Good food & service. However one of the party ordered a chicken curry but the chicken was very tough and inedible. In fairness to the staff that meal was deducted from the bill. Would return if in Ambleside again.

We have been a couple of times before and it was really good food. This time the bbq ribs were quite dry and tasteless. My fish was nice but small compared to other restaurants.

Waitress was lovely but overstretched. Steak was ordered rare but came out well done but they were happy to replace with a rare steak. Food was ok - pie looked very good.

An experience with two sides. Firstly the waiting staff were top notch, friendly, attentive, and trying to resolve the situation. But then there was the food, not good! Starters of prawn pil pil and belly pork were good. Mains - 8oz sirloin was just fat, sinew, and gristle, and was inedible definately from the laziest cow in the field - Steak and ale pie was ok until you got toward the edge where the meat was hard and black, I wonder how many times the pie had been cooked. We were offered to have the steak changed, but why would we want to eat our meals separately. Also offered to replace both meals, declined this as why would other food be any different in quality? Won't be giving them a second chance.

Food lacked taste. Nice starter - mushroom in garlic, chilli, oil and butter Pie - appeared home made, however had been reheated as a portion and made dry and hard. Probably quite nice if eaten as made fresh. Meatballs with pasta. Meatballs - dry and over cooked. Pasta sauce was bland and probably just pasta, no garlic or taste. Was something I would have put on a children's menu Very under whelming food. Probably would not recommend or yeah back.

Had the Sunday roast, the beef was terrible, why you would put fatty/gristle meat on a plate? Cauliflower cheese was bright yellow and totally unappetising. My husband had the steak pie, which he was struggling to cut. Wish I had taken note of other reviews on TripAdvisor.

Lovely staff, really know what they are doing. Had already put out a high chair for us as requested, but it's nice to see it was done. Mum loves it here and she really enjoyed it all, the food was good for all the people who needed to eat different diets, and it's a lovely setting.

Nice welcome and good service, fish and chip good and very hot, the mushy peas were a bit cold and too mushy for our liking. Website prices around £2 lower than the actual menu!!! Needs updating!

The food was absolutely grim....tough tasteless fried "chicken Kiev" with burnt crumbs which they tried to call a special 😂😂😂 it Was beyond vile and I could taste the chip pan Avoid unless you are absolutely desperate.. You'd be better off going to the Tesco express for a pot noodle.
