We were ignored when we arrived, we had booked a table so eventually asked someone to show us to the table, then ordered drinks which took about 15 minutes to arrive, this was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not busy, I ordered venison sausages and after about 15 minutes I was told they had run out, very frustrating but the food was delicious.
Our meal was good as was the service. The welcome wasn’t particularly warm and we were given a table for 2 in the middle of the room by the walk thru from the bar. Constant foot traffic going past the table. We did ask if there was a table at the edge of the room although apparently not although there seemed to be a lot of tables unoccupied.
The roast dinner was very tasty and of good quality. Our waitress was very attentive and approachable it was a great afternoon spent with friends eating and drinking.
Went for Sunday Roast, which was generally nice, although thought the roast potatoes were over cooked and the yorkshire pudding was dry. The restaurant, whilst it looks nice is very noisy and the music they were playing had such a pounding base, it was giving me a headache.. not the type of music you expect in a restaurant. After a second request, they did turn music down. Not somewhere i would visit again in a hurry!
Great roast dinner, attentive staff, nice ambience. Thoroughly recommended 👌
Nice decor, welcoming and friendly staff, and food was very very good, what more can you ask for
We booked for a table of 4 originally for 3.15pm on Sunday but were running late so rang at 2pm to say we would arrive at 4 to 4.15pm as we were getting s ferry from Isle of Wight. We arrived at 4.05pm and were ignored ordered in an offhand manner by the Manager to stand by the desk. We waited over 10 minutes and not one member of staff made eye contact or welcomed us to the venue. We decided to leave as the service experience was so awful. The manager came out and said that he had a disaster as a member of staff had not turned up for a 3pm shift!! I explained that the delay in the service, how we were ignored by many members of staff after 15 minutes and the lack of eye contact and welcome was not acceptable - we walked out at 4.20pm. To add insult to injury we then got a follow up phone call from the manager explaining about lack of staff and I commended him on phoning us back and then he had the temerity of blaming us for being early - we had said 4-4.15 pm as we were coming from IOW. It beggars belief on this level of customer service. We ended up in the next door Pulcinella Italian Restaurant with amazing service food and welcome . So glad we walked out
had a lovely meal with my beautiful partner. I would recommend it very much.
We had a very friendly helpful waitress serving us, knowledgeable and efficient
The stall were professional and polite. Excellent menu and the food was first class.

Good food and friendly staff however we waited a very long time for our mains even though the restaurant was nearly empty.
First visit to the Ox and very impressed. We had booked a table for 2 on a busy Saturday night, everything went smoothly and the food was absolutely delicious. We will most certainly visit again.
The food and atmosphere were amazing. Service was brilliant. Couldn’t fault it. Highly recommend.
A lovely meal, great service. Lovely setting. See you again soon.
4 of us had a roast dinner. Portions very generous and beautifully cooked/presented. Cosy atmosphere with both fires lit. Excellent afternoon.
This was are first visit since it was refurbish and we were very pleased with the meal.
Had a birthday dinner for 8 of us. All had good food, good service.Good value for money exceeded our expectations.
The food was very good. It was very quiet so not much atmosphere and there was only 2 staff on for restaurant and bar. But our server was very friendly and efficient.
We had a roast dinner and the portions were huge! Tasty too.
Took 2 hours to get our meal. People next to us walked out after waiting 2.5 hours for their food.
Had a lovely birthday lunch here today 😍. Very sweet, friendly and service minded staff. Didn't wait long for the food. Had a chiabatta steak sandwich with caramelised onion, rocket salad + skinny fries. Delicious 💫. What I particularly liked was the nice and chilled atmosphere with perfect background music. You could hold a normal conversation without having to shout... fabulous.. 👏!! I'll be back for sure.
The food was very good but it got cold before it was finnished. Maybe the plates were not hot enough ?
Pleasant surroundings and staff. Food was well cooked and delicious.
Had a great Sunday lunch. The food was cooked well, there was plenty of it and it was hot. Looking forward to our next visit.
Service was great, food wss lovely and the staff werr friendly and helpful
First time visiting since the change of ownership and revamp. It was really tastefully done and we (group of female friends) had a lovely evening. Unhurried and pleasant service made it a very relaxing experience. We all tried and shared small dishes from the sharers or starters menu. Everything was delicious and I’m looking forward to going back for a full meal. Great new place to have on our doorstep.
We been with you a few times now and we always enjoy Sunday lunch it's the best place to have enjoy your Sunday and we are always going to book with you and no where else thank you so much. Kind regards Susan Sparrow

Great food, great service and lovely ambiance thank you so much
Great meal , large table and lots of variety ordered - all meals exceeded expectations and can’t wait to be back
Visited the Ox for Sunday lunch. Food was delicious, staff were tentative and waiting time was short! Will definitely be returning
We used the Ox ten years ago and it was excellent but like so many places quality of food has suffered. We know food cost & getting staff not an easy business to be in anymore
The menu looked quite good. However the cheese soufflé was appalling, it didn’t rise, was very eggy and not a soufflé at all. The scotch egg starter could have been served fresh with a runny yolk. The sea bass could have been better, the fried bacon hadn’t had the fat drained off before adding to the peas and broad beans, very fatty. The chicken milanase was slightly over cooked, a bit on the crispy side 😔. On a positive, the very young 16 year old waitress? Was very positive and friendly but not experienced with food issues
No gluten-free menu which was strange being that the venue has recently been refurbished and reopened. My first drink had the nozzle from the drink dispenser in it and my roast beef was not medium rare as I had asked (it was over cooked) the portion sizes were ok. Your waiting staff seem really inexperienced and not confident in their job
Excellent waiter,(Jack) good food, nice atmosphere. Loverley decor. You get what you pay for.
Lovely service and lovely food, well presented and delicious. We loved the decor inside too, so nice to see art of the local area
Food was lovely and really reasonable, will definitely be going back
excellent overall& we were well looked after for Sunday lunch.
