Service was a little slow but staff were friendly and helpful. Food was hot and very tasty and individual requirements were catered for without question. Would eat here again 😃
Booking very easy and we enjoyed our Roast Sunday lunch at the Sanford . All the staff were friendly, table was available. Only negative was the part flooded car park
We were a family party who went for Sunday lunch. The food was ok, a few of us had the cavery. The beef was very tough we had to ask for steak knives to cut it. It was tasty but chewy. The veg was good fresh and well cooked. The younger ones in our group had burgers which they enjoyed. There were a lot of staff. Mostly young staff which could have done with some training. There was quite a wait for taking the order. They tried their best and were very polite.
I always choose The Sandford Pub when I have friends with small children visiting. We always ask to sit in the Conservatory so that the children can run around outside and play in an enclosed and safe environment. The food is always very good and caters well for families.
My partners meal was lovely. I had the carvery which wasnt the best i had there was nothing on the meat and the gravy was thin and not very nice.
The food was awful I had lasagne with what can only be described as squares of spam chopped up in it and my children had chicken nuggets which were battered in greasy fish better. They also added extra on the bill so check that before you leave!! Not a good experience will not be returning.
Firstly I booked this restaurant online for Mothering Sunday to treat my Mum, then I received a phone call from them about an hour later to advise that I couldn't have that time slot, it was already booked. At this time I confirmed that we could just have the normal Sunday carvery and asked the price. I was told that the carvery wasn't a problem and the price was £10.50, I pointed out that online it is shown as £9.50 and was told that they would honour that price. When we arrived we were shown to our table by the manager and asked if we wanted drinks, we asked for the drinks menu, but were told that she could tell us anything we wanted to know. After we had received our drinks and sat there for a while we asked if we could go up to the carvery as there was no one getting food, but we were told to wait until we were told to go up. My daughter popped out to the toilet, it was at this point that we were then told to go and get our food, I said I wanted to wait for my daughter to come back but was told I had to go up now. The food was disappointing, roast potatoes were black, I like them crispy, but these were all completely black, the veg was overcooked and soggy, and the cauliflower cheese, had virtually no cheese, the beef was also over cooked and looked dry. We then realised that the star of the carvery was missing, the hog roast, I asked the chef why it wasn't there, he said that they hadn't been able to provide it for a few weeks as the machine was broken, yet when I asked on the phone if they were doing the normal carvery this was not mentioned. The hog roast was what we had hoped to have. Part way through the meal the waitress asked if everything was ok, so we mentioned the roast potatoes being burnt and tough, she had no idea what to do and walked away, so pointless asking really. She then came back later and asked the same thing, I told her the answer was still the same as when she asked previously. When we finished the meal we asked for the bill, they tried to charge us £12.92 a head for the carvery so we sent that back and asked for a manager, she then replaced the bill but charged us £10.50 a head, and did not want to listen when I tried to explain that we were told that the online price would be honoured. Eventually she begrudgingly reduced the price but there was no compensation for the extremely burnt roast potatoes, not even an apology. The rest of the time we were there, the manager and staff kept looking at us and whispering, it was so obvious they were talking about us and made us feel uncomfortable. When we left, even though we walked right past the manager she did not say anything to us. Outside they are still displaying the board advertising their Hog Roast Carvery, every Sunday. I will not be going back as I have had far better food and service at several other local establishments, the Halfway Inn and Clay Pipe to name two.
They had a great selection on the menu and the food was fantastic. The carvery looked amazing too. The staff were attentive and I would definitely go back. I would highly recommend.
We visited out of peak season (in early February). Positives: Nice pub, lovely food, well cooked. Excellent gluten free range (one Coeliac in group), knowledgeable and helpful staff. Negatives: Saturday night and we were the only ones eating. The room was very chilly. We had a good evening and we will definitely revisit. I should imagine that it is a very busy place in the peak season.
Enjoyed our meals very much! When we are back in the area I’m sure we’ll be back for a meal again!
You weren't open on our booked day due to refurbishment . Was phoned to tell us you were not going to be open , has to book somewhere else
Had a fantastic Christmas day at the Sandford Pub,staff very friendly and lovely food . We were just visiting the area had never been before would definitely recommend.
Excellent meal with very attentive staff. Food was presented nicely and very well cooked. A good selection suiting large and small appetites with a traditional twist on many pub classics.
Staff was great very friendly food was cooked to perfection every one in our party enjoyed!! Definitely will be going again!!!!thankyou will be seeing you soon!!😀😋👍
We had a lovely meal, the food was great and the portion sizes were good. The service was friendly and welcoming. Good value for money. Would definitely recommend.
I found this pub on line as we were going on holiday. It's a lovely friendly atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff. Food was beautiful, good value
Great family pub, lovely outside play area and the food was lovely. Baby change facilities were a bit awkward but would definitely go back again.
I really touched by gesture of owner we ordered kids meals and carvey my family waited for the kids meals before getting carvey only to be told a 5 min wait for roast pots but this turned in to a 25 min wait by which time kids (5) of them had eaten!! Luckily play area outside to keep happy but she deducted the 4 carvey meals and replace a round of drinks as a good will gesture very impressed and veg was all fresh and roast pots worth the wait! Kids meals fantastic only down side cheap ketchup!!! Not Heinz !!
Not enough staff for a busy Saturday evening....not the staffs fault the one that were there were very helpful and working so hard. Food was lovely
Excellent food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Helpful with everythingwe needed. Dog was welcomed by the staff and was made very welcome. Would recommend it to anyone. Will be going to the place again for everything
Many items on the menu were unavailable, the soup was luke warm and tasteless and the decor was tired but the staff were very friendly.
Great food great value and great service! What more could anyone want? We very much enjoyed our visit last weekend. The welcome was warm and the ambiance good! Good disabled access too.
Food was tasty but burgers were undercooked, and service was slow. They seemed disorganised or understaffed with other diners also having problems that evening. They did at least knock money off the bill.
Food fantastic - great service - they even held our table for us as we were stuck in traffic and over an hour late. Would recommend
Nice pub and we enjoyed great food and very good service! Sandford Pub is now on the list for revisit and recommendation to friends and colleagues
Excellent food and good service and. Wet good value. Excellent choice for my husband who is gluten free - he even had sticky toffee pudding! We would definitely visit again.
Great food. Good menu. Lovely service. Shame the bar area isn't a little more welcoming. Very bright lights. However we will be back and soon!
The food was amazing. We really enjoyed it. The only reason we gave it a 3 was because the waiting service was bad. They forgot our second round of drinks. So they said they would take it off the bill, but they didn't. Then we waited over an hour for our deserts ( mainly ice cream) If the service was good we would have gave them a 6 as the food was beautiful.
The food was beautiful! All freshly cooked, well presented, tasted fab and was very good value for money. The pub also has a lovely, big beer garden. The internal decor is a little shabby but that did not detract from the quality of the food and the lovely, attentive staff.
