I loved the meal as a whole. The dessert and the main meal were absolutely gorgeous. I wasn't overly fussed on the soup as my starter but I would just try something different next time. I would recommend the Sunday lunch to anyone it's fab.
Had a fantastic early mothers day meal with excellent service and super company the staff couldn't do enough for you despite bein very busy can't wait to go back
Great service, lovely and attentive staff. Sharing platter was lovely but small portions made into a platter using excessive quantities of cous cous. Very tasty though! Risotto for main course, bland, over cooked. Wouldn't return there for food as it's more expensive than other similar places, yet the food is lacking. Can not fault the great service though
Very disappointed with new menu, starters pate came with 50% sweet jam on top, had to ask for plates to scrap off jam far too sweet Main course chicken , bland, fondant potatoe hard Have been regulars at Monro and never had such a disappointing meal, waitress not interested when we complained, will not be back
Excellent. The food was amazing. We had invited guest and they were extremely impressed with our choice.Brilliant service, friendly and attentive staff. Can't wait for our next visit.
We visited The Monroe yesterday The food was very good and the staff were very attentive We would definitely recommend The Munroe to friends and family
Great service and amazing food. It was my first time dining here and I will definitely be back in the near future. Absolutely first class.
The whole experience was excellent. The food was top notch. The lamb and the duck were fabulous. The service was efficient but friendly and unfussy. Thank you to all the staff. See you soon.
The food and service are always great. Lots of fish dishes to choose from. Could do with more variety on the non fish dishes. Would definitely visit again.
Good quality , well priced food. Service was high standard and very attentive. The Munro is a warm and welcoming environment which is to be recommended.
Had a very nice night, the staff are great and really friendly. we all enjoyed our meals, particularly the black pudding scotch egg starter!
Excellent food and service really enjoyed our meal and the prosecco cocktails, this was our second visit ad we will definitely be back again soon 😀
the place was and staff were nice but was very disappointed in the food. I had Macaroni cheese and it was dry with no flavour whatsoever. Would no go again
great place - wonderful log fire on a freezing night, with a warm welcome from staff and an excellent dinner. We had lamb and duck, both full of taste and cooked perfectly. Lemon posset for desert, light and delicious. We recommend the Rioja. Good to be able to choose wine by glass, carafe (500 mls) or whole bottle, rather than having to have a full bottle.
One off the best meals and service , we've have in a long time . Well done all at the Monro. Looking forward to the next time.
An excellent Sunday Lunch at The Monro. Superb chicken liver pâté, great roast beef and an excellent sticky toffee pudding. Husband had the cod, which looked fab and he really enjoyed. The service was good too!
Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and an excellent sunday roast with plenty of veg. The Munro is a great gastro pub in the heart of Liverpool
We did enjoy our visit, the staff are always friendly and the food is of a high standard with plenty of choice for veggies. On this occasion the roast wasn't as good as we have enjoyed previously, but I would still highly recommend this pub as a good "foodie" destination
Amazing food, service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. We were even offered something outside of the menu on offer when we asked the waiter.
First visit to the Monroe. Great surroundings and food was of a high quality. Service was efficient. Friendly and warm welcome. Will be visiting again soon.
As always the Monro was lovely and I would recommend the experience to friends and family. The Staff provided an excellent service with a smile which I consider to be very important.
Excellent venue, lovely food, great service and friendly, helpful staff. Will go again. It is only a short walk to Liverpool One and all its attractions
A quick weekend visit to Liverpool to take my daughter to see Carmina Burana at the philharmonic hall. The Monro has a warm relaxing, atmosphere, attentive service and food to savour. We both left the restaurant happy and satisfied with our choice of eating houses. We would both recomend without question.
Beautiful setting, excellent service and good value. More gravy was needed really as ran out quite quickly. Carrots and green beans pretty al dente although flavour was good- I appreciate this is a personal taste thing. Sticky toffee pudding was incredible. Overall, I would recommend it and will come back.
Great staff and food, will be returning soon however this wasn't out first visit to the restaurant it's our usual spot when in Liverpool! Excellent!!!
Fantastic deal on a Monday!!! 2 courses and bottle of wine each for £20! The food is beautiful and the decor is so nice with the log fire!
Great Pub with very good food and service . Monday night two courses with a bottle of wine for £20.00 . Sunday lunch is also excellent .
Lovely food. Good service. The chicken liver pate starter should have been at room temperature, rather than fridge-cold. Otherwise no complaints. Will definitely go again!
Staff not very attentive had to ask for tap water 3 times . Ordered wine was just poured not offered to taste and bill was wrong undercharged by 80 pounds when we informed staff they didn't thank us just issued new bill.
Despite young, keen staff, the Monro has lost its sparkle. Nothing special anymore. Expensive ordinary food and no atmosphere. No longer my husband's favourite restaurant.
First I would like to say we have been to The Munro on many occasions. Unfortunately on this occasions it wasn't up to its usual standard. My starter wasn't what I expected my husbands was fine. Both main meals were great we were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu we said Yes but it never turned up. We left very disappointed. The restaurant wasn't even really busy as it usually is. I doubt if we will be returning anytime soon.
Fantastic service, the staff were brilliant. The food was great and we really wanted a sweet but had to rush off for a show. Overall a great atmosphere and a fabulous evening, we will be booking a further visit soon. Val
Very enjoyable as usual, well looked after,,just feel that the menu is a little limited.its a great relaxing place to eat ,just one of our party of 4 ,only had one choice of meal because of their personal preference.
Lovely evening and good food. Very pleasant. One of the nicest places to eat in the town centre. We will go back there again soon.
Saturday night table for 4 at 8pm, restaurant was about 80% full plus a few at the bar. Seated within a few minutes. The menus were in avreally small font size, struggled to read them. Food however was delicious, for starters we had curried cauliflower soup, scallops, black pudding scotch egg. Mains of fish & chips, lamb and stone bass. The fish in a very thin beer batter was tremendous. Puds were also very good, though the guideline of 15 mins for the chocolate fondant turned out to be more like 25. Some may have thought the service a little slow, but I much prefer that to being rushed. Well worth a visit.
An unassuming place with no bells and whistles. Really wonderful staff, ambience and food. Greeted by the manager on arrival who sat us down and discussed the menu and also wine list (he recommended a great Albarino). Food was gastropub with a rocket up it's backside. Scotch egg was to die for and the fillet of beef was melt in your mouth good- could have cut it with a spoon. Booked again for next week. Can't wait.
Lovely place, log fire burning , great atmosphere & the sirloin steak is to die for! Couldn't fault anything. Book table as gets busy even on week nights
Nothing special, soup bland and chips hard and undercooked. We were looking forward to this visit having read rave reviews but we were left disappointed.
Had steak medium. Came it was still mooing. It was raw Lamb dish was very fatty and not worth the price as portion was tiny.
Fabulous and interesting food. The menu was so good it was hard to choose! Great service. Always a warm welcome. Roaring log fire-very welcome on a cold dismal day!
Lovely food and great atmosphere. Steak was only lukewarm and needs to be warmer, but I wouldn't let that stop me going again. I can highly recommend this Gastropod.
We visited the Monro with friends on a Saturday night in May 2016. The place was very busy but the atmosphere was welcoming and service at the bar was quick and friendly. At our booking time we moved into the restaurant and were greeted by the friendly serving staff. we found the menu and food to be good restaurant standard and the wine list is good but perhaps a little overpriced. We ordered, between us, 3 starters, 4 mains, 2 deserts, 1 bottle of wine, and 2 G&Ts and the very reasonable final bill was about £150. It is rare to find a treat like this in a city centre location and the relaxed dining was more reminiscent of a country pub. All our party enjoyed the experience and we look forward to re-visiting. Be sure to book especially at weekends. Central Station is only about 10 minutes easy walk.
Our party of 6 adults and a baby were warmly welcomed, and seated where the baby's buggy would not cause any obstruction. One of our party is coeliac, and was supplied with an individual menu offering plenty of choice. None of us had starters, as it was early lunchtime- 12.30, but all our mains were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The desserts were wonderful, the service impeccable, the atmosphere congenial and all very reasonably priced. Would recommend highly.
Satisfactory meal. Staff helpful throughout. Expected it to be very busy pre - Christmas but. Remained comfortable. Nice round table for our group of 6.
We had the 3 course Sunday dinner - my partner's lamb was way too fatty but overall the food was great - proper veg, no frozen aunt betties here! Asked for extra gravy - no problem. The sticky toffee pud was amazing and loads of toffee sauce! Will definitely return
My first visit was very disappointing. I ordered the stone bass, portion was very small, the potatoes were warm so I sent meal back. By the time they brought it back (I had to remind them !) my husband had finished his meal at a leisurely pace. So overall it wasn't a good experience for me, they did apologise and did not charge us for a glass of wine & small beer. Would not return.
Food was fantastic, great service, lovely setting, no loud intrusive music, so easy to relax over good good and have a conversation.....would highly recommend this place. Good wine list. Will definitely be back. Good value for money.
Great service and food from starter to dessert. Can't wait to go back. Would recommend the chicken liver pate, roast and and lemon posset. Delicious.
Ordered off menu. Great tasty dishes but attention to detail was lacking for some. Scallops starter had two perfectly cooked scallops, but came with too much pea puree and too little black pudding. While for lamb main the menu listed feta wrapped in potato, however the dish came with one while the rest of the feta came unwrapped. On a plus note desserts were divine - as standard for the Monro. We haven't visited the Monro for a while, although not disappointed we weren't overwhelmed, just need to finesse petitioning.
Really excellent food. We were welcomed by the manager who sat us and discussed the menu and the new dishes. Food was great. The recommended scotch egg was to die for. Best thing about this place? The service. Hands down best service in Liverpool city centre. We will be back soon!!!
