Excellent menu, lovely time, great staff. Very helpful and considerate of my gluten free, vegan wife. She had more than 1 choice!! Unusual and welcome. Great evening and heartily recommended.

Comfortable stay in this quaint pub. Our double room was small but well appointed with a double aspect view of the River Lune. There was traffic noise but it was not too intrusive. Dinner was tasty, as was breakfast. Not too keen on the pop music playing while we were dining, but know some people like it. Good location; only a short walk to the centre of Lancaster, easy walks along the river.

Excellent service and a warm welcome. My friend had the hake dish and she said it was the best fish dish she had ever eaten. Another friend enjoyed the fish and chips and another of our party thought the gammon was fabulous. I enjoyed the sweet belly pork but I think a green vegetable in addition to the carrots would have balanced the dish, Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and look forward to going back.

Food good but service could have been better. Had to ask for food order to be taken after waiting for 20 mins. Service then much better.

Disappointing used to be a lot better, meal very average, sweet awful, coconut tiramisu tasted like it has been in the fridge since Christmas,! We were also very rushed by the waiter who actually wanted to start serving mains before one of us had finished their starter. Went to the Morecambe hotel on two previous nights, much better quality and considerably cheaper

Lovely staff with good service and very comfortable and stylish decor. The selection of food was broad with excellent fish dishes which was great to see on the quay. The salmon bon bons, prawns, crab, scallops and wild boar scotch egg were absolutely delicious. The hake was cooked beautifully and we all enjoyed the main courses and desserts. I would recommend.

Very nice Sunday roast. The roast potatoes very soft. Meat is usually served pink here but we asked for no pink and they did this. The chocolate and nut cheesecake was heavenly!

Enjoyed a fantastic 5 course meal at the Wagon and Horses on Valentine's Day. Great value at £35 per head including a glass of prosecco. Food was fantastic, fresh, tasty and well presented and staff very friendly. Recommend and look forward to another visit next time we're in Lancaster.

It’s really lovely inside and the dining tables are well positioned. My partner had a beef dish which was fantastic. I had the sweet beetroot vegetarian dish which was dry and the flat bread was hard. I felt there wasn’t enough choice of vegetarian dishes, being only two that I could see on the menu. We then ordered our pudding which after 40 minutes of waiting, were told there was a problem with one of them and was asked if I would like to order another. We then waited a further 15 minutes for two cookie puddings. My partners wasn’t baked properly at all and we just couldn’t believe they were £6.50 each. Very overpriced and £55 altogether for a very disappointing meal. We could have had a far better meal at Cottams Field for half the price. A pub trying to be a restaurant.

This pub has a varied menu and the food is excellent. Portions are generous so make sure that you leave room for pudding! The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

Great food, lovely atmosphere and fairly priced. The scallops for starter were perfectly cooked. The rabbit dish was great - the risotto with berries was brilliant and only comment would be the meat was a little dry - although flavour was good.

I dined with friends, we were seated at a quiet table in the window, one of my favourite places to eat in Lancaster. The service was excellent (staff were attentive but not intrusive). The food was delicious, two diners had the hake and one had salmon, presentation of the meal was lovely. To finished the meal we had cheese and crackers while we continued to chat.

I'm never disappointed when I visit the Wagon and horses. The staff are always welcoming. I dined with my daughter we had the prawn /salmon sandwich and Lancashire cheese/ pickle with a side of chunky chips. It arrived quickly, lovely fresh produce, we both thoroughlyenjoyed it.

This is a really nice looking pub and pleasant to eat in. The food was lovely but i would like to say it was not enough for what it cost and it took a while to get served with drinks and take the order.

this is a very pleasant place to visit, staff very friendly and service good. The starters we had were very good, the boar scotch egg was lovely the only thing that let it down was the horseradish crisps which were unbelievable bitter, the pork belly with sesame ice cream was lovely and we all had a taste, although the colour was a bit offputting. Mains were disappointing, rabbit was dry, especially the leg, the risotto was so thick and sticky it was difficult to eat, the berries although looking lovely didn't add much to the meal, the sirloin steak although cooked very well was tough as old boots, fatty and very difficult to cut, on the whole meal was ok, wine was delicious, didn't bother with puds. Would visit again and try something else, maybe it was just one of those days.

Excellent welcome, home cooked food and good ales. I have known the Wagon for 40 years and this iteration maintains the original conviviality and good beer with some comforts and good cooking

Good but not great. Our main courses were excellent, starters were good although my crab claws had the flavourlessness of long-frozen meat. The tart I had for pudding was awful: pastry could have been made of concrete, filling some sort of sweet, glutinous stuff. The crumble was good though. Pleasant service.

Underwhelming would be the word I would use for this visit, the starter was so cold it was tasteless and when I mentioned this to the waitress I received a barrage of an answer back from the kitchen, just take the comment on the chin and don’t assume your customer is stupid or have the balls to come out yourself. The roast was also just middling but I wasn’t going to be insulted again by saying anything more. A shame, we have had some really nice food here previously.

Lovely atmosphere and prices ok. Wasn't overly impressed with the vegan starter. Humus didn't have much taste. Venison, all though lovely didn't come with anything like chips ( although I was offered some when I asked where they were) I didn't accept as would have had to wait. Dessert was delicious (Brownie) but on the small side. Would go back but probably not to eat.

Lovely starter, main course acceptable but pudding awful. No charge for the pudding. Accepted by staff and chef that not right. Undecided whether I'll go back
