Very good portions and reasonable prices. The ambience of the restaurant is that of a typical British pub, very enjoyable and great service too.

Overall it was a great place to dine and will recommend the Priest Hole to friends.

Lovely Resturant and very welcoming and helpful staff. Went above and beyond to be helpful and made an extra special effort with out baby boy. The food was amazing would say 5* very taste and flavoursome. So much of the menus we wanted to try. Highly recommend. X

A truly great meal with brilliant service. The roasts we had were exceptional. The service we had was also great. We had some questions about allergens before our visit which were answered quickly by Ollie. A must visit place when visiting Ambleside.

Been to Ambleside many times and never visited until last night. What can I say it was amazing the food the service everything. Will definitely be going back.

The food was delicious, the service poor, e.g main delivered when we'd only just finished the starter, initially brought the wrong drinks, got another tables bill...and more. The staff functional at best,.no warmth or welcoming vibes, quite grumpy and rushing around...didn't add to the ambience.

The range of starters, mains and desserts was very varied and included some unique ‘Priest Hole’ menu items. We visited on a Thursday which was Steak night so my husband was very happy to select his main meal from a range of 4 or 5 steaks on offer that evening. All of the waiting staff who served us were very friendly and helpful and we were seated in a quieter area of the restaurant, as requested when we made our online reservation. We would definitely visit again if we came back to Ambleside and will not hesitate to recommend The Priest Hole to friends and family visiting the Lake District in the future. Thank you for a lovely dining experience!

Great food, Great service lovely atmosphere worth visiting reasonably priced

The restaurant was beautiful and the food was great, however, because we booked early we were rushed off our table so they could get another cover in. We were not advised this would happen at the time of booking and consequently, we were finishing pudding with the next table of people lined up looking at us, waiting to be seated. We felt rushed and uncomfortable and it would have been impossible to have three courses. Especially since the second cover arrived slightly early. The whole experience was ruined for all of us. SO disappointed and would never visit again after that.

The food was lovely but there was a really long wait time after we’d finished our main before anyone came to clear our food and then again to take our pudding order.

The restaurant is clearly popular, however Nicola although very efficient created an abrupt service. No warm welcome, throwing used bottles into recycling bin behind the bar very loudly. This was not a calm atmosphere to enjoy the reasonably good food. Poor customer service.

Everything was as we've experienced on previous visits over the years.. fantastic. Only slight niggle was the music coming from the kitchen, when the restaurant was playing music too! Turn the volume right down in the kitchen, guys.. or turn it off.. music is for the customers too enjoy atmos.

Great food & service. Been to Ambleside many times & couldn't believe we've missed this gem before. The history to this restaurant is amazing & explained by the staff. Lots of good restaurants in Ambleside, but this experience just topped it.
