It's always great to be in The Cellar Door: good food, nice drinks, great service, lovely atmosphere. Even the location, on the busy George IV Bridge, is not in your mind when you take the steps down into the restaurant.

Fantastic service, lovely atmosphere. We were well looked after and the waitress paid particular attention to the fact that it was one of our parties birthday. When dessert was served it was decorated with a candle. The food was very tasty, well presented and very good value for money. We had 3 courses for £20. Would recommend and will be back again for another team meal out :)

A lovely little restaurant with very good value set menu. Staff friendly and efficient. The worst thing is the stairs! I hadn't realised the venue was downstairs, even though you enter from George IV Bridge level. Hardly their fault though! Interestingly, as we got up to leave after lunch, there was a chocolate workshop starting to take place and that looked good too. I would definitely return.

Small concealed entrance lead to a larger restaurant downstairs. Food was amazing, not huge portions but we were all stuffed after. Presentation and taste were 5* and the service was every bit as good, there was 5 of us and a couple of quite fussy eaters but nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were extremely polite, friendly and accommodating. Have already recommended to friends and I will definitely return again very soon.

The food and service is absolutely phenomenal as well as the cozy atmosphere, which is traditional Scottish with a modern feel. So good we went two nights in a row!

Lovely menu with varied choice. Starter, main & pudding were excellent, enough room for all 3 courses. For a small intimate restaurant the tables were nicely spread out. Friendly welcoming staff.

The food was absolutely fine. The atmosphere was good. But the menu was a bit disappointing. I would have like to see more Scottish classics.

Excellent food and atmosphere, only reason its a 5 and not 6 is that they never asked if I wanted another drink and it took a while to get the bill and leave. Never thought id complain at not being 'sold to'. Would go again and thoroughly recommend this place. Haggis was delicious.

Very good food. Fish cake fantastic Perfectly cooked steak. Will defernatly come again, service could of been a tad better. Waited 10min before a drink order and there was no check backs. The waitress also cleared the table in silence and didn't ask any questions about the food. But it was great.

Lovely restaurant staff very nice, although a little expensive for what you get. Two burgers and 4 beers nearly £60 but very tasty if a little over priced

The service was good and friendly, but the food was sub-standard. Two of us ordered the vegetarian hotpot, which the waitress reassured us that it was good and had a selection of root vegetables. It actually had used obviously frozen peas and corn as well as some grated carrot in a flavourless brown gravy. It looked like a sad school dinner. Given that it is August, it seemed ridiculous that some fresh vegetables hadn't been used.
