This was our fourth visit in a matter of weeks and we were not disappointed. Good service and lovely food which was well presented. We will no doubt be back before too long.
Good service, good good and a pleasant old pub. We were a party of four and enjoyed a relaxing Friday evening which set us up for the weekend.
This is my third visit to The Malt Shovel with my family. The quality of the food and ther service is amazing shame it's so far away from me or I'd be there more often.
Lovely atmosphere & great food. Log fires made it warm and cosy. Staff were friendly & service was good. Very large portions so struggled to manage 3 courses.
Went in for Sunday lunch. The food was lovely and the staff were great with us and really helpful- which is always a bonus when you have a small child.
Service was quite slow, and they didn't tell me until they brought my main course out that one of the sides detailed on the menu wasn't available, if I had known at the point of ordering I may have ordered something else. We have been previously and had better.
Food and service were excellent.Had the ribs for starter, the meat fell off the bone.marinated lamb on skewers was perfect albeit the polenta was a bit bland.Overall great experience.Definitely go again
Thought the place looked tired and almost turned around and walked out but luckily stayed. Food was good and so was the service. Reasonably priced.
Probably the best meal I've had in my life. Everything was excellent from the food to the service. Can't wait to go back again for our next meal.
A delightful and delicious dining experience with a tempting and varied menu of dishes temptingly and promptly served. The staff were unobtrusive yet attentive. Prices were fair and we felt offered good value.
An excellent Sunday lunch in a relaxing place, tasty starters, delicious main course, we were too full to manage a pudding but enjoyed a good coffee.
Great experience all round! Fantastic menu and food. The service could not have been more accommodating. The surroundings were perfect. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Love The Malt Shovel & it's one of my favorite places to eat, the food is fab & staff are friendly & so easy to book online.
Poor table seating, plus location of our table in corner outside kitchen, whilst there were plenty of other tables available especially as we had taken the time to book (other guests did not). Food very average, not sure if we would go again.
We had lunch at the Malt Shovel today and could not fault it. Excellent meal, very good service and a lovely location. Our first visit and we will definitely be returning for another meal!
Really lovely atmosphere inside, beautiful food - the malt shovel smokie is superb as a starter. Staff very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend, will be taking family there for dinner in the future.
It was Our second visit to the malt shovel and I don't think it will be long before we're there again the evening was most enjoyable great atmosphere brilliant staff and the food amazing thank you
Nice old pub with beamed ceilings lovely friendly staff and good food, only downside presentation could have been better. Would visit again on an evening.
Ordered 3 pork Sunday dinners didn't come with any veg or Yorkshire puddings had to ask the waiter for some Roast beef dinner was nice but was all over priced the waiter gave me a over priced bill making the dinners £18 Each I asked him about it he then gave me a new bill it was still wrong making are dinners £15.00 each we just paid and left food ok abit expensive .
Monday evening was our visit... so not many other diners but we had a warm and friendly welcome and enjoyed good food served in a friendly and efficient manner. Definitely will be back and recommend the Malt Shovel to anyone.
Very good atmosphere, though the music was a bit loud for an easy conversation. The confit of duck (one of the days specials) was, to my mind, slightly overcooked but was generous in amount. Everyone was very helpful and attentive.
The service as always was spectacularly good and while we had a (very small) problem with one of the dishes it was immediately rectified and the outcome was lovely.
Great food, in an amazing location with good service! What more could you want ? I've been here many times and will continue to return !
Fantastic place, amazing food and great service just wish we lived closer so we could come again! We went for my husbands birthday and they even wished him happy birthday too. Thanks for a great night
Lovely cosy pub with friendly, efficient service. Delicious meal of slow cooked lamb and apricots at a reasonable price in a convivial atmosphere. Would definitely go back!
Food delicious and fish very fresh. Lovely ambience in the pub and staff very attentive. All in all a very good night. We would definitely go back.
Staff are friendly and professional. Good choice of food on dinner menu plus specials. A little more detail of make-up of the main courses would be helpful. Quality of food very good. Good wine list. Pleasant, unfussy dining room. A relaxed evening.
Food and service very good. Adapted very well to meet requirements of friend who has a wheat and dairy allergy. We would certainly visit again.
This is a outstanding place to visit the food is to die for and the service is top notch the prices are also very good as the 2 meals we had came to half the price of what we would have paid where we live
great food and first class service in a nice warm atmosphere. My 5th time there and never been disappointed yet. And a Great pint of Theakstons toboot.
The service was efficient and friendly. The food was enjoyable and there was an extensive menu to chose from, as well as a 'specials' board.
Our second visit within a short time. Another excellent meal in pleasant surroundings. Makes a change to actually have room to move without colliding with people sat near you. One of our party has a disability which, with all the space, proved not to be an issue. We noticed that all the tables were well spaced - makes a pleasant change!
This quirky characterful pub/restaurant is always a haven of excellence with a menu to suit all tastes. The efficient and friendly staff make for a perfect meal out.
Warm and welcoming. Children were treated respectfully. Lovely attmosphere. Tables were placed creatively, meaning that it catered for intimate dining as well as larger parties, and both worked well together. The food was superb and there was a varied selection of both starters and main course. The portions were generous - verging on over-generous , and were beautifully cooked. The youngest members of our party declared the sticky toffee pudding to be the best they had ever tasted - and they had tasted many! All in all a lovely experience and one that will most certainly be repeated.
This is a very nice Inn with lots of charm and excellent quality food. A place to go to celebrate a special event. We will definitely go again.
Lovely food and great atmosphere, slightly hard to find along country roads but once there the resturant speaks for it's self. Fabulous service and setting.
Lovely meal, good atmosphere and excellent service. They were more than happy to accommodate a request for a small serving. Will certainly be back before too long.
Great food, service ambiance and will definitely go back. This is the ideal country pub to go and relax and enjoy some good company and food
Excellent! We went back hoping that they still had the cajun fish dish with chips and salad. They had it up on their specials board so we were very happy to order it again. Just as delicious as last time. The pub is very quaint and cute inside. Lovely staff. One of our favorite pubs:)
Delicious food which was nicely presented and piping hot. There was plenty of choice on the menu plus the specials board. Lovely old pub with plenty of parking.
