More about Tsiakkos & Charcoal, London

Tsiakkos & Charcoal is about as local as you can get, and the passion felt when you enter this London restaurant in Maida Vale is infectious. This small and cosy Greek restaurant pays particular attention to everything from the muted wooden furnishings and soft retro-style decor, to the precise, colourful and vibrant manner in which they plate their delicious dishes. With succulent meats cooked to perfection on the charcoal grill, on full display from the open kitchen, the menu at Tsiakkos & Charcoal is without a doubt the star of the show.

Kick things off in true Greek style at Tsiakkos & Charcoal with a few mezze plates to share. Some of our favourites include, loukanika of Greek pork sausage from the chargrill, beetroot salad drenched in lashings of olive oil, garlic and parsley, halloumi dressed with olive oil and lemon, and a traditional dip made from smoked cod roe called taramosalata. For the main event, keep an eye out for the traditional moussaka made with layered pork mince, potato and aubergine topped with a housemade bechamel sauce, slow-cooked pork shoulder or the delectable seabream dressed simply with olive oil and lemon. Though, to be honest no trip to Tsiakkos & Charcoal is complete without washing it all down with a chilled glass of ouzo! You’ll find Tsiakkos & Charcoal on Maryland Road in Maida Vale, not far from central London – Yamas!

Amazing food, great and friendly service and very well priced. I really recommend this restaurant, in particular the Taramasalata and the amazingly tender lamb kleftico!!

We were a party of two and had the Meze platter (£25) each. It was sooooooooo much food. We were warned but we went for it. Food is yummy and well priced and staff are super friendly. You really do feel like you're entering some random person's house when you come in but the atmosphere is great. I think I will try the individual item menu's next time as I felt I didn't have enough room in my stomach for the key dishes that came at the end, which was a shame.

As ever absolutely fabulous. T&C is fantastically atmospheric, warm, friendly, laid back but buzzing, informal but highly efficient. It feels like being round at your best mate`s for an incredibly well catered party. The full meze is remarkably great value ( as is the house white ) for varied veg, salad, pulse, pork, chicken, lamb and fish delights. All marvellously prepared in abundance. It is so good that however full you are, and the portions are more than generous, you just can`t allow yourself to leave anything. The burnt pork ends and rice is orgasmically delicious. Thank you to all involved, happy well deserved, holidays. Now if only the Gunners could be so consistently excellent I`d be an ever happy woman!

Authentic cuisine cooked simply but with care. Amazing quality and value for money. Always feels like we've stumbled on a little hidden away restaurant on holiday in Greece. Completely unique experience and very welcoming. No frills, and all the better for it. Cosy covered garden area at the back provides a delightful and unforgettable location. The interior is characterful and warm. Fresh food cooked to perfection on a charcoal grill and a small, genuinely prepared menu. Honest and friendly. Rare commodities in this part of the world. Our favourite restaurant.

Great small authentic greek restaurant. we did the meze platters, for 25GBP per person. It was by far the most expensive option on the menu but it was amazing food and it was so much that we took the rests with us and it was enough for lunch the next day. Totally recomendable.

Tsiakkos & Charcoal is by far the best Greek restaurant in London. The mezes here are to die for and service always comes with a smile.

The starters were good, although these trickled out and we had to remind them of one which took ages to appear and when it did it was a big disappointment. The beef was overcooked and tough. The chicken souvlaki was undercooked and the rice was over spiced in a way that detracted from the taste. Most of the waiting staff looked like they wanted to be somewhere else and seldom did they make eye contact. Table service was poor as were the toilet facilities. A towel is not a good substitute for paper towels. Paying the bill was a joke and we ended up taking it to the staff behind reception. It felt cheated having to pay for such sloppy service and they did not seem to care. I would not recommend eating here.
