the place was empty when we arrived-however it took almost fifteen minutes before the waiter came and another half hour before our starter arrived. We told the waiter that we were going to the theatre; nevertheless, we were unable to finish our meal because we had to leave five minutes after the main course arrived. The food used to be good but we thought the quality had gone down since our last visit. The beetroot soup was actually very poor - flavorless, and served in an unappealing tin dish in which one might have served a dog's dinner. My main course (fish) was tasteless and my husband was unenthusiastic about his chicken. The service overall was dreadful. What a shame.

Service was pleasant and efficient and the food and wine were good value for money. It would have been more enjoyable still but for the rather noisy party in the opposite corner of the room but that is not a reflection on the management.

2 meals - one fairly good the other not, that one being s half filled pie with bland filling served with cold n nearly raw veg. Other meal being freshly cooked small bit of fish was fine. Quite dear for what it was and doubt I'll go back. Next day I had s libje Neal at the Bike Shed in Shoreditch for £3 less which was lovely. Can be done.

First time at this in. Very convenient for Saddlers Wells just a stroll across the road . We arrived at 5.15 before it got too busy. Nice buzzy atmosphere good cheerful service and the food was fine but not special. Would recommend that you eat upstairs if possible. Leave plenty of time as when busy it’s hectic!

There is a good choice on the pre theatre menu. Food was tasty and well cooked and great value. We also had good service even though they were very busy.

The Pearl and Feather is only two minutes from Salders Wells. They had a theatre supper for £17.00 starter and main. Food very good, staff very friendly and efficient which enabled us to get to the theater on time. I would recommend

I have not awarded 6 points as one of our party had the pie, I can’t remember what it was some game Bird with tarragon and mushrooms maybe Partridge? I had seen other people’s pies being delivered to tables with raised puff crusts but his was sunken and soggy, rather a mean portion as well in my opinion. Also I think you could streatch to two slices of bread with the pate! Fish and chips were great. Service very good indeed. Thank you.

Service was good to start with and then we had to wait ages for desserts and we had a theatre meal. We were just in time for our show at Sadlers Wells. Portion size was quite small considering the price. £6 for dessert is steep.

A good meal with efficient and pleasant service. I wasn’t aware that there was a set pre theatre meal from the website, but there was a good choice within it and flexible too. Would go again.

Really lovely venue, the staff were very helpful staff and the food was amazing. Quick turn around which was brilliant for a pre-ballet dinner. Great way to start the Christmas break.

Great food but 30 minutes passed between first and main course- we had the pre theatre menu as we were heading to a show. Meant we had to google down the main in 10 minutes.

Great evening - lovely atmosphere, good value tasty pre-theatre meal and wine. Only thing not keen on was the Trumans draft beer, so may be better to take the craft beer option.

Really appalling experience. Pre-theatre menu was absolutely no value for price. Minuscule portions and bland food. Waiter told us they couldn't replace the cutlery between courses as they didn't have enough knives and forks! Had to insist to get it changed. We'll never come back.

Food was excellent and was just perfect for an early dinner before the ballet. Only minor complaint was that it was quite noisy but what can we expect on the Christmas weekend. Will go again in the New Year.

Table booked for 10. Confirmed by email the week before. Upon arrival - only a table for 6. The staff were really friendly and good, but not enough of them on a busy Friday before Xmas. The meal took over 45 mins to arrive, and was very average despite being expensive.

The food was great but the service was really poor. It was a long wait for our mains, we were actually asked for our pudding orders before we received our mains. None of our side orders arrived. Drinks ordered were not received. When we got to ordering desserts we were told there were 4 Orange Cakes left. But we only received 3 of the 4 we ordered without any explanation. The manager did try to rectify things and gave us a round of drinks for free. The food was excellent quality and it’s a lovely pub. I would give it another go as the manager did try to put things right.

Good food, but dervice slow and lacked attentiveness. Why put a lamb shank taking half an hour to cook onto a pre-theatre menu?Poorly thought through. Venue was busy, but if you're offering a pre-theatre menu, that's to be expected and should have been taken into account when arranging staffing. Will try The Gate,a few doors down next time.

We were late arriving due to tube problems but the restaurant was very accommodating and managed to serve us a delicious two course pretheatre dinner in quick time to get us to the theatre.

Food and service was adequate - limited pub menu - seem to run out of white wine that we chose - scallops for starters were "tasteless" - fish and chips as main course was ok.

The food was quite nice for the price and venue nicely decorated. Only issue was the waitress took half the tables plates while the other half were still eating. Made us feel a bit rushed. Other than that it was good value.

Great lively atmosphere pre theatre and very busy the staff worked their socks off. Main courses veal chop and lemon sole were gorgeous, perfectly cooked and both were dishes that can be disappointing with un-careful handling. The only reason I didn't give top marks was the starter, pate, it was fine but looked just unwrapped from local supermarket. Will certainly go again.

Unfortunately we had a poor experience at The Pearl & Feather. We were one of the first groups in the restaurant for a pre theatre meal. The restaurant soon filled up. Despite placing our order from the pre theatre menu promptly, and our starters being delivered to our table within 5 minutes, we then had to wait for over an hour for our main courses. We noticed that tables that had been seated & ordered after us were all having their mains delivered before us. When I enquired, it seemed they were looking for our order, but instead of admitting there had been a mix up, I got a terse response that our mains take far longer than those that other patrons had ordered, which is quite ridiculous. A thin fillet of seabas takes minutes to cook. He did not seem sorry at all & was in fact rude. When our mains did turn up, the vegetables were cold, and something like a lamb shank which should be slow cooked so that the meat falls of the bone, was tough & inedible. They have let themselves down, and being rude instead of aplogetic in the first instance has lost them customers.

Mixed feelings about this place. This was not my first visit and I would go back again. The food is always of a high standard but a bit disappointed this time that I specifically asked for the roast beef to be served medium to well but it arrived very rare. also there was no coffee available! Could do with a couple more choices of pudding.

Very obliging and helpful staff. We had the pre theatre menu and there was no delay with food being presented. Very good selection of meals and wine all at reasonable price. We will definitely be back.

Great food but delay in communication between waitress and kitchen meant starter did not arrive much before mains and sides were not received at all.

We had been previously visited so we knew the food would be good, but this time the heating was barely on and even though we asked if the heating could be turned up nothing happened apart from one small space heater being moved, so we got very cold!!

The perfect menu for a pre theatre meal. Nice friendly service from the staff, good ambiance and an excellent wine list. Tables well set out and the opportunity for a quick snack is also available

Disappointing. Food was bland, unappetizing and badly presented. Also they didn't seem to have enough waiting staff to cope with the Pre-Theatre menu rush. We were constantly looking at our watch and chasing up the staff! Used to be good when it was the Bistro but we won't be rushing back again.

Good meal and service but slightly spoilt by the lack of coffee, although they gave us a complimentary pudding to share. They do not have a coffee machine! It would be easy to serve coffee in cafetieres - no machine required apart from a kettle!

the service was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Our waitress was particularly charming as well as efficient. This was our second visit -on our first visit we had fish (with chorizo - unusual and successful combination) This time we had the lamb shanks with lentils - a real winner! This is the perfect place for a meal before a performance at Sadlers Wells across the street - it's a civilised start to the evening !
