We’ve been to The Munro on many occasions now and each time the food has been amazing. This time I was part of group of 15 and the staff were very attentive, even with the size of the group.

Terrific food and friendly service. Every small plate is well balanced with contrasting flavours to a high standard and actually not that small so good value too. A Liverpool must

The food was ok but nothing out of the ordinary...the Malaysian curry had no spice at all and the rump steak was very fatty. Starters were nice though. The service was slow and not helpful when we asked if we could move to another table as we were sat next to a table of about 15 people who were very loud...not the atmosphere we were looking for on our wedding anniversary.

The starter was ok, the main, pftt the food was either rock hard or cold and took 40 minutes to come after we finished our mains. It took 30 mins just to come take our plates after we finished the starters

Been to Monro countless times always great experience. Unfortunately not as good yesterday. Chaotic to say the least waited over 25 mins for drinks we ordered at the bar! Food was good but lamb bit tough. Staff very friendly even when obviously short staffed overall. Bit disappointed as celebrating wedding anniversary and recommending so highly to guest who accompanied us and hadn't been before. Hopefully just a one off blip.

We were delighted by The Munro as everything was lovely. There was a very pleasant atmosphere in all areas with a courtyard decked out in comfortable seating and interesting plants. The service was very friendly and efficient. The menu was very inspiring so were spoilt for choice. However, we enjoyed a delicious three course meal each and look forward to returning for another.

We enjoyed our evening. The waitress was excellent, and very attentive. Food good, especially the starters. Thought the brill dish, although the fish was perfectly cooked, could have used a good sauce, rather than the slightly acidic dry taste it had. However, overall we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thankyou.

For a Thursday evening the restaurant was very quiet; the food is god value for oney and the service was O.K. especially as we had to open our own wine

On arrival at the Monro, the bar area was overshadowed by a group of drunk, loud and intimidating men, who were deliberately smashing glasses and pouring pints onto the floor. The bar staff seemed unable to cope with this. The service in the dining area was terrible - very slow, and it was difficult to attract the attention of staff. They forgot to bring the wine, and then failed to bring the glasses too. The same thing happened when we asked for a jug of tap water. A fifth main meal was brought to the table (party of four) and was also subsequently added to the bill. The desert menu was brought but we were overlooked/forgotten again. In a by now empty room. Very disappointing, and a bit like being in Fawlty Towers.

Pleasant surroundings with a relaxed atmosphere. Friendly service, in one case with a smile. I had roast lamb. Large plate of food comprising lovely al dente vegetables, good tender lamb, perfect roasties and Yorkshire pudding. The rest of my party had roast beef which they all found a bit chewy but flavoursome. On the whole a good experience and we will return.

Really good meal, beautiful starter, and the gentleman who welcomed us and the lovely girl who waited on were top notch! The wine was good value. The only slight thing which could have improved the meal was if the rump steak had been cooked a bit less. We asked for medium rare but it was nearer to well done. Not a big problem at all as it was still fine, just a constructive comment. The chips (which I never usually have) were the best I've tasted, and so was the pepper sauce. Well done The Monro!

What's happened? Have loved the monroe for years. Staff and decor still good but very disappointing meal. Had the two course early diner offer. Starter was good but the famous fish and chips was such a let down. The chips used to be large triple cooked type and delicious. This time the fish has halved in size but still quite tasty. The chips however were cold and dry and frankly inedible. I did tell the waiter who agreed they looked pale and univiting but no offer of replacement or apology. Think it'll be a while before I return there and I'm so disappointed about this

Excellent value for money, and good gastropub fare. The service was very professional, and only the lack of air conditioning stops us giving it a 6

Attractive pub, tastefully decorated. Friendly atmosphere, no loud music or many young people, so more suited for the more mature customer. Restaurant staff friendly and polite. Food and service very good, would strongly recommend.

The food was excellent however the service was appalling we had to wait 35 minutes to have our main course plates removed and therefore we didn't order a dessert or coffee and went to the bar to pay, where we had to a further 10 minutes for someone to come in order for us to pay the bill. This was on top of the monro cancelling a previous booking for us stating that their supplier had let them down. No future custom from me I'm afraid.

We booked a table for Saturday 20th May at 7pm. The meal was well cooked and presented, and the service as usual friendly and efficient. Our starters were innovative and tasty, while leaving room for the substantial mains. We rounded off with 2 "white sangria" cocktails from the 2 for £12 cocktail menu and they closed the evening perfectly. Well done the Monro, and we also liked the wide-ranging menu choices.

Our party of 6 enjoyed a very pleasant meal with excellent service. The menu was reasonably priced and had a good range of options, while the staff were attentive, friendly and quietly efficient. We particularly appreciated having the table for the whole evening, which allowed us plenty of time to talk and relax in a very comfortable setting. We hope to return soon.

The food was nice but the service was outstanding! Our waitress ( young girl with dark hair) provided outstanding service! She basically ran the place on her own had time for friendly professional chat and as she was passing our table kept topping our wine up and checking if we need anything! Would highly recommend this place!
