First visit but definitely will be back. Good menu. Great prices. Friendly staff and amazing cocktails

Not enough staff on ..over an hour for food .but at least we were told as we had to be away to theatre..so no food ordered. Drinks were fine . You never seem to have enough staff on at lunchtime when there is a matinée at the playhouse.

friendly staff and good service. Our starters were good. Not impressed by the pepper sauce served with my steak - very watery and quite tasteless, nor the sauce on the chicken pasta - also watery.

we had a booking at 6 and arrived at 5:30 and our table wasn't ready, which is fine. We got a drink and sat at a table that was reserved from 6pm. twice we were told that they would need table back for 6, even although we had already told them that we had a booking at 6pm. I had ordered steak, fries, peas and peppercorn sauce, I was given a steak only! not the best service and probably won't be back

The chicken burgers were absolutely lovely—flavorful, well-cooked, and clearly made with care. The service was also very good; staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit. However, the fish was a bit of a letdown. While it was nicely presented, it was clearly frozen rather than fresh, which affected the taste and texture. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very enjoyable. Overall, a mostly positive experience, especially if you stick to the chicken options.

Always visit the S&L when in Edinburgh. I had scampi, chips and peas. Chips were lukewarm and only 8 pieces of scampi. Husband had cesar salad and had to ask for serrated knife to enable him to cut into pieces. Disappointed this time but the staff were lovely.

Food very average, server very pleasant, won’t be rushing back

Had to wait for our table as the restaurant was very busy. Menu was disappointing as not the same choice as online. Food was disgusting. The nachos tasted stale and the fish was rubbery.

Had to move from our table after two hours was given another table then had to move from that manager said he would get us another table but he didn't so had to leave think it's ridiculous that we only get table for so long as we had food but we were also buying drink

Met a friend for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. My friend, who hadn't been to the restaurant before, had the Scampi chips and mushy peas which she really enjoyed. I had the Mac & Cheese and from having that dish in other bar/restaurants, I reckon The Slug & Lettuce is the best I have had. Our Server was polite, accommodating when we asked for another table and friendly. We'll be back.👏👏

Had a good meal, nice bottle of wine, but thank you to Stu who was great, made sure all was ok for us , from entering to leaving. Will be back

We booked for dinner before the theatre and we waited 30 min for dessert after main course and both ordered at same time. Didn’t enjoy dessert as had to gulp it down. Very disappointed.

Our meals were good but it was the wait. It took a while for a waiter/waitress to come over & take a drinks order, then unfortunately we had to wait a long time to get our starters then main meal so we had to rush it as we had a performance to go & see nearby. This is why I made the booking for 5.30 pm to give us a maximum two hour window. A little bit disappointed overall.
