What a lovely pub with a great team looking after it. The food was okay, but we had expected much better based on other reviews stating 'Pie to Die For...'. Such a shame as just moving to the area we were looking for some local pubs to enjoy regular meals, and we will probably go back for a drink, but not sure about the food.

visited on a weekend having booked for the day time. Attentive staff and friendly but very dark and menu hard to read. Lacked little touches flowers etc . Food was lovely but the duck was quite thick so needed more cooking than usually considered for duck . Lovely choices . Fish pie needed more flavours and cheese but luke warm . Overall we would come again as lots of positives too ,

Friendly and welcoming staff. There’s a lot of choice on the menu. Portion sizes are generous and the food is good but not amazing. The lighting in the area where we sat was awful - could barely see our food. We were also near the kitchen and sadly it did not smell good - very fishy, almost acetone.

Food is absolutely lovely! We really enjoyed the food. It took a long time to get it (over an hour) but it was worth the wait. The only thing we’d complain about was the bottom of the smelly dog that stayed by our table...we did ask for him to be moved and he was moved but kept coming back!

First time for a Sunday roast and we were not disappointed. Lovely tender lamb, good selection of vegetables, nice home made roast potatoes and plenty of gravy! Fab service, very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.

A comfortable country pub to have Sunday lunch, good atmosphere and food. Set Sunday lunch was tasty but the toffe of the sticky toffee puding set hard when it cooled from its moltern seving temprture.

Beef was excellent but veg etc was a bit overdone. Service was good and staff pleasant and attentive. Not keen on dogs being in the dining area.

Warm welcome and nice atmosphere. Vegetarian option for Sunday lunch was limited to one main dish and portions were on the small size for both main course & desserts.

We were staying locally and chose to eat here on the last day of our vacation. We booked for 6.45. The landlord and staff were very friendly. We were surprised, given the time, that 5 things were already off the menu, plus a 6th (soup!) when we actually ordered. There was only one other couple eating. I ordered scallops to start. I like scallops. I know how they look, smell and taste. I cook them regularly. I had never seen scallops like these! Grey, shiny and tasting revolting with a soft squidgy texture. I ate half of one and the plate was cleared away as it arrived . Nobody asked if it was ok and having teenagers I know they hate parents making a 'scene'. The other starters were ok but did not live up to the ambitious menu. Mains were better but not great. Husband's steak was quite fatty and gristly. My fish was overcooked but tasted ok. We didn't have desserts as we were feeling quite deflated. I know we should have complained and we would have, had an opportunity arisen. We may just have been unlucky but I definitely would not eat scallops there again!

Wide choice of quality food, some portions were small though. A choice of small or large Fish & Chips was offered so large was ordered but disappointed with amount served up considering the price £11. Good portion of Faggots and Meat Pie. Overall good experience.

Lovely small classic British pub in quiet surroundings. Food was great, it wasn't cheap however for the standard it was priced correctly. They had a pub dog which is always a winner in my book! Staff were friendly and polite and prompt with their service. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

The service was excellent (friendly and hrlpful) and very quick. The food was very good and correct portions. The pub's location is also great for parking and being in the countryside, but close to Upton.
