The staff are lovely and helpful. The food is delicious. Lovely looking pub too. The only disappointment was we have visited twice this month and both times there was certain meal choices unavailable on the menu and this time some beer was unavailable too. I could understand it if we were eating late but both times we had booked for 7pm.

The food was excellent, staff extremely friendly and polite. We will be back soon 🙂

We were here for a 70th birthday celebration and the service was outstanding. Not only efficient but friendly and great with our 4 year old grandaughter. All of the food was wonderful and my son in law highly recommends the burgers! 🍔 We will be back without a doubt.

As always, this gem of a place was warm, friendly, and very accommodating. Having booked a table for 2, there was no difficulty in increasing our numbers to 4. Being my wife's birthday, the staff happily hid her surprise Birthday Cake that I'd delivered earlier in the day. Then, after we'd finished our main courses, the waiter and waitress brought out the cake with a chorus of 'Happy Birthday'. It didn't matter to them that we subsequently couldn't manage a dessert. Our meals were delicious. Fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. As you can probably tell, I highly recommend a visit to this wonderful hostelry.

This was a lovely place to spend an afternoon with family, food was great and the staff were really friendly. Nice choice on the menu, better than the usual pub food. Would definitely recommend and go back again.

Some of the best customer service I’ve encountered in a long time. Nothing was too much trouble especially for the more elderly amongst us. Food was extremely good as well.

Second visit to this establishment for a gathering of friends and were treated to excellent food served by friendly staff. All six of us were well pleased and will be back again.

Disappointing 40 minute wait for food. Average food, poor service. Waitress was in training but had no idea how to interact with customers, brought our drinks to the table. (Leaving her finger prints on the top trim of the glass) While experience - very disappointing!

Amazing place, we were recommend a while ago but have only just got round to a visit. We both had the trio of roast meats, very generous, filled us up but we still had a dessert which again was really good. Service friendly and efficient.

First time here. We arrived at 6pm to find the roast (various meats) had sold out! That’s terrible I hear you cry! But hang on, it’s a testament to the pub’s reputation, they had been so busy that they sold out! So we chose from the main menu. I can’t recommend this place enough, the food was AMAZING. The staff couldn’t do enough for you. We felt like we were very welcome. 5* 10/10

Booking was easy and able to change booking requirements and add people the night before. Beautiful place, quirky, stained glass windows, comfy nooks and a cockatoo! Friendly staff, delicious food. Only downside for us: Was listed as disabled friendly but it really wasn’t. Step to entrance and no disabled toilet. Manager willing to lend a hand but that is not the same as allowing independent access. Fabulous visit but be aware if you are a wheelchair user.

I took a very close friend for a different evening out. As soon as we arrived we were taken to our table. There was no pressure in ordering, drinks came straight away. The service and attention to detail was first class. The food was delicious, and we hope that our compliments did get back to the Chef. A very enjoyable evening. Thank you and see you again soon.

The service was good and the staff were very friendly. We all enjoyed the food and it was presented well and we didn’t have to wait too long for it too come to the table. Unfortunately we did not know about the event that was on as there was a live band in the car park. If we had known about it we would have booked a different night. We had gone to meet friends that we hadn’t seen in a long time and catch up! The music was so loud that we could not talk to each other! We literally ate and left and went to another local pub.

Lovely atmosphere and great food. Very friendly and helpful staff. The pub is in a great location for us to meet family as it is easy to find from the motorway. Very reasonable prices for the quality of food.

Our second visit to the Malt Shovel, and just as good an experience as the first. We’ve visited with two different groups of friends and both have been pleased with the choice of venue. The staff are friendly and the good is good, what more could you ask for.😃
