Well received upon entering and shown to our seats in a friendly manner. The service was excellent and the drinks arrived with only a small wait. The menu was adventurous and very reasonable price wise. The food was just superb ,cooked to perfection, and the vegetables were varied and al dente. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience and will visit again

I have been to The Old Volunteer twice now and the food is amazing, excellent value for money, the staff are lovely and the Landlady is very helpful and chats amongst guests and nothing it too much of an ask. Highly recommend this place. :-)

Very welcoming. Menu was good with something for everyone. Wine selection a little limited but overall a very nice evening. Would recommend and come back again.

Just fab great food great service great atmosphere lovely decor a must try .... It's a little out the way but well worth the effort in my book

Fantastic food great ambiance nothing is too much trouble. It's our local so we consider ourselves really lucky. If you haven't been home you will definitely be impressed.

Excellent food and servIce in a lovely pub/resteraunt. Sunday lunch menu had a good variety not just roasts.would recommend a visit even just for a drink.

Lovely place, Sunday dinner was excellent. Would have liked a slightly larger range of deserts though as there weren't many to choose from but overall lovely

Very accommodating and food was fine. Would eat there again. Good portions and plenty of choice. Also considerate to dog owners (pets not allowed in the restaurant of course).

Very good food and good service. Great value lunch set meal. The decor interior and exterior was stunning. Cant wait to try the upstairs terrace. Maybe consider an additional veggie option.

This was my second time at the Old Vol and again, could not fault it. Excellent meal and the service was great. Make sure you try the steak and ale pie - DELICIOUS!

The environment, staff and overall experience was very good. Great venue and Jo has done a wonderful job of the place. The food was also of a good quality, though sometimes lacked seasoning, nothing major. Where we sat was unfortunately adjacent to two family parties tables, so they were rather overpowering, but one cannot control the clients.

Excellent meal at the Volunteer - it never disappoints. Excellent food in relaxed, pleasant surroundings what's not to like. The lamb was amazing. Looking forward to our next visit.

We had excellent food in a lovely atmosphere. It wasn't a busy evening but once we had our main course from then on the service was slow.

Food was excellent and the two gentleman that served us were very polite and attentive to our requirements, would recommend it to everyone. Great selection of drinks too

What a great setting!! Lovely views and great interior throughout. Sat upstairs and lovely ambience. Food was spectacular and all homemade and it shows in the tastings!! Staff great, attentive but not intrusive. Lovely outdoor space too with heaters, lanterned candles and all year round green grass!! Will be back.

The service was good, the food is excellent and the location is convenient for us. Five of us used the set lunch menu and found it sufficiently varied to suit usd all.

This is our favourite place to dine for Sunday lunch. The landlady Jo is very hands on managing the staff who provide Excellent food & service. The price is a little more than some places, however the quality of food & the ambience are well worth it. We would definitely recommend a visit.
