Was first visit, perfect lunch in beautiful location, highly recommend.
Have visited many times to eat and always enjoyed the food . I always recommend to friends .
Good service, good food, good value. Will try to go again.
Great food and a good atmosphere on a Saturday evening.
This was our first visit to The Sutton Gamekeeper. It rebranded from The Lamb four years ago. We were recommended to go by friends
4 of us had dinner, scallops starter ; delicious, mains rack of lamb, excellent: curried lamb pie, super! Definitely will repeat visit .
Delightful lunch, excellent food, very convivial atmosphere, we will definitely return!
Lovely and imaginative food fairly priced. Despite being a Tuesday evening, it was very busy and the staff woked very hard. We enjoyed our evening there.
We will definitely become regulars at this restaurant. Can’t wait to introduce this place to our out of town and overseas visitors
pleasant evening dining with well-cooked good food from a well-varied menu
Poor choice of lunch menus. Chilli on top of pineapple was not listed on the menu and my brother in law is allergic to it so wasn't happy. No apologies given. Will not be returning.
Lovely food and drink, always a great menu with fresh local produce
Great place to eat , all the family enjoyed the food and drinks
Excellent food as always, staff are very friendly and welcoming
Food and atmosphere very nice! Service a bit slow but the local was full...so I can understand
Thoroughly enjoyable lunch for two. Food excellent as was the service. No complaints whatsoever
Beautiful pub, stunning food and amazing attentive service would definitely recommend
Nice atmosphere.Lovely food.Friendly service.Would definitely come again & would highly recommend.
Lovely food. The live music was too loud. We didn’t know there was live music when we booked to eat here. It would have been nice background music if it hadn’t been so loud. We left as soon as we had eaten.
Lovely food, nice ambience, nothing too much trouble for James and his staff. Starters of pigeon and chanterelles were wonderful, as were the steak and beef short rib mains. Sweets tremendous too! Really enjoyed it and will be back!
Blew us away! The starters in particular were an incredible surprise and out of this world. Cannot recommend enough. We will be revisiting regularly especially as it's only down the road!
Excellant night, good food. There was a large very noisy shooting party in but they added to the friendly atmosphere. The staff were particularly good, very friendly, helpful plus, despite the bar being busy, always remembered our exact drinks order refills.
Fantastic food ! A family run business who care about food & more importantly care about the quality of produce they bring in. A good sign of a good pub is when the landlords own wife & kids are also eating in the restaurant. The menu is mainly game which is locally sourced by a local gamekeeper, (so not for Vegans) but saying that, my friend was a Vegan, I phoned earlier to explained their is a Vegan coming for a meal, they were very accommodating & prepared a beautiful meal. If you are a Vegan & have an issue with others eating meat in front of you, this is not the place for you. I do not eat much meat myself as supermarket produce is poor quality & mass produced, but when eating out after a 17 mile hike & local Game is on the menu I go for it ! It’s good quality local produce that’s honest. To the Vegan who gave a damning review....... 1. If you had checked the website menu before arriving you could of then called to ask if they could arrange a Vegan meal or if that does not suit you, put your Vegan walking boots back on as their are plenty of places to eat that will cater to your requirements. These country pubs struggle to survive, we should support them, especially when they go to so much trouble to care about the quality of food they serve to hikers passing by & the local community. 2. what’s wrong with venison burgers for kids, better for their health than a Mcdonalds ?! 3. The name says it all, SUTTON GAMEKEEPER ! Get over it ! It’s a great Pub !
Excellent Food, Great Quality Ingredients , Really nice atmosphere, Friendly attentive staff. Open Fires and Resident Dog to boot. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys good locally sourced produce.
Another excellent meal and great atmosphere. We are looking forward to your next event which will be the game evening later this month. Thank you Sutton Gamekeeper
Very welcoming environment and the food is fantastic. Have visited here quite a few times now. Will definitely be going back again. Highlight for the other half is Boss the owners dog.
Fabulous food. Will definitely return. Very hard to chose from the great menu.... I had the most delicious scallops, followed by beautiful medium rare beef, and managed to squeeze in some rhubarb ice-cream. 😍
My friend and I really enjoyed it. She is vegie and it would have been good to have more vegetatian options. The only thing suitable on the menu was not available but upon asking, she was offered an alternative. The turkey I ordered was succulent and well cooked - as were the accompanying vegetables. Very nice staff. This is my "local" and I am pleased it is on my doorstep!
The food here is amazing, quality produce cooked to perfection. It's not average pub grub, the menu has obviously been properly thought out and uses seasonal ingredients. Cosy inviting interior, excellent service and friendly staff, can't fault it.
Excellent food - Best Sunday lunch in the area. I would definitely recommend the beef / sirloin. The service was great as well. No complaints
Staff friendly & polite. Had to wait before being seated. Food was lovely, but served on slightly warm plate. No serving spoons for the veg. Overall though would eat here again .
Some of the reviews don't do it justice james and the team work really hard ,the food fantastic presentation excellent looking forward to are next visit
I have had a lot of lovely meals in the Gamekeeper and my steak last night was excellent and very tasty. It is a very friendly pub and dogs are allowed in the bar area. John
Lovely atmosphere, good service and delicious food. All in all a very good experience. We shall definitely be returning soon. Made for a great evening catching up with old friends.
The best gastro pub Sunday lunch we have ever had, excellent quality, very nice service and very efficient booking system. We will definitely be recommending to our friends .
One of the best Sunday lunches I ever had. Meat was superbly cooked as were all of the veggies. Great presentation, sublime taste and super friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help. Thank you.
Excellent setving staff. Good quality food but expensive. 5 cheese cheeseboard dissapointing. Nice ambiance but because of not being particularly good value for money, may not rush back.
Fab food , good atmosphere . Not been before Friday last and so delighted went the following Wednesday. If the car park is full , there is a road opposite . James the landlord really knows his game. Venison and Guinness pie is sublime as is wild duck and the fish. A hidden gem - really cosy rural pub but really high quality and reasonably priced food, gin, beer and wine
Excellent, cosy pub/restaurant. Tastefully decorated and friendly staff. Great menu including game and food freshly cooked and well presented. Good choice of beers and wines. Would definitely recommend a meal here.
An excellent Sunday lunch of roast beef and the trimmings , a full bodied bottle of malbec and a sweet and coffee in very convivial surroundings!
Excellent menu, attentive service, including an at table chat with mien host. Sensible portions and fair prices. Altogether an enjoyable experience I would recommend to others
Great food and very nice cosy atmosphere. The selection on the menu should keep everybody happy. My favourite was the Venison haunch which was oustanding. The best steak I have had in a very long time!
Really great food and wine. Menu reflected local suppliers and seasonal fayre. Service was excellent too. atmosphere warm and welcoming with a Saturday night buzz.
Wow! Really delicious home cooked food, good service with lovely friendly staff and it’s very good value for money. A real gem of a local pub.
Been to the Sutton game keeper lots of times and always look forward to our next visit staff lovely food amazing and to my husbands delight they do a wonderful Bloody Mary! Can’t wait for our next visit .
Lovely, cosy pub, tastefully decorated. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Menu was varied and the roast beef was exceptional. Would highly recommend Sutton Gamekeeper.
Menu had a good range, plenty of game. Service was excellent, food well presented, good value for money. Good selection of wines, the Malbec was excellent. We will be back!!
Fantastic food, lovely owners. Great location too. So impressed with the main courses that we ordered desserts & they were outstanding too. We will definitely be back!
Second time eating here and the food was excellent both times. We look forward to eating again at The Sutton Gamekeeper in the very near future.
Sister down from Yorkshire for flying visit, used to fine dining in God's own county - so had to be the best! Loved the atmosphere and cool décor, impressed by the range of choice on the menu. Excellent food and wine, made our evening. Such a friendly and relaxed occasion. Thanks.
