Tasty food and friendly staff, service was a big slow but they were busy that day so understandable

The whole experience was underwhelming. I came to try the jollof sushi which they did not have. The food took long to arrive (over an hour wait). The food wasn't has good as expected; only enjoyed the mac and cheese and Plantain. I ordered the 'big chopper' (lamb chops and jollof rice option) and I did not enjoy it at all. Such a shame. I don't think I would be visiting again.

Nice, intimate restaurant, staff were very accommodating, food is 10/10, so much flavour, couldn’t finish it but took the rest home, polite staff but the cocktails were pricey and weak! Overall I was very satisfied.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and went to sweet 1 . The entire experience was amazing the food was delicious and well presented. The staff were very courteous.

They need a mind the step sign on the floor! The Jollof rice wasn't nice the pasta and other foods we ordered was lovely but had to wait for the rest of our main course to come, my partner had nearly finished when the rest of his food came out. Not 100% sure if I would return as it's too pricey.

Food was served quickly. The food was amazing all the staff were friendly and efficient. The music was good got a bit Loud and the type of music may not have matched a Wednesday evening vibe but would definitely be coming back!

Welcoming staff. My initial order I had to return, but they more than made up this by providing 2 tasty replacements. The oxtail is amazing. The staff accommodated a move of table for us as there was a large birthday party next to us. I will definitely be going back, but probably earlier in the day, to have a quieter experience. The background music was fantastic. Overall a good experience but room to improve.

We were a bit late and the staff was very helpful. The staff were polite, pleasant and professional. The food was great.

The waiter David was a great host. However the food was not so much. Oxtail was 70% full of bones, rice and peas was saltly and the Jellof rice taste burnt. Everything else ordered was tasty. But unfortunately will not be returning.

Music was unnecessarily loud, it's a restaurant not a night club. Staff were lovely and respectful. Food was good but definitely had better Seafood Boils. Potatoes were under cooked and seafood over cooked!!!! Lamb chops were done spot on. Broccoli came cold but staff remedying this quickly. Alcohol was over priced. Overall I would go again and try something different

Food was lovely.. could had been hotter on some items. Always the waiter who I think is the owner was a little bit over pushy on what to order but a part from that a lovely evening and food was tasty.

Went to this place for the first time with my sister and friends. First thing we noticed was that the music was a little loud and found ourselves having to shout to hear each other. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. Food was ok. Would I go back back again.......... erm yeah.

Paid to reserve a table. Upon arrival, the server was searching for a table for us. After finally being seated, we waited 20 minutes for someone to even ask if we wanted a drink, since no servers came we had to literally flag them down to come and take our order. Food came out in reasonable time and tasted ok but definitely not worth the prices they charged. 4 table spoons of jollof rice is £5. Aesthetics looked cheap and Common. City prices but definitely far from the city. Good food but definitely won't be coming back.

We arrived at 4.20pm for a 4 30pm booking. We were greeted with a lovely smile and shown to our seats. Straight away we were told you have 2 hours for the booking. So we proceeded to order drinks and starters. Cocktails were absolutely lovely and strong which is always a plus. They were also a decent size so good value for money. Starters were lovely but surprisingly at 4.30 they had run out of the jellof sushi, which to me was very early to run out especially for a Saturday, so we ordered an alternative the prawns which were big and juicy and tasted amazing. Next the mains came out, again good portions especially the curry goat, nice tender cooked meat and good flavours, I just wish there was a bit more sauce but I'll live. The let down for me was being rushed or pushed out before our time. We packed our food and were finishing off our drinks and talking when the bill was presented to us then the card machine. We were also told that we were late to our booking time was up, at this time it was 6pm. We proceeded to explain we were not late at the table was still booked for another 30 minutes. We were then told that another booking had arrived early and the table was needed. For the first time visiting it actually ruined the experience for me, which is a shame as I had been waiting to come here for a long time and this was my first real outing after pregnancy and birth.

The food was great but the service was slow. We waited an hour to receive our starters and mains.

The food was tasty, large portion and friendly staffs. Not too expensive, u get value for what u pay. It was quite noisy when I got there but it's understandable cos it's a small space. Overall I enjoyed my visit, I appreciate the way customers' birthdays are celebrated. I highly recommend sweet1 restaurant.
