Excellent food and professional service. The restaurant itself is a beautiful space, very light and comfortable. Lovely flavours and good wine. I would recommend it.
Clever and attractively presented food and it all tasted great. Nice surroundings, attentive and pleasant staff. We had a lovely evening. I have eaten taster menu's at several Michelin star restaurants, this experience was up there with them. Very well done Tony visited 11/05/2017
Discretely located in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter, Two Cats Kitchen is a restaurant to go to for an excellent fine dining experience. One might not expect a gastronomic journey with the red brick setting of the dining room but looks can be deceiving. The tasting menu (7-course) was well presented and delicious - using a range of products from seafood (octopus) to different meats. Staff were attentive and friendly. Great service and food. Highly recommend dining here.
Delicious food and quick and efficient service. The 7-course tasting menu is widely varied, and the chef was able to change one of the items which I couldn't have.
interesting food, some that I hadnt had before. i wish we had been left with the menu on the table so could check each course.
Nice welcome. The bar had a small but well-chosen drink selection. We had the restaurant to ourselves, and shared a bench together. We took the tasting menu with wine match. The food was excellent, bold and exciting with an interesting match of wines. Service was excellent: Caitlyn was very knowledgable about the food, introducing each dish and drink briefly and answering all our questions. Quirky but brilliant music selection throughout our meal, which would sum up our experience overall. Highly recommended.
Straight into my top 5 or so favourite meals & I can't wait to try again when the menu changes. It's also worth mentioning that my wife's gluten free requirement was no issue at all since none of the dishes needed adjustment and, with advance warning, delicious special bread was provided. I don't usually like taster menus as I prefer to choose for myself but all 7 dishes were terrific & matched each other so well. I loved the clever simplicity of the dishes - most seemed to have only 4 or 5 ingredients - especially celeriac ribbons with creamy parmesan sauce & octopus with sweet potato mash & olive puree.
Fun and quirky service, lovely food, great wine pairings, will definitely return. Best dish was the celeriac with garlic cream sauce and pine oil. Smoked butter also excellent.
Overall it was a great experience. All dishes were neatly presented, they all had a good balance of textures, flavours and colours. The waitress kindly explained every dish and answered questions. One of them even went for an ipad to show what vegetable was the meal made of. The place was an old decorated with industrial style. I took my husband as a surprise to celebrate our anniversary, it was special, we both loved it.
The testing menu (of 7 dishes) is overpriced and not particularly interesting (apart from an excellent octopus and a very good granola starter). Service was generally good, albeit we needed to overcome a considerable resistance when one of us wanted the testing menu for 4, and two wanted for 7. The absence of espresso (or anything but filter coffee) was a bit surprising.
Menu was new and was surprisingly miss mathched. Didn't feel the ingredients went together. The whole experience was unusual a little cold in both feel, temperature and environment. We won't be heading back there anytime soon.
Delicious and interesting food. Superb wine matching and excellent service from knowledgeable friendly staff. A very memorable evening. What a treat to eat at two cats.
The food and atmosphere at Two Cats Kitchen is fabulous. A small but beautiful place with knowledgeable staff. They catered for my gluten intolerance amazingly.
No doubt about it this was a very special culinary experience. It made me revisit every meal I've had out during the last 6 months.
Exceptional food with excellently paired wine. The service was fantastic and we can't wait to return. Especially if the pork is still on the menu! Great value for money.
Fantastic food , fabulous service , lovely venue .. Made a special celebration even more special . Excited to try the new menu so will definitely be returning. A*
It was really a good experience to visit Two Cats Kitchen. The room is really beautiful with a good atmosphere. Since there are only limited seats the place is nice and quiet and you can easily talk without having to shout. The food is really good - Baltic gourmet. Not all the dishes were equally good, but it's really fun to try something new. All in all a super experience. And the price is a bargain.
Another fantastic dining experience here, and highly recommended. I would also suggest having the wine flight with the various courses as these really complemented the food.
Incredible food, friendly staff and lovely surroundings. From the smoked butter with the bread through to dessert everything was delicious and incredibly reasonably priced. Thanks
Overall an excellent meal for a fair price. Certain dishes were superb, particularly the beef tartare and octopus. A couple of dishes were not quite as successful in my opinion, the celeriac and chocolate dishes too large considering how rich both were. Staff very good and setting casual but cool.
The food was nice, I enjoyed 6 out of 7 of the dishes in the tasting menu. service was good. Would visit the restaurant again.
Always a treat to visit the 2 Cats, the six of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Each time we go we are treated to new ingredients and different combinations of ingredients.
Was really nice lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Of the four courses one slightly disappointing, the others were top notch. Would definitely recommend. Nice setting and atmosphere and liked the small but interesting wine menu.
Rustic, cosy Resturant. Staff were were attentive and knowledgeable. Food offering was well thought out and flavoursome. Octapus was fantastic, great aroma and Succulent, cooked to perfection. This is an place in its infancy and I think we have a lot more to see. Will visit again when new menu offered
Interesting menu and venue, definitely give it a try. Wine pairing disappointing, didn't feel it complemented the food very well. Cold draft in the restaurant meant people were putting there coats on during the meal, may have been a door / window open somewhere as the temp was 20 deg according to the thermostat on the wall. Staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient.
Excellent food and friendly service! A bit hard to find but well worth it. Do not live in Birmingham but will visit again when we re back!
An personal experience to not be missed. A choice of 4 or 7 courses of a set taster-menu exploring the magic of Baltic cuisine. Seemingly exotic flavours that deeply move the soul, with attentive and knowledgable staff that explain the ingredient's history and origins of each course. The restaurant is set just off the main road in a well established area of the Jewellery Quarter, and as you walk in through the main door the calming rustic decor and relaxed atmosphere is waiting just for you.
What an amazing place. The food was fantastic and so tasty. Different to anything we have had before, and very fresh & healthy. The wine flight was perfectly matched (including the shot of vodka with chicory starter). Lovely atmosphere - friendly, informal and a gorgeous building. What a hidden gem. We will definitely be going back.
interesting food but not yet perfected. attention to detail with service missing e.g. served our own wine. worth a visit but not michelin star standard by some way
Absolutly stunning food and the waiting staff were amazing!! Gorgeous decor definatly worth a visit!!! I would recommend the taster menu as well as the wine taster to go alongvside it!!! ❤️
Perfect service, perfect food, extremely good quality. It is a very special place, for special occasions and special people. This is the second time we go and we cannot find one thing that is not great about this place.
Romantic gothic interior, attentive and charming staff and some interesting dishes. Only one-dish had the wow effect for us, though (Oak Birch Pine at the end), and the tasting menu is a touch on the pricey side, considering.
Really nice blend of Baltic / Eastern European cousine, with plenty of modern twist. I would highly recommend this place as a quirky introduction to the region.
A very relaxed atmosphere with incredibly helpful staff. The food is understated and tastes amazing. Descriptions of each course beforehand is insightful and well explained. I feel it is very fairly priced given the quality of food produced. I would happily go again.
Amazing restaurant, the food is absolutely flawless. Staff are fabulous. Decor is simple and beautiful. The seven course menu and wine flight is perfect. Can't recommend it enough.
Excellent! Food was very different. It offers some new experiences. Staff helpful and the environment was warm. Food was wonderful and the menu was fantastic.
Friendly restaurant with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was amazing, we had the 7 course winter taster with each plate combining some incredible ingredients and flavours, and all beautifully presented. The staff were attentive but gave us space to relax. The only slight problem I had was the toilets really didn't smell good which was a shame after eating such tasty food. Will definitely be visiting again though when the seasonal menu changes, and possibly during the day time to fully appreciate the aesthetic of the dishes. Thank you for a lovely evening!
Very unique, Baltic cuisine isn't too widely available but this take on it delivered seven courses of excellence - varying tastes, beautifully cooked and all among a lovely old building in the Jewellery Quarter. If we're being picky (as in things to take it to the level of an Adam's, say) then perhaps the offer of more of the excellent sourdough part way through, the introduction of an amuse bouche (something experimental from the chef, perhaps), further information in relation to the matched wines. Overall, highly recommended.
We went for the lunch 4 course tasting menu .The oak, birch and pine dessert was amazing! The other 3 courses were ok but not the best fine dining food I've ever tasted. The crab was very fishy! Nice informal restaurant with good service.
Brilliant, considered and loving food decor and service. What more could you want? Highly recommended. I will be returning. Had the 4 course taster menu and it was spectacular.
