Very disappointing Sunday beef roast. Beef was as pale as pork and tasted processed and the gravy was thin and tasteless. Risotto was late to the table. Service was slow.

Very good service, lovely location and tasty meals. I found that the specials however, were quite expensive, but still well cooked and quick service provided.

We were looking for a location to celebrate Mothers day. The atmosphere was great, food outstanding and service attentive. We would recomend without hesitation Village Kitchen and will be returning soon.

Table wasn't ready when we arrived which wasn't a big deal but service once seated was pretty bad. Took about an hour for each course to come out. Starters were very good but main courses were all overcooked which makes me feel like it was both front of house and the kitchen which were at fault. Would have loved a dessert but it was half 7 with no sign of any staff (we arrived at 5pm) and our young son was getting tired. Ended up paying at the bar so we could leave. Disappointing as not up to usual standard here.

Reasonable food but nothing special. Average price but service a little slow at times had to ask for additional drinks and for desert menu. Pleasant staff

Friendly service. It was loud on the night - Friday night. Big portion sizes. Nice interior. Food was good. Wine wasn't the best. Average prices. Would recommended nonetheless.

not much on menu for veggie only fish and chips and you can get that any time, but my friend enjoyed there steak and with £3.00 off that even better

A lovely venue with a varied menu. The food is beautifully prepared and reasonably priced. Some excellent offers. Staff were friendly and able to advise on the menu

This is a good place to meet. However on this occasion, we had three starters, three main courses and one dessert, and all of the meals were only luke warm. For the price charged, we all thought more imaginative servings of vegetables would be more appropriate than simply frozen peas.

Lovely atmosphere, staff friendly, food delicious. A busy Sunday lunchtime but didn't feel pressured to vacate our table once we had finished. Hope to go again soon.

The setting is nice and and a very nice place to go for a meal, although I'm not convinced that the quality of the cooking of the food was as good as it could have been. Service was a bit too prompt and we had to slow things down. probably due to the fact we were the last ones in, but it was only 9.45pm at that point.

The ambience of the Lanbley is great as is the service and friendliness of the staff. My biggest problem wàs the fact there was 1 vegetarian option on the menu, this included the specials board. I was very disappointed by this so probably won't go again.

Generous starters, fishcakes. Large helpings of Sunday roast lamb but meat a little disappointing. Yorkshire pudding also served. Attractive venue, very noisy! Varied traditional puddings. Will return to try one..

Was stuck in a corner with no light, had to use my phone torch to read the menu. Ordered Bernaise Sauce, poured over my steak and it was split and was just like melted butter. Informed waiter and was offered a free pudding. When we were leaving we noticed the specials board, which we were unaware of at time of ordering. Won't be going back.

Lovely meal as always.. I had the steak with Ailton sauce which was lovely.. we will be going again in the not to distant future

We received a friendly welcome, and the table was well positioned and roomy. The food was delicious and there was no problem adjusting it to our requirements. Our only slight reservation was over the time it took for the food to arrive, the children were getting impatient and restless.

Although the service was good we all felt that the food was of a lower quality compared to our last visit. The chips for example which were served with three of the dishes were particularly poor.

Food was nice. The restaurant is lovely. We had one criticism; the two wood burning fires remained unlit on a damp and cold February day. Had they been lit this would have made a much nicer, warm welcome to our Sunday lunch.

A very warm, friendly, environment. Lots of buzz around, great food with a good choice of menu. An excellent late luncheon birthday celebration on a very, cold, wet and miserable Sunday made most enjoyable. Highly recommended.

We had Sunday lunch we had the Derbyshire Beef with all the trimmings, it was great and the quality and the quantity was fantastic. Would definitely go again.

Great restaurant. We both had steak, my mums was slightly under done for her, they took it straight back and cooked her a fresh one and in addition gave her a free dessert to compensate. My food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend.

Didn't recieve a dessert, which we preordered. No waitresses came to us after the main and we were sat there with no dessert for 40mins!

Fantastic food and service as always. Lovely homemade Scott egg and risotto for starters followed by fish and chips and game pie for main. Delicious!

We were there at lunchtime and chose the lunchtime menu. Tasty, attractively presented food, reasonably priced. There was a choice of 3 or 4 meals for a set price. We were full enough so didn't want a desert. Tap water is served. Pleasant comfortable environment with attentive staff.

The place was pleasant enough and the staff were nice too. It's a shame it's not overly clear on the website the Xmas dinner is for parties only as we turned up hoping for a Xmas menu. We ended up with a standard Sunday roast which was nice but definitely needs more mash.

Booked for Sunday lunch. The starter was lovely and the service great. We chose the roast beef which unfortunately was rather dry slightly tough and tasteless. The potatoes were soggy and the cabbage too vinegary. It was hot though but not great.

Food was very average , bar area was noisy which encroached on dining area. At 2130 young children who'd been in the bar since well before 1930 we're spread out prone ,and asleep on the bar area eating. Not what you want to see in a supposedly restaurant on a weekday or any evening

Good service . Little expensive especially wine. It was very busy and felt therefore tables were little too close together. Staff were friendly and attentive. My husband had the beef and horseradish sauce but was not impressed with it.

Had lunch there on a Mondaywitj a friend. The lunch menu was extremely good and there was also a light bites menu. Excellent food, attentive staff. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely restaurant with great food. Very welcoming and accommodating to needs of children. The only down point is the wait for food after ordering is considerable and can be hard with young children.

Food was cold first time round. Then they were setting up for a wedding around us and made us feel very uncomfortable. Annoyed and disappointment

We had a lovely family meal out on Bonfire Night - celebrating our daughter's 7th birthday! Notably, they accommodated her with a half-portion meal from the adult menu - great customer service. We'll be back!

Wonderful bowl of moules with choice of delicious sauces. Satisfying and very tasty . Polite and attentive service and no sense of rush . Highly recommended .

Food was good value for money but service was rather slow. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience and my partner liked the portion size.

The staff were polite and obliging however the standard of the food wasn't up to scratch, quality wise. For example, the beef was too dry and the baked potatoes were burnt & rock hard. Our servers were quick to rectify these two issues, however it has to be said that overall the meal was fairly average & a little disappointing.

Lovely place, lovely Sunday lunch. Only complaint was I had to ask twice for gravy oh and they put an extra glass of wine on the bill which was paid for at the bar. Quickly produced a correct bill.

Lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. Sunday Roast was excellent. Attended with two young children (2 and 4yrs) and we were made to feel very welcome.

Service was good but, had a Sunday lunch and the roast potatoes were pretty much inedible. Everything else we ate was just ok but not great.

Booked the table for 10 people over a week ago to be told there were no roast potatoes available to have with the Sunday lunches. A few of us had the beef which we all found quite tough. The staff were lovely but overall a disappointing experience, won't be rushing back.
