Further Information

There is a trend in London towards restaurants that over-complicate their food. Pan-fried this and dry-aged that, adjectives all over the menu and food served on boards rather than plates. The Grill at 424 is not one of these restaurants. Its name refers to its location and its specialities: it's at 424 Finchley Road, and it recommends something from the grill. And why not? In this part of Golders Green, there are few that can challenge The Grill at 424 for its steaks, whether they be British beef in the form of sirloin, fillet and rib, fish, such as tuna and sea bass, or vegetarian options like halloumi.

Visiting The Grill at 424 on Golders Green’s Finchley Road is a lesson in grilling, so let us talk you through the options. Begin your meal with the grilled merguez, a spicy North African lamb sausage accompanied by a coriander and cumin yoghurt. Follow this with either a steak – covered in peppercorn sauce, bearnaise sauce or as God intended, au natur, or something more exotic, like a calf’s liver with onions and sage. The grill can’t offer anything for dessert, but we’re confident that you’ll be too full by then anyway. Make sure you bring your biggest appetite when you book a table at The Grill on 424.

We went to The Grill on Saturday 6 August 2016. It is a smallish intimate place run by a family team. It was packed out with not a table spare. Whenever we go it is always full, whatever day of the week - it has achieved a marvellous reputation because the standard of the food is amazing. Beautifully presented tasty food served piping hot - just wonderful. My favourite starter is a generous portion of crispy duck - so tasty and succulent. I love the fish dishes and enjoy the huge fish an chips served as a special on one day in the week. The steaks are cooed to perfection. The staff are very attentive and only want to please. This is an award winning restaurant well worth a visit.

The experience at the Grill at 424 was amazing! The food was very very good and tasty, you can tell that they are passionate and using the best products possible. From the start to the finish, all the staff was taking care of us. The atmosphere is great as there are not too many tables or music too loud so you can enjoy a beautiful moment. I hope we will go back there soon in the future!

Excellent cooking! We always enjoy our visits to The Grill at 424. A pity that, on this occasion, we were the only patrons there for the first part of the meal: they deserved better.

Fantastic food and service. Friendly and attentive staff and we're going back. Superb setting, atmosphere, choice of food and wine. One of the best desserts I've ever eaten, just googled places to eat in the area and this came up - so glad we tried it.

The restaurant is very pretty, the staff are delightful and the food is sublime. The Cray fish Marie Rose is their take on a prawn cocktail - yummy; our pan fried calves liver was like butter. Have been before and will go again.

Monday evening. Very wet weather. Not a great evening for eating out. Nice warm welcome from staff, coats taken. Restaurant not busy, but has a pleasant feel about it. Menus presented promptly by very sweet waitress. Decent food, fairly quickly served. Nothing absolutely outstanding, but overall very good at a reasonable price for London. Will go again when next in the area.

The service was exemplary - and quite charming. The level of care for the comfort of my disabled mother was terrific. That was combined with beautifully cooked and presented dishes. A great find to which we shall certainly return with friends.

Dishes generally well-cooked, with quality ingredients. Courgette 'flowers' a misnomer; one only and disappointingly bland, with an unrefined sauce. Overall, The Grill is a comfortable and reasonably good restaurant, with a menu, which, though large, was generally conventional and safe, and lacked excitement.

Friendly, helpful service. A relaxed meal. The waiter got into a conversation with my friend about the best ways of cooking asparagus and gave him lots of tips! Do order the chicken liver parfait!
