and beautifully presented followed by Beef Wellington which was stunning, sadly we could not fit in a dessert, but were given a selection of petit fours with our coffee. We were disappointed in that we booked for 8.30 after trying to book for 8pm but didn't actually eat until 9.30pm as a larger party had been seated just before us. we have in the past (in other restaurants) been seated earlier because of larger parties so as not to be held up, added to that there wasn't a grill menu available which is disappointing on a Saturday night, no explanation given. We would still recommend this restaurant for a good night out as there is a wine bar next door for restaurant patrons as well which a whole of night experience.
Once again we enjoyed our visit to Restaurant 92.We took our family with us on this occasion, including our seven year old grand daughter. The restaurant went out of it's way to prepare specially made fish and chips which she really enjoyed. There was a wide selection of dishes and we all thoroughly enjoyed the ones we chose .We were not overpowered with food, the size of the portions was perfect.
It was ok, we had high expectations having been frequent customers of Van Zeller where Mike was head chef. We were slightly disappointed, we went for the early bird menu and this was not mentioned to us at all on arrival, we were just shown the main menu and the waitress gave us an up sell of the main menu. We ordered our food and the pre eats came out which were nice, then followed the bread which had been nuked in the microwave, it was steaming when it got to us and went hard as soon as it cooled, the butter was rock hard, only a small thing I know but for this type of establishment it should not be that way. The starters we ok, I had mushrooms on toast that were tasty but only a mouth full, my husband had the duck parfait which was ok but not memorable. Our mains were lovely, I had the pork belly, my husband had the ox cheek. For dessert I had strawberries my husband had jelly & ice cream, both ok but nothing special In general this restaurant was nice but nothing special, I wouldn't overly recommend
Excellent service and food. I've eaten in many Michelin starred restaurants where the quality, presentation and flavours of the food were not as good as Restaurant 92. I have dined in The Westbury, which I rate as one of the best restaurants in London, and the whole experience here was up to the very high standards set by Alyn Williams.
Our very first visit to Restaurant 92 which came highly recommended and it exceeded our expectations. The service was excellent - attentive without being invasive. We booked at 6.30pm to take advantage of the earlybird menu which was fabulous and finished with coffee. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We will definitley return. Jenny and Mark
Chose this restaurant after reading about it in The Times and was not disappointed. My husband and I finished off a lovely stay in Harrogate by eating in at Restaurant 92. It was fantastic, food sublime, wine delicious and very pleasant and informative staff. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in seriously good food.
A family outing-we booked for an early bird table. Service was outstanding, the staff took time to explain the menu and queried which dishes were suitable for a vegetarian that doesn't eat mushrooms! Food ,wine and water were served and replenished confidently and with the minimum of intrusion. The food was exquisite to the eye, aromas tantalizing and the textures and taste superb. All the family enjoyed the meal,the youngsters even finding space for pudding which sent them into raptures. No 92 is a dining experience in Harrogate that people should use and appreciate, we are lucky to have such a fine dining restaurant in the town.
100/100 A**** Absolutely amazing! Booked this after looking on trip advisor for a nice restaurant to celebrate our anniversary whilst in Harrogate for the weekend - I'm so pleased I booked it! Everything about the restaurant was fabulous - the atmosphere and staff are so welcoming and the food is to die for! The flavours were all beautiful and the presentation out of this world!! As soon as we had been seated we were given a glass of prosecco- it was so nice we ordered a bottle! Can't wait for our next trip to Harrogate so we can return and try the tasting menu!
Excellent service. We selected from the A La Carte menu. The food was attractively presented. My favourite courses were the hors d'ouvres and the starters. We were served warm bread and taramasalata dip which perfectly accompanied our fish starters of oysters and scallops. We shared the beef wellington for our main course which was cooked to perfection. The pre dessert of lemon meringue cornets were a lovely surprise. Had the passion fruit cigar for dessert which was pleasant but not nearly as tasty as the starters. Only negative was the slight lack of atmosphere but that may have been due to it not being fully booked and the formal nature of the restaurant. Overall A lovely dining experience for a special occasion.
The dining experience was first class. The food quality and presentation was excellent with an explanation of the dishes given by the staff who provided outstanding service. The cost of the meal represented great value. This was our first visit and we would not hesitate to recommend Restaurant 92.
Quality restaurant with innovative food. Some dishes are complex, but others are more straightforward. I think there is something for all except the most conservative diner. The atmosphere is quite bright with naked granite table tops but the service is warm. Restaurant 92 is something different in a town with many "chain" restaurants - it deserves to succeed.
On my second visit for lunch, like the first in May, the staff were really friendly, attentive and efficient, the menus were a sensible size (not too lengthy and with a varied selection of choices within each menu), and the choice of wines quite sufficient (perhaps a larger choice of wine by the glass would have been beneficial). The dishes for starters, mains and desserts were superb, in presentation, taste and quantity. All in all, a first class experience, and I will make this my restaurant of choice in Harrogate.
My first visit. Nice menu and food was cooked really well. Had the Chicken with truffles for main course and scallops to start. Nice side dished as well. Services could of been better and I think they ere a bit under staffed. The Beef Wellington for two looks like by far the most popular dish on the menu given how many I saw being served and two of my party ordered it. it looks really nice. This restaurant has a lot of potential and I expect it to improve even more over time. I would go back and would recommend people to try it.
This was an wonderful experience. Having walked across town from the other side of Valley Gardens on a really lovely summer evening, we were greeted and seated by very attentive staff. The waiter explained each dish and wines, from a good and varied menu. My daughter and her husband settled for the Beef Wellington which they knew from previous experience, would be good, and pronounced it "excellent". My fish dish was also excellent. The sweet menu looked really exciting and was enjoyed by my guests, but unfortunately not for diabetics. - Though I could not have done justice to the cheese board.
Service friendly and attentive. Menu for Sunday lunch is small and I find that reassuring that the food would be fresh. I was not disappointed. I was in a party of 3. I was hungry having just completed a half marathon. The two courses were fine for me. My wife and mother-in -law felt that the beef main course was a bit large for them, though they like it very much. This was my fourth visit (first for Sunday lunch). Would definitely go again.
Excellent meal ! We started with a cocktail from the attached bar which was very good. We thought about the tasting menu but the call of the beef wellington was too strong , and it was the right choice as it was amazing 😉 the scallop and foie gras starters were superb with little explosions of different flavours. As a bonus the wine list was good and inexpensive. Oh and the service was really good too. Highly recommend
I normally only like to feedback positive comments but my experience was very disappointing. We were a party of 4 very much looking forward to dining at Restaurant 92 but unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. The reason for this was due to the lack of options left on the menu. The menu isn't extensive which is what I would expect from a fine dining restaurant so struggled to understand how they could get the accounts so wrong. Our food order was changed three times because we were told that the kitchen had ran out of food so we were forced to pick options that weren't our preference. They were also limited on the red wine that was available. We weren't late diners. Parties were arriving after us so I'm sure that we weren't alone in thinking the availability of menu options was poor. The annoying thing is that I phoned the restaurant 20 minutes ahead of arriving to confirm our booking, if I had been informed that they were running out of food I would not have went. The waiting staff were good, very embarrassed and apologetic but this didn't change the fact that we had to pay a lot of money for options we didn't prefer. I wish we had spent elsewhere and got what we wanted.
My. Wife and I had a lovely evening with friends here last night. We started with pink peppercorn G&Ts in the Bacchus bar and then walked through. The restaurant was not full, but the atmosphere was very pleasant. The food was excellent, albeit none of us had room for dessert, so I cannot comment on that course. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and definitely add to the experience, There are some very good restaurants in Harrogate nowadays, but this is one of the best.
Had a fantastic meal at Restaurant 92. A special occasion and the food and whole experience lived up to the occasion. Absolutely delicious food, very pleasant staff and a very nice ambience. Would highly recommend.
although all the food was made to a high standard I just think there was a few things that were silly mistakes. the dishes need a bit more refining. langoustine starter could not fault in the slightest halibut main left something to be desired. pomme puree which was not a puree and was in fact just creamed potato. I told them about this but they didn't seem to understand what I was talking about. prices do not warrant the food at the minute but I can see i being a good place to go very soon once the chef has settled.
Lunch today was delightful - Michael Carr's food was sublime. Duck "ham" and eggs was not only colourful but wonderfully constructed on the plate (the perfectly poached egg was hidden away beneath home cooked crisps). Prawn and Crayfish Tortellini was complimented by a rich, but not overpowering hollandaise, accented by wilted spinach and capers. Walter and David were incredibly hospitable. A great way to spend a Friday!
Thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. The decor is modern and unfussy. The staff are friendly and attentive. A selection of complimentary canapés arrived including squid ink meringue and Parmesan biscuit. The beef wellington mains was tasty and perfectly prepared £48 for two. The desserts were delicate and delicious £9. The food was matched with choice wines from a good selection including an excellent French chateau Malbec for £28.
Great experience...the chef was amazing and the ambience very chic...We enjoyed the dinner immensely...we had a taster menu... The only downside was the original discussions to change a couple of the taster dishes to ones in the main menu due to our personal tastes...the waiters were not very accommodating at first...but once - after a little perseverance - this was agreed with the Chef - the experience was 10 out of 10... I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation !!!
Went for their 2 course early bird special, which can only be taken between 6pm and 6.30pm and requires the table being vacated after 90 minutes. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Menu was good with unusual selections. Food was served quickly, beautifully cooked and presented and tasted delicious. Staff were keen for us to vacate the table after 70 minutes, and we felt rushed to leave, which took the edge of what would have been a lovely experience.
This was our second visit to Restaurant 92 following a most enjoyable first visit shortly after it opened a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, this visit was not up to the previous standard due to the food being served rather on the cool side, hence our downgrading on this visit.
The lunch menu offered sufficient choice to satisfy. The dishes were well conceived, tasteful and very well prepared and presented. Quantities were well judged. The service was professional, welcoming, knowledgeable and discrete.The decor is also tasteful and discrete. The music was just of acceptable content and volume for our ageing ears. Overall this must be the place to go in Harrogate if you are looking for seriously conceived and executed haute cuisine, without being over the top.
Excellent The food was delicious, exciting flavour combinations, and amazing attention to detail with presentation, the desserts were really good. Catered well for the vegetarian Service was efficient, the staff very welcoming and friendly. They were enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food. An excellent and imaginative addition to Harrogates dining circle. High end catering at its very best the dishes are magnificently presented and do not disappoint offering great flavour combinations. The staff are knowledgeable and the surroundings a leisurely contrast to some establishments. Be prepared for attentive service and a no rush ethos - just relax and enjoy dining at its very best
A delightful dining experience with attentive staff and mouthwatering food. The ambience is pleasantly restful and we were left to choose our menu without any undue pressure and each course was served with brief explanations of the ingredients. Water was provided without prompting and we were thanked politely for our visit. A repeat visit is definitely to be considered.
Very friendly people and keen to please. The food was generally very good, but I asked for my steak rare, and my wife asked for medium well and when they came they looked exactly the same, so my wife sent hers back. The positioning of the tables was a little odd, couldn't really have a private conversation without others listening in. I'd certainly go back, and maybe ask for a different table. The service was good and attentive despite their being two down on staff for the night.
The ambiance of the dining room, charming and helpful staff, excellent wines and the exquisite food were a delight to experience. Without doubt the finest food prepared, cooked, served and presented that I have had the pleasure of enjoying. 92 is an jewel in the town and we shall return to Harrogate and 92 as soon as possible.
Went for lunch and had the set menu. There was a good range of choices for each course - including vegetarian and fish options. The food was imaginative and prepared to a high standard; the service was impeccable. I could not find fault with my lunch. A definite stand-out experience in Harrogate and I will certainly return.
We visited Restaurant 92 on Easter Day and had a delicious late lunch there. The menu is imaginative, the service was really good and it's a lovely setting.
Excellent service and location. We tried the tasting menu - a little disappointed for the price. We felt it should have been priced at £65-70 per person and the dishes weren't as refined as they should have been. Deep fried oyster was tasteless, overpowering anchovies etc. scallops were delicious. We have eaten in Michelin star restaurants where tasting menus were more refined and cheaper. However, forgetting the cost, it was good food so would go back and try a la cart menu next time.
Really nice independent restaurant. We went for the tasting menu, we really liked the sound of another dish on the al a carte and they let us add to the tasting without hesitation. Food is a high standard, as good as top restaurants in London and is accompanied by a relaxed, friendly service. Can't recommend enough!
Lovely place for a ladies lunch . Pleasant atmosphere , efficient informative staff, excellent choices on the menu. Our 3 course meal was beautifully presented . Reasonably priced wine and quality coffee to round of the experience . We enjoyed meeting the Chef as we were leaving the restaurant . We will definitely be back
We went to No92 for a Tasting menu with wine flight.From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. Attentive service each course and wine fully explained. Each dish had amazing flavours and textures and stunning to look at. This restaurant should be experienced and enjoyed.Harrogate is lucky to have such a brilliant dining restaurant.
We have visited this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed . The food and service has always been exceptional . I would recommend a visit to anyone who wants the best food locally . The prices are reasonable when you enjoy the passion that has obviously gone into every dish.
Impeccable food. Beautifully presented and every bite delicious. I had my steak cooked rare and my husband medium-well and they were both spot-on. Service was very good too with just a couple of small quibbles. Very friendly though. One of the best dinners out we've had in the area. We'll be back!
Beautifully presented, with exciting flavours and interesting ingredients…… it definitely tempts you to eat! Those in the group who had halibut thought the portion size not quite large enough to satisfy their appetite; the rest of us were happily full. Relaxing decor and attentive staff; however the star of the show is the food, which of course is as it should be!
Really delicious food, beautifully presented. The amuse-bouches were amazing and very creative (squid ink macarons among other things), the starter of duck terrine was very smooth and creamy and the onion soup was perfect, and the main course of beef wellington was cooked to perfection. Great food and very reasonably priced.
I t was an interesting menu and difficult to decide. Having made our decisions there were no regrets when the meals arrived. It was a lunchtime outing for the four of us and the starters and main course were really good. We enjoyed the food immensely without feeling too full. We will recommend it to our friends and will certainly return.
