Lovely homemade food and service in a well maintained traditional Inn. They even brew their own beer. The Sunday Lunch menu great value, had good choice and the Beef & Veg soup was very tasty indeed. Will definitely return and highly recommended.
Good service food and plates nice and hot excellent meal we really enjoyed ourselves would recommend this venue and look forward to our next visit
Good food ,lovely people warm welcoming atmosphere what more can you ask. Black pudding fritters were a great starter, I had pheasant my wife the Hake both delicious finished off with sticky toffee pudding WOW
The menu choice was limited, as it was boxing day to a 3 course meal at £26. On arrival, the lady behind the bar was doing something and didn't even acknowledge our arrival. When we were handed the menu, I asked if it was possible to have something else and she said 'no'. The food was poor value for £26. As we had 2 elderly people with us,we felt that 3 courses was too much so only ordered 3 of the meals. I had the starter and my Mother's pudding as she only wanted a main. There was very little food served between 3 people. The fish my parents had they said was tasteless and didn't even look nicely presented. The tipsy trifle I had was not at all 'tipsy' I tasted no alcohol flavour even. The atmosphere of the place was very lacking. We sat in a room with 3 tables in it where everyone could hear what others were saying. This put us off even talking and whispered everything to each other. It was like gate crashing someones Sunday dinner. Coffee and mince pies was part of the set meal, and when it came the pies were as big as 50p pieces. Very disappointing. We will not be going again.
Excellent service great food very good value for money. The beer is brewed on the premises and as a senior brewer with 40 years experience I know quality when I taste it.
Prompt and friendly service. Food was very good. Unforunately didn't do espresso coffee. Minor detail. Would visit again and recommend to anyone after wholesome food served in a warm environment.
Excellent food, location and staff. I have been going to this place for 60 years. Unfortunately now been sold, after 3 generations in the same family. It is unknown what changes may be made
It's nice to be served by the friendly and helpful staff. Really traditional pub in a lovely area. Peaceful setting. Great food and great beer. Very nice and spacious rooms. Only stayed one night but nice and relaxing.
Good, tasty food with generous portions: I had never had such a large portion of pheasant in my life. The local potted shrimps and home made sticky toffee pudding were exceptionally good. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. Old fashioned country pub but well worth finding. They even made us coffee to go as we had a long journey home and needed to get off.
Always a fabulously warm welcome at the Horns Inn, and may the wonderful soup never be removed from the menu! It’s so reassuring that in this day of the ‘celebrity chef’, I know where to eat fresh local food that hasn’t been ‘faffed around’ with. Thank you 😊
This is one of the best. Food is excellent also their own beer.Very varied menu. It,s a lovely oldie world pub well worth a visit from
Excellent food and service , good choice of menu and blackboard specials, plus a pint and open fire in a sitting now sadly disappearing. Sunday afternoon at its best.
Great food and good friendly service, with good ale and nicely selected wine list. Very friendly. Need to book. Can get busy. Worth going out for!
Well worth a visit for Sunday lunch. Very warm welcome, great beer at a reasonable price, Lots of variety and choice on the menu, great food which is well presented and served with a smile.
One of my favourite country pubs. Have brought overseas visitors and all have been delighted. Food first, class and lovely beer from the local micro brewery
Always out and about to find good places to eat and this location more than lived up to expectations. Made to feel welcome and good food. I had the rump steak and my partner had the battered scampi both of which were beautifully cooked. The location is a bit out of the way and an old establishment but nicely decorated.
Warm friendly it's was good price food very good enjoyed it well worth going would go again and maybe stay over as well easy to get to as well
Went to celebrate my mums friends 90th birthday. Food good but no as good as usual. My husband had Fish and chips fish a bit greasy. My mum and her friend enjoyed the roast duckling both clearing their plates.
Staff were lovely and the food was excellent! Would definitely recommend! Lovely country restaurant in a lovely setting. Field at the back for caravans to stay also.
The Horns Inn has a special place in my life. I have eaten here many, many times including all of my landmark birthdays and my wedding reception since 1967. Can't beat the signature beef & vegetable soup and the steak & kidney pie - and now they have a micro-brewery too, brewing fabulous beer. I now live in Carlisle, but try to stop here whenever I'm passing Preston on the M6.
Lovely food in a convivial atmosphere. They are really trying hard to make your evening an enjoyable one. The real ale that is brewed on site is also delicious!
With fond memories of great meals here many years ago, it was a pleasure to see that Ye Horns is thriving, while retaining its atmosphere . Fantastic quality & value, plus we could stay on site in our motorhome to enjoy the beer!
Fairly slow service on this occasion, but it was peak time on Sat. eve. Seemed to be understaffed? Duck (always have duck - their specialty) was rather overcooked, almost 'mushy'. Good choice of puddings. Not cheap.
Olde World Inn. Food like grandma used to make. Fresh local ingredients. Steak & kidney pie, with real gravy. Scrumptious. My husbands sirloin steak almost covered his whole plate. Will certainly visit again.
Not a good experience, had to wait 45mins for our table couldn't actually eat the main course. Won't be going back again sorry to say.
Not many good quality home cooked food places like this one. Authentic and good quality. My only minor moan is i would have just liked a bigger plate as the duck breast nearly filled the plate and it left no room to add vegetables as it was only a small dinner plate.
Nice meal - food was well cooked and the service good - just a little bit too close to other diners to have a conversation - or not overhear everyone else but other than that, excellent as always
Set in a lovely peaceful area this pub is delightful very quaint and oldy worldy !! Lovely home cooked food will visit again for sure
Not our first visit, but still of a high standard with sufficiently extensive menu, good food served by polite, pleasant staff. The location and the inn itself makes it worth a visit.
Good basic food, well cooked and presented. Staff very pleasant and attentive, although we did wait quite a while for the food to be served. Would certainly go again.
On a cold winter night a very warm welcome from the open fire and the staff. Not visited for a number of years but the Horns matched our expectations based on previous knowledge. Would be a comfortable spot for a short stay and a tour or walking of the area. Only missed on a 6 due to limited evening menu but food nicely presented and well cooked. The on site micro brewery produces excellent beer, especially the "Red", and house red merlot is very quaffable!
we had a great meal had the duckling and braised steak with chips, staff very friendly would recommend ye horns inn to anyone, will be back......
Great food, excellent service in a relaxing atmosphere. Really good real ales from the micro brewery. We will definitely be coming back and be bringing more people with us next time.
Excellent food, excellent service and all with the charm of a country pub! A good selection of real ales to choose from - Highly recommended!
Small country pub with excell OKent food Have been back a few times since would also like to recommend it. they do takeaway puddings too. You will understand why once you have tried them
A beautiful 189th century country inn - loads of atmosphere and splendid but not pretentious cooking, I had locally shot pheasant, which was great, and I speak as one who was "sick of pheasant" during WWII - There were no game laws, Dad was a good shot....! My friend had the mince and potato pie, first class pastry (no soggy bottoms here) followed by what was essentially a lighter Christmas pudding tart All in all a great birthday treat. Finally, great beer, I solved my Christmas pressy probs for the blokes in my family in one neat order.I believe it comes from a local micro brewery. More power to its alcoholic elbow!
3 of us visited on a saturday evening olde worlde . very pleasant. staff friendly and efficient. good choice of ales and wines. had a cheese and pineapple starter which was delicious followed by pheasant with all accompaniments. All in all a pleasant and relaxing visit.
Good atmosphere of an old fashioned English pub and restaurant, authentic food and friendly staff. A break from all the fashionable, modern, excessive attention to dish presentation.... and their beer is fab.
The food was excellent and the service was superb The restaurant has a lovely homely atmosphere which makes the dining experience extra special Thank you
A great place to eat. Excellent food using local produce. The Goosenargh duck melted in your mouth. Excellent service. The staff were efficient pleasant and friendly. We shall certainly come again.
