The Gate has been serving vegetarian and vegan cuisine to hungry Londoners for 30 years and they’ve now taken their plant-based knowhow to St John's Wood. Opening a fourth restaurant on Allitsen Road, The Gate offers a menu of globally-inspired veggie dishes ranging from Mexican tortillas and truffled mushroom risotto cake to Thai green curry and the must-try miso-glazed aubergine. Regardless of what you order, the intense flavours are rich, fresh and creative. Even hardened carnivores will be impressed by The Gate’s all-round appeal, especially when it comes to the veggie weekend brunch that’s already a success with the St John’s Wood locals. For wine lovers, the drinks list includes a host of competitively priced biodynamic and organic bottles to accompany the food. As for the restaurant's atmosphere, the dining room blends sharp, minimalist design with lots of light and a bustling, open feel. Book at table today!

excellent and varied menu from which to choose a very good evening
Delicious interesting food beautifully served by helpful staff in a pleasant environment
Food looked incredible & was so delicious too. Service sadly was not on the same par and let's this restaurant down. We went on a Monday night, so it was approx 50% full. There were three waiting staff, one of whom remained by the till. None appeared to be busy. After being provided with menus we had to ask to call the waitresses attention place our food order. After our plates had been cleared at the end of the meal we were once again left alone, with no one checking if we needed anything. We had to ask again for the bill, which took a long time to come. Then it was wrong and we found we had been overcharged. I queried it and the bill was then scrutinised. Eventually the waiter said I see you have been charged for a carafe of wine (£19.50), and there isn't one on your table. No apology though. He went away to replace the bill which incurred yet more waiting time. This could be such a lovely neighbourhood restaurant with delicious food. They just need to train their front of house team to provide courteous attentive seevice in order not to let the side down.
