On Great Ancoats Street, Vivid Lounge merges English-style breakfasts with homestyle Thai cooking. Sound strange? It’s the furthest from it. Offering delicious breakfast spreads during the weekdays until 11:30am and on the weekdays until 1:30pm, tasty fusion lunches during the afternoon and an incredible Thai dinner menu every evening, the restaurant has something to please just about any diner. Its large outdoor terrace and ideal location in the heart of Manchester’s New Islington makes it all the more tempting to visit often (and you should!).
Good food in a relaxed atmosphere with a group of lovely friends. We had the special of the day which was Chicken with Chilli & Basil. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely cafe/ restaurant with friendly staff. We quickly got shown to a table and served drinks . The food was delicious , a particular favourite was the corn fritters to start with. The offering of drinks was also good with a selection of marble ales although I had to stick to the non alcoholic ginger beer which was lovely .
Best Thai we've had in Manchester in a great location. Massaman was delicious and service was quick and friendly. Will be back soon - Highly recommend!
Situated close on Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, Vivid Lounge’s team of chefs are masters of their craft, whipping up amazing breakfasts and tasty Thai delights like nobody’s business. Featuring a massive terrace overlooking the canal and fully stocked with excellent wines and craft beers, this restaurant and bar on New Islington’s Great Ancoats Street is a popular after-work hangout and meeting point for locals looking to sit back, relax and take in the view.
Sourcing their meat from local butcher J.W. Mettricks, Vivid Lounge in New Islington is committed to sustainability as well as quality. You’ll be able to taste the difference too, especially in dishes like the Thai sour sausage, beef massaman and the duck in tamarind sauce. For breakfast, the cuisine is just as superb. We recommend the full English breakfast with sausage, poached eggs, dry cured bacon (all of which are free range), hash browns, baked beans, toast and fresh tomatoes – there’s even a veg-friendly version! And on Saturdays and Sundays, you can order up kedgeree made with smoked haddock, spicy rice and poached eggs. Booking ahead – especially for a Thai dinner – is highly recommended at Manchester’s Vivid Lounge.
