Nice food but odd rule where they serve breakfast until 12, but told us we had to get our order in by 11:45. Just write 11:45 on the menu!

Great service, great food. Lovely atmosphere for a birthday celebration! Only problem was that they couldn’t take card payments on the day. They had tried to contact everyone but if you weren’t aware then there was a atm seconds away.

Quite a shock when we asked for scrambled eggs not fried to be told there was a £1.50 surcharge as it meant using 2 extra eggs. This wasn’t marked on the menu and I’ve never seen this in any other restaurant. Unbelievable

The coffee was burnt though when we raised the issue they did not object to giving us a refund. The service generally it must be noted was very good. The french toast was also awful. More like omelette bread with a whole tub of cream on top. My girlfriend only managed to struggle down about half of it before giving up. The full English was good however although I found it strange that you had to pay extra for toast...

This place is beautiful: the food is excellent and the service very attentive. The Sunday roast and the desserts were to die for! I would definitely recommend it.

Very good food and service. Only negative was it was chilly as the heating was broken. Not the staffs fault but on a cold day it impacted the experience slightly.

Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere, good wine selection and knowledgeable staff. Perhaps a little pricey compared to other restaurants in the area but probably represents value for money.

Excellent roast dinners were had by all my party, more jus was delivered as requested - but we are more 'lashings of gravy' people than 'a touch of jus'! The staff were great and made us feel very at home - taking our coats as we came in. Relaxed atmosphere where we were not rushed. Nice touch to have the sweets with the bill!

The quality of our food was excellent although our table wasn’t ready at our allotted time so it was quite late by the time we got to eat.

Yes lovely restaurant waitress absolutely fantastic, so helpful, food great, what we did not like no machine available to take credit cards, which for a top restaurant not very good, the payment had to be done the next day by direct transfer, also service charge is definitely too high.

delicious food. Bit miffed the service charge of 12.5% was not discretionary. We were sat next to the kitchen with no other diners would have nice to have been where there were others as a little out of the way

Still the best Sunday lunch in Walthamstow! Served, as always, by friendly and efficient staff. The Village Kitchen never fails; it is just the place on a cold winters afternoon.

what a disappointment-well over priced -food no taste - service crap-dinner for two £85 in Walthamstow. Would have been better off in the West End. We had a glass of wine each,starter-main and we shared something that they called a cheese cake. Never again 😡

Really lovely service, generous and tasty food, and a great atmosphere for a pre-Christmas get together. Just remember to bring cash. They did call in advance to let us know, but the nearby cash machine was broken. Luckily we were able to pay using our banking app!

Been here many times before and just as any other time the food is great the service is brilliant and it is always a great experience. Already missing the roasted monkfish wrapped in parma ham and the chocolate brownie for dessert.

The Village Kitchen has been around in Walthamstow for years. Its a bit of a local institution if you like! That said, they haven't rested on their laurels and keep serving up delicious, varied and comforting food in pleasant surroundings. The chocolate bread and butter pudding is utterly delicious and a menu staple! On this visit I also had the duck liver pate which was really rich, and worked really well with the toasted homemade bread, I also had the lamb loin special which came with black garlic and cous cous - lovely! I don't think I know anyone who has had a bad experience at the Village Kitchen, we certainly haven't so I'll definitely recommend it.

The food was excellent; there were no complaints on this score at all. The reason for the lowish score was the service, which was slow and not very attentive. This may have been because the 2 waitresses were covering the bar as well as serving at table. It looked as if they were one person short. However, we will be going again, and hope that they have managed to sort out the staffing issue

Great accurately cooked food and a warm welcome. The only little criticisms I have is the portions are a little small, and it's cash only. Will go again.

Lovely meal. Well presented. Warm and friendly atmosphere. We both had the Sunday roast and I asked the waiter if he could guarantee that my sirloin would be served ‘rare’ if ordered. He said that he could. And indeed it was (which is sadly not always the case at many other Sunday roast venues). Always a treat to come to VK.

We had a wonderful meal. Two courses are available for £18.75 in the evening which is very good value. I though the food was some of the best I have eaten in London. I was very pleased with the restaurant and only wished lived closer so I could visit it more often. Well worth visiting. Our waiter Rob was great fun, and looked after us well.

We had booked a table for four and were placed near the entrance. The light was very bright and made the whole place feel very uncosy. Our waitress seemed very clumsy and unattentive. One of my friends received the wrong food, some of our steaks were ice cold so the herb butter wouldn't even melt the fries were soggy. We had to poor our own wine after one of us tasting it and the waitress walking off. Finally we received a incorrect bill with one meal too much on it. All in all a poor experience!
