About The Hinds Head

Dear diners, please be aware that during busy periods there is a maximum dining time of two hours per reservation. Some reservations may also require a deposit, for which you will be contacted directly by the restaurant.Few things are more comforting than the classic British pub, especially those as rustic and heartwarming as The Hinds Head in the heart of Lancashire. Many things make this place great – the homely decor and genuine warm welcome being just the beginning – but once a well-stocked bar and a menu made up of exceptional British cuisine are thrown in too, well, the pedigree of The Hinds Head is clear to see. Set on Preston Road of Charnock Richard in Chorley, this pub and restaurant is stooped in history and makes for a satisfying and refreshing visit every single time.

The Hinds Head is one of those rustic British pub and restaurants that you never want to leave because everything you need for the most relaxing of times is right there. On Preston Road in Chorley, here is what pubbing is all about: a proper bar, a proper ambience and a kitchen preparing some truly marvellous plates of food. Charnock Richard is lucky to have The Hinds Head and both foodies and casual diners can expect to be impressed by the menu. For lunch, dinner or, of course, a fine British Sunday roast, everything is prepared fresh to order and is therefore of the highest quality you’ll find.

From Monday to Saturday between midday and 3pm, The Hinds Head lunch menu consists of more homey classics than you can shake a stick at. Think scampi in a basket, steak and onion baguette, pies, jacket potatoes and some wonderful daily soups. From The Hind’s Head main menu, start with creamy garlic mushrooms, a duo stack of black and white pudding, or the chef’s special fishcakes. For your mains you can keep it classic with British favourites like sausage and mash or beer battered fish and hand cut chips, or refine things a little with braised lamb shank or a divine fillet steak stroganoff. There are also plenty of seafood and vegetarian dishes but, whatever your choice, be assured that your food has been prepared using only the freshest produce from local suppliers around Chorley and Lancashire. Reserve a table and head to Charnock Richard now!

Our 1st visit. Service was very good, no rushing with just the right amount of “attentiveness”. Food was delicious hot and our little “quirks”catered for. A refreshingly welcome experience.

This is a very special place and the food is absolutely amazing - the food would not be out of place in some of the best restaurants in London! The owners are so enthusiastic and welcoming as are all the staff. They have a wide range of gins and other drinks offerings that are scrumptious. The restaurant is really lovely with all personal touches that make it so nice spend time in. We viewed but did not stay in the guest rooms which have recently been created and they are fab with John Lewis furniture. The beer garden at the back is stunning too and overlooks beautiful countryside. Well done Kev and Adam you are doing a fantastic job!

My wife and I called in on the 19th March for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed as the food was excellent. The waiting on staff were very attentive but you only need asking once if the meal you are eating is ok -- everyone of them must have come up and asked the same question!! -- just needs fine tuning. We visited again on Friday 24th March in a party of 4. Food again was excellent my only complaint they had run out of gammon which is what I had gone for after seeing it on the menu -- but I was not disappointed with the pork loin which I chose in its place. We will certainly be back again in the near future.

We had a great meal out at the Hinds Head for our sons 20th birthday. We were accompanied by our two other children aged 10 and 14 and there was something on the menu to suit everyone. Particularly enjoyed the home made fish and chips, batter was really crispy and the chips cooked to perfection - no oven chips here! The ambience in the restaurant was lovely too, I have been during the daytime but at night it is a different experience with soft lighting, candles and fairy lights. Staff are really friendly and efficient. Overall a great experience, we will definately return!

Lovely little pub. Very nice and cosy inside and your made to feel welcome. Food is fantastic. Husband ordered the ribeye and he said it was the best steak he had tasted. I had the steak & red wine pie and it tasted divine. The pie was crammed with so much meat which is very unusual as most restaurants these day serve more gravy than meat. All the food was piping hot and all set out into individual serving dishes. Staff were lovely and very informative. Looking forward to visiting again and i would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Amazing! Beautiful decor, attentive staff/management and wonderful food/drink. Really nice, relaxing atmosphere. Love it! I've been 4 times recently, with my partner in the evening, with a friend at lunchtime, with a friend and my 3yr old for tea and with my partner and parents for the Sunday roast. Each occasion has been brilliant and the price is really reasonable for the standard of food that is served.

We have dined there numerous times but we also took friends who hadn't been since the new owners took over. They were really impressed with the decor, the relaxed feel of the place and the quality of the meals. Between us we had:- 2 starters, 4 mains, 2 sweets, 1 coffee and our bar drinks. Total bill £97. Would recommend. Don't be put off by the outside.
