The Fig Tree is a picturesque restaurant set in a Victorian beach shelter, right on the seafront of Penarth. There really is no better place in Cardiff to catch some views of the Bristol Channel. Take a seat in the restaurant, on the veranda or up on the roof terrace as you enjoy fine British cuisine. If you’re stopping by for lunch then you’ve a choice of Glamorgan sausages, fresh fish of the day or the famous Fig Tree burger, whilst the evening menu includes slow cooked shoulder of Welsh lamb, moules provencal and Carmarthenshire belly of pork. The Fig Tree is set back off The Esplanade, just down from the Penarth pier pavilion and is simply a must. Reserve a table now.
So nice to arrive to find a large table set for two waiting for us. Small touch bet the tone for a lovely meal. Staff were attentive but relaxed. Food was exceptional, (scallops, lamb and poached pear) in presentation, taste, freshness and tamping hot. The atmosphere in the restaurant was so pleasant- from romantic to a family with a toddler (exceptionally well behaved and I am sure appreciating the homely atmosphere). The only comment we could think of - bigger napkins, everything else just right. Will return.
Excellent service, range of choice, advice and food. Would certainly visit again. Lovely meal the only thing they couldn’t organise was the sunshine. Cannot praise highly enough. Quiet only because of the international
Lovely restaurant. The service was great, the Sunday lunch options were just right. The beef lunch was spot on. Great location, great service and great food.
