After serving the people of Leith with delicious Indian cuisine for thirty years, lucky for the spice loving foodies of Blackhall, The Raj has now relocated. Found on Hillhouse Road, The Raj takes time-honoured cooking recipes and gives them a modern update, offering a comprehensive menu bursting with choices, from meat and fresh seafood to an array of vegetarian options. Begin your meal with an old favourite like the chicken tikka or try some spicy tuna fish cakes, before moving on to a mouthwatering main like the aromatic lamb (lean and tender lamb cooked with lots of spices, tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach with yogurt) or the bengal tiger (stir-fried chicken with onion, garlic, ginger peppers & Bengal tiger chutney to give a sweet and sour taste). To guarantee a table at The Raj in Edinburgh’s Blackhall area, making a reservation in advance is recommended.
Small, intimate restaurant, serving hot, tasty Indian cuisine. Excellent menu choices for both starters and main courses. Great value for money. Friendly, attentive staff. We'll be back
Brilliant local Indian restaurant. All the usual favourites but cooked with skill and using the finest quality ingredients. A special place. Well worth a visit.
Once again, a very nice meal with some extras thrown in at the end. We will be back sometime in the new year I'm sure.
Great food. Great service and great atmosphere made all the more enjoyable as it's so near to home.Prices are also very reasonable and the free drink at the end is a great touch, whether you want a coffee or a liqueur it's a great way to end the experience.
We had the Thali for four, six main dishes four vegetable dishes, rice, nans and a selection of starters. Every dish was superb and the service was fast and very friendly. It was the first visit for two of us who were very impressed, the other two are regulars and the four of us have already booked for a return.
Very friendly welcome, good food and excellent service throughout. Two of our group had not been to the Raj before and have now put it on their list. Excellent value for money and the complimentary after dinner drinks and sweet a treat.
Great food and very friendly and helpful staff. It is a relaxing place and no rush to get you out, so you can stay and chat to friends and family. This was mid-week so not too busy or noisy.
A really top quality Indian restaurant - a cut above most. Excellent food. We enjoyed crisp onion bhajis and really good pasanda and dhansak - not oily and tender meat. Very good service. Highly recommended. Many thanks
Excellent food and service Would recommend this restaurant They do a nice compliment deserts and they also take around a wee trolley with some complementary lacquer drinks and tea and coffee that's something different and very unique well done
Lovely attentive staff nice food reasonably priced. Nearby parking. We reserved on a Tuesday evening and just as well as it was fairly busy maybe just this time of year. (Festival)
