A good meal was had by all guests, service was attentive without being "pushy" in short up to their usual standards, we travel from Cheshire to meet friends & The Malt Shovel never disappoints.

A regular haunt for myself and my husband when meeting friends who are travelling on the M40, and is always reliably pleasant. Decent menu with good options and reasonably price. Latest visit was on a Monday lunchtime after booking online for the first time and there was a nice buzz for a Monday.

We were a really late booking as we’d been travelling. Delighted to find that the Sunday roast dinner was still being served. Wr both opted for beef, which was delightful. Everything was really tasty, (I would prefer to pout my own gravy, whist plentiful it was really rich) We found the food a little ‘tepid’ the potatoes were not crispy but a little hard. It’s just unfortunate I think it was the timing of our visit. Which we accept. Service was good. Beer was excellent We will definitely come back for a meal.

I book a table for my staff for a car show every year in June @ The Malt Shovel & I have never had a problem with the service, staff & the food. I found this establishment back in 2018 & I am so glad I did

The food overall was good, but one of party found a 3 inch long gray hair in there meal which was pointed out to the girl serving us. her responce was I don't have gray hair and took the plates away. so with that in mind, we will not be eating again here.

We were seated in a small alcove area which was lovely but full of flies. Food was okay but took an extremely long time to arrive and they weren’t particularly busy

A visit to British Motor Museum with old mate, required a good lunch - and the Malt Shovel did the business. Top notch food, good beer selection (at right temperature, and condition ), good friendly service too. Highly recommended, I wish I lived closer than 80 miles away!
