This was my third visit - first time on a work do, other times with family. Lovely setting, excellent pies (I really should try the other menu but the pies are so good). Really friendly, attentive servers sorted drinks, took our order with very little delay (although they have an app if you prefer), checked in to say food was on its way etc. Food was delicious - shortcrust proper pies with tender good quality meat, crispy baked chips and seasonal veg cooked perfectly. Everything piping hot. Dessert menu seemed a little heavy after such a big main, but we went ahead and the portions were just right. Sea Fury and Doombar on draft (we're Cornish so it matters). A really great visit. Staff all seem to get on well, including hearing manager giving praise to waiting staff, which made for a pleasant atmosphere too. Would definitely recommend.

80% empty yet the smallest table was reserved for our party of 4. 20 minute wait to order drinks which took 10 minutes to deliver. 65 minute wait for food which was delivered incorrectly and the gm plus two female staff argued around our table what went wrong and by whom. Turned out the gm wrote the orders down wrong, the kitchen mixed the orders up and the gm gave wrong details to us. One meal was right. Two were wrong but we accepted to keep them and sort them out ourselves due to the extensive delay already. One meal was completely wrong and after 30 minutes and three of us finished it was still not delivered. The gm went absent and was finally located hiding in the car park with as member of the kitchen staff having a 'smoke'. We left with only three of us being served. The bill was waived by the gm and he asked us to let him know when we wanted to return - but didn't bother or didn't want to take our name, phone number or any details. He just stood in the kitchen doorway with a chef calling out for us to return, main s will be on the house etc. We will never return

A lovely late lunch. I had one of their famous pies. The steak and mushroom with puff pastry. Absolutely delicious and my husband went for the fish special. Again he loved it. The lemon meringue pie dessert was ok but a bit gelatinous and not very lemony. The passion fruit martini cocktail was so good I had 3! All staff seemed to really care about service and were very polite and attentive. A great place to dine. Also loved the garden and it’s little pods/sheds. I can see why this place is so popular. I certainly hope to go back.

We had a fabulous time with Mum for her Birthday treat. We sat in one of the pods and laughed & joked and no one could hear us it was brilliant. Food was good & service was attentive but not too pushy. Had the best time with my mum & my sister can’t wait to go back 👍💕

Unfortunately due to a staff member down the service was below par. We waited one hour 15 mins to receive our meal. We were not asked if we wanted more drinks. Apologies were given and the offer of a dessert on the house which we did not take. Would rather have good service. They could have taken another £30 in drinks and food had things been better organised. However the venue was not busy so we don’t understand the bigger problems. Perhaps we should give another chance!

Food was delicious. Ordered using the app and drinks & food arrived quickly. Ordered again for dessert & drinks. Drinks came but dessert missed. Our buzzer for service in pod didn’t work so I rang pub. Manager sorted issue promptly and offered a refund which we declined as issue had been quickly resolved. In current climate they need our support. We booked a pied away. Glad we did as there were a few showers of rain and chilly. Seats in 305 were not very comfortable if there for longer than an hour. Temperature check & alchol gel on arrival then shown to our pied away. Live band The Baldwin Brothers were playing and didn’t disappoint with their 2hr set.

Good points Cheerful staff Well managed Covid protocol and process Food looked fresh and was hot. Area for improvement Portion size , I had chicken pie snd it had hardly any meat, my husband steak pie was nicely full so I’m guessing this is not your standard

Seating was a bit wobbly and set on a slope making it very awkward to balance and stop drinks sliding off table, otherwise most enjoyable!

We were really grateful to get booked in at short notice on the first day of opening. We all had pies and I would rate mine as one of the best pies I've ever eaten.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had been to the Farmers Boy a number of years ago and the pies were delicious, along with the accompanying chips and vegetables. However the pies yesterday, were nowhere near the standard of the previous pies in taste and quality of meat, especially for the price. I still enjoyed it, but wouldn't make the trip just to eat there.
