Found on Hillhouse Road, The Raj takes time-honoured cooking recipes and gives them a modern update, offering a comprehensive menu bursting with choices, from meat and fresh seafood to an array of vegetarian options. Begin your meal with an old favourite like the chicken tikka or try some spicy tuna fish cakes, before moving on to a mouthwatering main like the aromatic lamb (lean and tender lamb cooked with lots of spices, tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach with yogurt) or the bengal tiger (stir-fried chicken with onion, garlic, ginger peppers & Bengal tiger chutney to give a sweet and sour taste). To guarantee a table at The Raj in Edinburgh’s Blackhall area, making a reservation in advance is recommended.
Delicious flavourful curries served with fluffy rice. Crispy poppadums and a variety of chutneys. Lovely serving staff who made us feel very welcome. I go there frequently and the quality is consistant.
Very tasty traditional British Asian food. Excellent friendly service as always. The Raj is a local gem in Blackhall. We will certainly be back soon!
We had a delicious meal at the Raj. My starter of vegetable pakora was crispy and flavoursome. My tandoori chicken main was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The staff were friendly and we were given complimentary popodums at the beginning and a digestif drink at the end. Definitely recommend a visit here.
