Staff and service excellent as usual however the mains were a Little overdone.

Once again excellent food and very friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit.

Group of 6 people who enjoyed our visit. One complaint was dealt with promptly. We would revisit.

Service was very slow, they had a lot of extra people for Sunday lunch. Were apologetic but took 1 hr for starters to arrive. Food was good when it came except 1 starter which was overdone. will go back and try again as I'm sure we just caught them on a bad day due to the unseasonal nice weather bringing people out.

We were served delicious food, served by quick helpful and efficient staff and at the end the bill was much lower then we might have reasonably expected. Ticked all the boxes for us!

We were made to feel welcome by very friendly staff and given a choice of sitting in the bar or the restaurant. There was a good choice of well cooked food. With excellent service this was a very enjoyable meal..

Went for another Sunday lunch, next best thing to a home cooked dinner. Can’t beat the value for money on a Sunday with their 2 and 3 course meals.

Enjoyable evening with our close friends The bar was very busy and noisy when we first walked in. The restaurant was quieter . Comfortable seating and spacious The menu hadn't changed much from last time we came. The Cod was large and tasty and Bolton free for my friend. Friendly and helpful staff Reasonable value . Food very good but waiting time for both courses was far too long. Handled very well by the manager but left feeling disappointed as it was an anniversary meal.

Highly recommend The Vernon, really enjoyed the lasagne (though beware the side salad comes with a dressing, think it was mustard, and may not be to everyone’s taste) and the sticky toffee pudding was divine! Looking forward to a return visit.

Went for lunch mid week for the first time and it was just as great as an evening meal. Always top standards from start to finish

Staff were very responsive, pleasant and appeared happy in their work. The food was very good value and the proportions were generous. The surroundings were clean and attractive and we will return soon.

Generally a nice visit however one of our party who never complains found his starter plate to be dirty and his main course Beer Battered Cod very greasy. It appeared to have gone straight from the fryer to the plate without being drained. So fish and chips were swamped with grease. Waitress was very co operative and took the meal off the bill. Everything else was fine.

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and very clean. The service was both excellent and friendly. The menu had plenty of choice and the food was very tasty. A very enjoyable lunch.

Beautiful food, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Some of the portions could have been bigger but the presentation was lovely and the fizz was constantly topped up. A lovely evening.

Waiting staff very friendly and restaurant nicely presented. but we waited over an hour for starters for four people. Steaks were over cooked, fish was dry, steak pie was abysmal (was left) chips were over cooked and somehow soggy, vegetables overcooked - all round the food was disappointing. Which is a pity as the pub is nicely situated..... don’t think we will be going back ☹️

Excellent food very tasty, the cod was huge so beware. plenty of options to choose from. Good choice of well priced wines. Nice setting, very quirky inside.

Lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. Staff were attentive when we needed to be but also left me and my friend to just sit and chat after we had finished eating. I would definitely go here again.

Plenty of choice on the menu and the food was well cooked and presented and delicious. The staff very pleasant and helpful and we sat chatting for ages and weren’t hurried at all. Great.
