great food and service excellent value for money looking forward to revisiting soon

I’ve been regularly since the Raj opened in Blackhall and though I’ve always enjoyed the food the business model they’ve adopted was wrong. I understand it will be closing in the next few weeks

Welcomed to the restaurant which was warm and comfortable on a cold night. Order taken very quickly and food arrived shortly after. Enjoyed the meal and the bill was very reasonable.

tasty food at a reasonable price. Previous visits have had issues with availability of dishes, but not this time. A shame it's not a bit busier.

The food was lovely but the Raj really needs to get its service sorted out! There were 5 of us on Hogmanay evening and there was a special menu which was a bit confusing as part of the menu seemed to suggest you chose 4 dishes per 2 people. When we asked how it worked we were no clearer at the end of the conversation! We ended up ordering 6 dishes between 5 (as one of the waiters said that was enough) but when food arrived the portions were smaller than normal so we ended up ordering another 4 dishes. We also need extra rice and nan bread as small portions and the waiter got very annoyed that we wanted extra nan. This restaurant used to be one of our favourites - especially their buffet (which they no longer do) - but part of the joy of it was the previous waiting staff - who were all excellent and knowledgeable about the food. Tommy you need to get your service staff sorted out as it is letting down some wonderful food!

Excellent food but very quiet for a Saturday night and lacking atmosphere. Used to be a great place. Don’t know what’s happened to it now.

The best Indian restaurant and staff very friendly and efficient! Great meal and very good prices! Restaurant is also very comfortable inside with great decor! Moira

Delicious food, attentive service. This is my local Indian restaurant and I always enjoy going there. The staff are great and the food is excellent. Well worth a visit.

Delicious flavourful curries served with fluffy rice. Crispy poppadums and a variety of chutneys. Lovely serving staff who made us feel very welcome. I go there frequently and the quality is consistant.

did not appreciate being served reheated tandoori chicken. this was not fresh out of a tandoori, and was dry. surprisingly also do not sell cider, Edinburgh has better than this. i won't be back.

Very tasty traditional British Asian food. Excellent friendly service as always. The Raj is a local gem in Blackhall. We will certainly be back soon!

Tasty food, good service, cosy environment . perfect for couples or groups

Lovely welcome, very accommodating for a 1 year old and didn’t even charge for any of their food which was so kind. Service a little slow and a bit of confusion with orders but other than that no complaints, food excellent and staff really nice.

The take away service is f........ the Diners . The Raj should give some basic training to their Staff before setting them loose on the Diners. We will not be back anytime soon! Ed Kelly

We had a delicious meal at the Raj. My starter of vegetable pakora was crispy and flavoursome. My tandoori chicken main was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The staff were friendly and we were given complimentary popodums at the beginning and a digestif drink at the end. Definitely recommend a visit here.

Lovely restaurant and food but the waiter was looking away and distracted the whole time he was taking our order. He didn’t seeem interested in us as customers. Not very welcoming.

Very good food. House wines good too. Very busy restaurant so service was a bit slow, but not too bad. Would happily return on another day.

Brilliant local Indian restaurant. All the usual favourites but cooked with skill and using the finest quality ingredients. A special place. Well worth a visit.

Once again, a very nice meal with some extras thrown in at the end. We will be back sometime in the new year I'm sure.

Great food. Great service and great atmosphere made all the more enjoyable as it's so near to home.Prices are also very reasonable and the free drink at the end is a great touch, whether you want a coffee or a liqueur it's a great way to end the experience.

A really top quality Indian restaurant - a cut above most. Excellent food. We enjoyed crisp onion bhajis and really good pasanda and dhansak - not oily and tender meat. Very good service. Highly recommended. Many thanks

Delicious meal, great service. Ordered the Kerala fish curry and it was delicious. One of the best i have tasted. Surprised by complimentary drink and coffee! Would go again 😀

Friendly staff, good atmosphere, environment OK, menu a bit limited. Price fair. Service - almost too good as we had to slow things down a bit.

Food was lovely and service was excellent! Great value for money. I would definitely recommend the buffet night on a Sunday. We will return again soon!

Buffet was very good and great value. We particularly liked the selection of starters. Staff were very attentive without intruding on our privacy. We will come back again.

Local Blackhall restaurant - good food, great value and super atmosphere. Very easy and convienent. Staff professional, attentive and pleasant. Would recommend and will be back.

We had the Thali for four, six main dishes four vegetable dishes, rice, nans and a selection of starters. Every dish was superb and the service was fast and very friendly. It was the first visit for two of us who were very impressed, the other two are regulars and the four of us have already booked for a return.

Excellent food and service Would recommend this restaurant They do a nice compliment deserts and they also take around a wee trolley with some complementary lacquer drinks and tea and coffee that's something different and very unique well done

Great food and very friendly and helpful staff. It is a relaxing place and no rush to get you out, so you can stay and chat to friends and family. This was mid-week so not too busy or noisy.

The Raj at Blackhall provides good Indian food, good service, nice atmosphere and is very reasonably priced. I will definitely go back again. A very nice touch is the complimentary after dinner sweet, coffee and liqueurs.
