Great food and friendly service. Been going here for ten years and they are the best. The shalimar jinga korai dansak is out of this world. Packed full of tiger king prawns. Superb.

Had a really great time. Lovely food as usual. Superb service, very friendly, been going here for ten years and it just keeps getting better and better. My favourite starter is Naga Sheek kebab followed by a special curry called Shalimar Jinga Korai Dansak with a side dish of some Madras sauce with Bombay potatoes and mushroom rice. Magnificent food and so good we are going again this Friday!

I visit this restaurant every couple of months and am never disappointed with the service, food quality or atmosphere.

Felt it would be a tad expensive if we hadn’t had the ‘Eat Out to Help Out Discount’. Difficulty understanding the waiter taking the order and not convinced he understood I’d ordered the healthy option cooked with frylight (which I’d previously been told was an option). Didn’t feel comfortable with the reused menus and condiments and was please I had my own sanitiser as there was none on the table.

Food was amazing and served in just the right quantities for us. Service from some of the staff was poor. Lack of attention and not that bothered. Some of the staff really do need to learn how to look after there customers. No acknowledgement to customers that had just arrived and also a lack of checking that all was ok withe their seated guests - had to wait an hour for our main meal. However were served by two of the managers later on who were super caring and efficient. Would go back for the food but not the service.

Basmati serves excellent Indian cuisine. The take away side is also very busy, perhaps a longer screen at the entrance, its does spoil the ambience a little for diners, if you are seated facing the door , it is a bit distracting. Drinks are a bit overpriced.

We always enjoy our meals at Basmati. The food is flavoursome and plentiful. The atmosphere is much improved in recent months, simply because there are more people dining there! We always receive a great welcome from the attentive staff...... so thank you! We’ll see you again soon!
