London is home to plenty of top notch pubs: indeed, it is one of the great watering holes of the world, and many tourists report that the pubs were their favourite aspect of the city. But old school Cockney dives don’t cut it anymore – people’s expectations are higher and the beer-and-pork scratchings combo no longer suffices. Any new pub must offer something special to make a mark. Lucky, then, that The Lion on Houndsditch 31 in Whitechapel have a menu like they do. They boast small plates of wings, sausages, squid and onion rings, sharing platters of nachos, mezze and charcuterie and cheese as well as hand-stretched pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, steak frites, fish and chips, truffle mac and cheese and more. Add a fully-stocked bar, an extensive wine list, a cocktail selection and all the trappings of a proper British pub and you’re well set for a night out in London at The Lion.
Remember, The Lion is available for private hire.
Nice pub, good ambience and not too noisy. The food and service was outstanding! Do make reservationsas as lunchtimes can be crowded. Thank you very much. I will definitely go again.
Good service, good food and drink what's not to like? Nice friendly, modern Pub. If more pubs were like this less would be closing down.
This is a Lovely venue with great staff and really good food. Worth a try. Always a lovely atmosphere. Proper traditional pub that's good for food or drinks.
Great service and easy to book. Been here a few times now the latest for a staff party of about 20 people who were well looked after even though it was a busy Thursday night
We were well treated by the attentive bar staff and we shared some good food and drink. I would recommend The Lion to anyone wanting a good night out.
First time at the Lion. Great little spot. Yummy food and great service. Super cosy for a catch up night. Will defently go back when I am in town.
Food was good as well as the service , Slight problem was that they didn't seem to know of the booking but not an issues as being a Monday there was plenty of space. Overall an enjoyable experience and will definitely go again
Great little pub with a bit more space than others in the area, decent beer and a decent menu. Staff are friendly and accommodating but I would recommend booking on a Thursday or Friday!
Good food, a good selection of real ales and nice decor. Small pub, feels less like a London establishment and more like something rural. Most excellent.
Really buzzy pub in heart of the City - felt more like a club. Good food and choice; very efficient staff who were friendly and constantly clearing the bar and tables.
