We really enjoyed the lovely food and friendly staff and look forward to going back. Enjoyed the flavours of Lancashire and the different choices for a vegetarian.

Visited the white bull at alston last Sunday and was certainly not disappointed. The staff really know the meaning of customer service. The food itself was absolutely incredible. Well worth a visit and will be returning.

We have eaten at the white bull for the past few years. The used to be consistently good and always freshly prepared. Last time we visited just before Christmas it wasn’t quite as good and tonight it was terrible. We both had a roast dinner, the chicken was dry and tasteless and the roast potatoes were so hard you couldn’t cut them with a knife. I suspect they had been deep fried several times throughout the day. They have also changed the menu and the 2 course set menu is now extremely limited. We did complain to the waitress and she was lovely, very apologetic and offering more potatoes and drinks however we just wanted to leave. We were informed that ours was the first complaint since the new head chef had been hired however we were talking to the table behind us and they were not impressed either stating that the chips were hard and the food had been hit and miss recently. We all agreed that it has gone downhill. This is such a disappointment as we loved this place before. We will now have to search for a new regular place to visit for good fresh English food. Such a shame

The service was slow and I was brought the wrong thing for my main course, I ordered the goats cheese tart and I got a goats cheese salad (starter) which meant everyone had finished eating by the time I got my main course. When it did arrive, the pastry was underdone and soggy. Its a shame really because it would probably have been nice if it was done properly. Also would have liked to be in the restaurant area rather than the bar area.

Very nice surrounds and great service but check about their specials including 2 courses for £22 as advertised on their website because when we went they told us it wasn't available and it cost us a lot more!

Lovely meal here. Top quality home cooked food at good prices. We will definitely come back here. Proper home cooked chips that you don't see often these days. It's nice when a restaurant makes the extra effort

I've been to the White Bull numerous times for a meal and the quality never falters. I think it's the best place in the area to eat and will be going back again in the future for sure.

Tasty food, good service. Sadly one one our party had an accident on leaving the table. He walked into the "Specials" noticeboard which was overhanging wall by quite a few inches, resulting in a cut to his lip. Reported but staff unable to find accident book. Spoilt the evening a bit!

Lovely meal here this evening. Second visit with the hubby. I had the curried pork balls which were delicious. My other half had the pate which went down a treat. My husband had the rag pudding which he enjoyed and I had the sea bass which was delicious. Followed by sticking toffee pudding and chocolate tart. Really delicious meal and great service. We will be back
