Totally underwhelming, average food and high prices. Lacked atmosphere as it was dead. No need to book at this place as it was empty. Nice friendly staff - but didn't make up for the fact we went there for a treat.
The food was incredibly scrumptious, the service was excellent too. Foodies can't go wrong with this place. Being from Italy and Portugal we are not easily impressed by food, yet we were mindblown by the cooking at the Sutton Gatekeeper.
Two items were off the menu. Ordered the cod loin instead which was ok but the potatoes were a little hard. Our waitress was lovely and the service was excellent.
Curry mutton pie was quite dry and pastry over cooked. Burgers were great and steak very tender. Was asked to replace salad for chips and were charged for which surprised me.
Beautiful food. Presentation and taste excellent. The soup was amazing but all our meals were above expectation. Thanks for great service and a lovely evening.
Excellent Food and service this was our first visit and it certainly won't be our last.To make sure of getting a table book early you won't be disappointed.
What a delightful country pub, but don't let 'pub' put you off, the food was incredible better than some restaurants. A really interesting choice on the menu, but if like me you aren't as daring there's food to suit. Friendly staff, who certainly waited on you. It's a place we're adding to the list to return too.
The pub had a nice ambience and the staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was delicious and we will definitely be going back.
My food was tasty, but my partner came down with suspected food poisoning within an hour or so of leaving, tainted what initially seemed a good meal.
Lovely casual Sunday Lunch, the service was brilliant, very pleasant waitress, all served with a smile. The food was wonderful, the roasted veg was beautifully camarilsed and the meat Suberb! All served with probably the crispest Yorkshire pud! Will definitely return.
Food, service and ambiance were all first class. We will go back again despite a 6 Mile drive. Will also recommend you to friends. I already have!
Friendly, great service, lovely food. We took our two kids (6 & 2) for mother’s day lunch. Staff were attentive and the whole place had an informal family friendly vibe. They let dogs in too.
Excellent atmosphere and service. For us the menu is something we would enjoy occasionally but not too often. Well worth a visit and we'll be going back.
The menu has varied and unusual choices including plenty of game. Our dishes were delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere was vibrant..
Great place, great staff and as it’s name suggests a menu to match so great voice of game if you fancy something different. A lovely evening
Several of the main courses were off and also most of the puddings. They said they had had a very busy weekend! No atmosphere and not very warm
Really lovely meal. Well cooked and presented. Courteous staff couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely cosy modern surroundings. Sat as long as we wanted. Warm room very cold day! Can’t wait to come back!
Wonderful friendly service. Great Information about local sourcing of food. Excellent tasting food, excellent value for money, big portions. Dog friendly. Great range of ales and wines
Very friendly welcome and the food was good. All our starters were exceptional. The pub atmosphere was homely, full of people that knew each other and the landlord went out of his way to be attentive. Great staff too.
The Sutton Gamekeeper is a fabulous pub with a great atmosphere. It serves super food and has lovely open fires. To top it off it's dog-friendly and relaxed.
Well thought out interior with every effort made by the owner to make you feel at home. Exciting menu that changes very regularly and has something for everyone. Worth mentioning that they are open to changing elements of your meal to suit your taste /dietary requirements if you ask them to - this I gather from overhearing another table,we ourselves didn’t want to change a thing,it was all amazing!
The food and service were excellent in a very friendly atmosphere with a roaring wood fire close by. as there were 4 of us and we chose the 2 course Christmas menu we received a complimentary bottle of red wine. Good value for money overall we will definitely be going again.
A Recently refurbished pub with a lovely warm and friendly atmosphere. The Land lord and staff offer a superb welcome and the imaginative menu has enough choice for you to want to go back again soon. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great service and great food in a nice atmosphere. The staff were helpful and the menu offered a good choice for all tastes. Excellent value as well.
High quality, local food at very reasonable prices. Excellent service. The roast beef and pork were lovely and the mustard leeks and red cabbage were delicious. The cheese board was satisfying and their own fruit bread with it was tangy. The local ice creams were novel and flavoursome. The decor could be a little cosier but then it is walker and dog friendly. All in all, a new favourite for me.
Excellent service and nice, buzzy atmosphere. I ordered the beef and was not told it would be rare. If that was the only way it could be cooked, I probably would not have ordered it.
Lovely food, good job we booked because it was a very busy Sunday lunchtime. Nice staff and good service. Not too expensive either. Would recommend.
