The environment was too loud. The white wine was served in a red wine glass. The food was okay, nothing special. It's worth to mention that we did not try the 6 Scottish dish menu.

It was rushed, food was cold. We had been so looking forward to this experience but felt we were on a conveyor belt. I hadn’t drunk my gin fizz before they had brought out the next course and wine to our table. Couple of highlights…the canapé for me and the lemon posset for my husband. The venison might have been very nice but it was cold but according to the waitress that was how it was supposed to be! Dessert wine undrinkable. Feel totally ripped off

In Cambridge, which where I live, there is a restaurant described as 'shabby chique'. Let's stick with that. However the food was all quite superb. I had the 6 course tasting menu, and all courses were wonderful. The flight of wines was equally good. The only thing which puzzled me was the price. How on earth do you manage to produce food of this quality for the what for these days is a very low price!

This was the best restaurant meal I had in Edinburgh for my recent trip. I had a perfectly done sea trout which was tremendously delicious and the most perfectly crisp skin which u can hear crackle with each bite. The risotto was also spot on and even the side was good. The hasselback potatoes were amazing. Baked to perfection and tremendously tasty. A great meal!

Honestly nothing too impressive and slightly over priced Undeniably steak and hand cut chips were nice, and really substantial. Portion size was good and wait staff was friendly, helpful

I originally booked for 4, not realising we would be 6, but tables were quickly rearranged for us and we had a nice quiet corner to relax in. The food and wine were all delicious, especially the sea trout with curried mussels and the venison. It's a little on the expensive side, but perfect for what was a special occasion meeting up with old friends up for the weekend. The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble and were very obliging.

Visited for the first time for our wedding anniversary. Staff were really lovely and welcoming. We chose the 6 course tasting menu and my husband had the paired wines. Food was excellent and my husband said the wines went well. The haggis course was both our favourites, It was amazing. I have to be honest though the pork main dish was a little dry and for that reason it wasn’t perfect. It wouldn’t put me off and we will return and I recommend to others to try. At £49 for a 6 course tasting menu great value.

We arrived a bit early and were easily accommodated and once seated provided with our menus. The options were clearly explained to us and we were left to make our decisions whilst the member of staff got our prosecco. As this was a tasting menu, there was no choice but that did not at all detract from our experience. The food was lovely and service excellent, no rush between courses and always asked if we wanted to wait a few minutes between each course. I elected for the wine pairing, the Katherine Hills, Shiraz was lovely. This was a lovely meal and worth a visit.

lovely place and amazing atmosphere. wasn't high up on the beetroot starter - it's mainly just chopped beetroot! but the mains were superb and after a yr with no steak that was worth the wait - yum :)

We booked early, 6pm, and it was quite quiet so not the usual buzz of chatter. Not the restaurant’s fault! We visit twice a year as we visit Edinburgh twice a year. It was great to see they had survived Covid, same owner, friendly and made to feel very welcome. Thank you.
