We had a fabulous evening. A friendly welcome, great service, the food was amazing especially the steak pie. A drink for our dog - what more could we ask? Thank you
Excellent in every way. Re noise levels- our table was probably a tad noisy! The three of us had a thoroughly great Sunday Roast and conversation. Not a mobile phone in sight!
I think they may have been a bit understaffed that evening but the service was friendly and helpful. It was very warm so we weren't that hungry. We shared a baked camembert starter and I had a another veggie starter (broccolini) and my partner had the scampi. It was all very tasty and we had a very pleasant evening.
Nice venue with good outside seating areas which is great as the weather was good. Good food at reasonable prices
We were a party of 6 plus a baby. We were very well looked after. Food was excellent- lots of choice. Lovely olde world pub. Highly recommend.
Not so good this time potatoes.with the main course were inedible and they didn’t notice
Really poor this time from start to finish. Poor service, inedible fries and finally a cappuccino made with boiled milk. I complained and was served an unthinkable luke warm option.
Really good this time really interesting menu and a nice busy atmosphere
Very nice place. We will return. It is in a lovely position
We have eaten here many times and it never disappoints, another lovely meal and so nice to be by the fire with good food and beer after a bracing walk
Great food, service and welcome. Well worth a visit, we will be back! The staff were very attentive and nothing too much bother. A gem of a place which I highly recommend.
Excellent service and food. Visited this place a few times now and never had cause to complain about service or food. Recommend booking though as busy every time we have been. But you would expect that with the lovely food.
The Plough Inn near Hathersage has a friendly and hospitable atmosphere. It serves good quality food with friendly staff. The drinks available are also commendable.
Lovely food, as always and finished our anniversary celebration off perfectly. Would recommend the food to others. The atmosphere was lovely especially with the log burner on as the temperature outside had dropped significantly, giving an autumnal chill to the air.
High quality food but over priced. Also table we sat at was in a corridor section of the bar with staff walking past all the time. Friendly and efficient staff.
Excellent accommodation. Rooms very good, plenty of storage for clothing and lovely comfortable bed. Walk in shower powerful. Food very good with good choices on menu. A little over priced but well worth the extra.
Very nice Sunday lunch, roast beef was perfect, the right amount on the plate and the Service was excellent. We will definitely go there again in the future. Thank you...
Lovely setting but to be perfectly honest we did feel the meal was over priced for what it was. Chicken meal was fine for my Mum but 4no, VERY small new potatoes would not have filled the average adult. Roast beef was tasty but very fatty. Ice cream two scoops in a breakfast bowl was poor-- no wafer or anything. And lastly the orange cake was delicious but again very small portion. We are not big eaters by the way !!
The service was good, food pretty reasonable though fish and chips did not match our recent experience of same at The Anglers - day of the week, ie Monday Plough and Friday Anglers may have been a factor. Peaches in sweet were dire (creme caramel I believe) could hardly cut
The welcome and quality of accommodation was first class. All staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The standard of food was second to none.Good selection of beers.Would definitely recommend.
What a gem lovely atmosphere good unhurried service. We ate from the à la carte m’enu and will be going back until we have tried them all.
A good atmosphere in the pub. The Tables are not too close. There is A reasonable choice on the menu. Possibly a little pricey? Service was ok.
Great to have so many gluten free options. Food very good and friendly service. Good selection of wine by the glass too. We had a lovely evening.
Service was prompt and pleasant. Food was somewhat overpriced compared to other pub Sunday roasts. Beef was very tasty but chewy and roast potatoes were over cooked. Overall we enjoyed the food but feel it could have been better quality.
Great location, wonderful food & ale, top service! Range & quality of food was impressive. Beef & ale pudding was to die for! We’ll certainly be back when up in this gorgeous part of England in the future.
The waitress asked us if our food was OK and we thought that was an accurate description - it was OK but as a 'foodie pub' we expected a bit more than that - not feeling that we'd rush back
We loved the food and the service but the table wasn’t quite big enough and wasn’t completely laid. Otherwise amazing . Beautiful pub and gardens.
Friendly welcome, good service, tasty food and genuinely dog-friendly. Prices are reasonable, and the pub is in a good location for nearby walks and sights.
A traditional Derbyshire Inn which serves consistently good and imaginative food in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
Great Food, great atmosphere and always great service, would recommend highly. In a Beautiful part of the Derbyshire countryside, this family run pub never disappoints.
The Plough is one of our 'special' places, but last Wednesday, it was not up to its usual standard. Our table by the fireplace was shabby, and very, very, sticky to the touch. It was not laid up correctly, no cutlery for our starters, and none for our desserts. We had requested a table at the far end of the bar, but when we arrived we found that they had already seated another couple there. There were only two young girls to cater for a fairly busy lunch service. Bob's son was called away to deal with something outside, and that, and the fact that Bob wasn't around made the difference. We have been going there for the past 16yrs since my wife and I first met, and had our first lunch date at The Plough, and last Wednesday was the anniversary of our that meeting, and sadly it was not up to its usual standard.
Lovely country pub. Excellent food; we don’t go here enough really! Dog friendly which is excellent. Very accommodating for our fussy daughter too. Can’t fault it (although my husband would have preferred not to have a pork chop for his Sunday Roast!).
Lovely country pub / restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere. The food and service were very good. We thought that the wine was too expensive.
Good food, good service- what more could you want. Particularly like the optional smaller portions especially at lunchtime. It was warm and comfortable, just right for a cold early Spring day.
Delicious food and friendly service. A lovely cosy pub, ideal for lunch with friends. Good to see a menu that’s varied but doesn’t overwhelm with pages of choice.
Food and atmosphere fantastic as always. First time we have ordered from the children’s menu for our 18 month old. The child’s Sunday lunch is only a slice of beef away from the adults one, so not really for such a young child. NOT COMPLAINING though as daddy managed to finish it!!! 😉Be back soon!
Had a lovely meal with my family on the 2nd of jan 2018 Very friendly and worming food was great will defo be coming back loved it see you soon Mr ward 07968875715
Excellent food in an excellent location, friendly staff who were very accommodating throughout to our needs. Will definitely be returning to the Plough Inn soon.
OK apart from oily linguine and sparse veg with the meat pie. Surely they can stretch to more than a few peas! Pretty pricey also although probably par for Peak prices!
Super lunch as always at The Plough. The roast beef is as good as you'll find anywhere- cooked to perfection. Plenty of other excellent choices too. Good, unobtrusive service and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
