Everything was just lovely, the food, the bar staff, we felt the waiting staff in the restaurant was the only issue apart from that a brilliant hotel

There seemed to be plenty of staff but we still had to ask to order food and for our table to be cleared after eating. Average food. Nice environment and decor but highly unlikely to retun.

Food was good as usual and we had a happy family meal. Unfortunately the service was not up to the usual high standard and we were kept waiting between courses.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, good food nicely presented. Visited last year whilst attending the Bird Fair so thought it worth a second visit. This time ate in the restaurant, a lovely table by the window and yes worth the second visit.

Excellent lunch at this super place. Friendly staff and good food. Waiter brought the 'wrong' risotto out but this was quickly replaced with a nice apology. Relaxed spot, dog-friendly. The only drawback is lack of parking on site (one of our party was disabled) so we had to drop him off and then park in the Tesco which is about 100 yards away. We did some shopping there later, so didn't feel too cheeky ...

Lovely place, lovely food and lovely people...bit confused and disappointed by the Eton Mess...three blobs of cream sprinkled with a tiny bit of meringue and three halves of strawberry 😳. Having said that will definitely be going back again

Very pleasant experience, lovely restaurant, delicious food, friendly staff. The only downside was having to ask 3 times and wait half an hour for the bill. However, we would definitely go back again, and recommend to family and friends!

The service was very slow and disjointed. However the food was very good, hot and tasty. The chicken dish being particularly tasty according to my guest.

We waited 45 minutes for our lunch to arrive. There were seven of us. We all ordered sandwiches except one person who ordered a burger. When we arrived the pub was quiet. We had to watch as others arrived and their food came before ours. One of our group had to leave without having had her lunch as she had waited so long and needed to go to a meeting. At one point we asked if our food was coming soon, and we were told it was coming right away - however will waited a further ten minutes. The person serving us appeared stressed and rushed. It would have been nice if he had offered no charge for our drinks (all soft drinks) as some compensation.

Excellent food and service. Nice friendly service and good value for money. Had the Sunday roast beef, cooked perfectly and ample portions with good selection of vegetables. We had the port and Stilton rarebit, and the smoked salmon Tian as starters. Couldn't manage a dessert.

A comedy of errors. No choice of roast meat left, when we eventually received meal after over 1 hours wait, one tiny slither of meat, 1 green bean, uncooked broccoli and new potatoes ( roasts had had a mysterious accident). Apologies from manager, drinks and dinner on the house, still had to pay £6.50 for 3 cokes! There wasn’t an offer of any bread of olives during our wait, whilst everyone around us was eating. Should have followed gut feeling and left after they told us there was no chicken, but had 2 hungry children in tow.

We had a really lovely evening at The Admiral Hornblower. The meal was lovely and the staff were very attentive and made the evening special for us. Our table was right by the log fire and we spent a nice. relaxing evening enjoying our meal. The menu was varied with plenty of choice. We also stayed at the Hornblower and had two very nice breakfasts with local produce. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they all appeared to enjoy their work and all had great customer service attitude. Thank you.

The restaurant has various seating areas, and I was pleased that we were sat in a cozy room with a log fire, this meant the few diners that had ventured our mid week in January enjoyed an excellent ambience. The food was good quality and the service a very high standard. I was treating my husband for his birthday so we were also staying the night, cant fault anything. We will definitely return and I will recommend to frinds.

The food was really good. The spoiler was a large family party and the kids were running around and making a lot of noise letting off balloons, shouting etc. . We and the table next us had to shout over it. I know it is difficult to stop this and daresay their bill was quite large and you wouldn’t want to put them off coming again! - especially as at least two of the adults were using party horns as well - but is there no way a polite request could be made for at least children to keep their seats and keep, the noise down. ?

a lovely meal and the ambiance was great. we were looked after very well without being intrusive . the menu had plenty of choice. the prices were about right. we were seated straightaway and orders and food delivered quite quickly. It was a busy evening as it was Christmas but did not interfere with the restaurant.

Only criticism is it was really noisy therefore difficult to chat. Appreciate there is not much the restaurant could have done as it was just really busy. Lovely food. Good service and really pleasant waiters.

Very good fish and chips, polite and friendly staff. My only criticism is that the back door bangs. Going back next week, and the week after.
